When I tested the Disco 4 with Michael and Piers many moons ago, I recall being fascinated by the similar sort of thing. The L200 actually has a Torsen LSD in the middle which can be fully locked by the driver if required. There isn't a rear locking diff, but the traction control plays a part to an extent. There's loads of off road information that's a bit lost me as I spend 99.9% of my time on tarmac. The axle articulation and gradients info is interesting to watch and the off road cameras are great for negotiating multi-story carparks as you get a clear view from directly in front of the car and car see exactly where the wheels are in relation to the kerbs! It was really interesting trying the different modes out in fairly deep fresh snow. Mine has Terrain Response 2 which includes an automatic mode which worked pretty well, but in comfort the traction control was going mad and there was quite a lot of sideways movement. Put it into the correct mode (grass/gravel/snow) and it just gripped and went, no sideways slip at all and I could use well over half throttle, I didn't even have to use the low traction launch setting, although I did take the opportunity to try it and it locks up the diffs, makes a big change to the throttle and presumably does something with the TC. Really clever stuff.

..Nobody ever explains if each one has a proper AWD system or not. It probably only benefited me on the one day it properly snowed, ... On those sort of days you can also bang a part time system into AWD and be OK. The real benefit of the Shogun system (or any proper AWD system) is that on a cold morning when you hit that patch of ice on a corner you'll be OK. In many pickups (with no day to day on road AWD mode) you're piloting a large, rear wheel drive wagon and you're in potential trouble. I do wonder of most buyers even realise that?

Bollocks. We've been moving beasts about today and I've managed to lose my keys somewhere on the fell.
Lindsey had to come out with the spares.
More expense, but it's the first car key I've ever lost. I'll need a new smart key programming, the blade and a tonneau cover key.
I'm going to go up early one day and walk the field in sections.

Do you know anyone with a metal detector?

I'm going to ask about as that had occurred to me.

That's a bugger. I hope you find them. A metal detector is probably your vest bet, but try and get a decent one as otherwise yo have to be about 1 mm from any metal.

It was a big bunch of keys. I've been up and down where I walked with the quad bike to no avail. There is the distinct liklihood of thembdroppibg out of my pocket while getting in or out of the excavator and them now being buried under several tonnes of crushed brick.
Local locksmith who quoted is now unresponsive to messages. I suspect he misquoted as two other locksmiths have advised they can't do it.
Dealer is £400 plus VAT including programming and I have to go down in person with inside leg measurement etc. before they will order it.

Locksmith has got back to me with apology. He has been on his own this week and I am booked in on Monday.
His price figures as there is an online locksmith selling genuine keys for £250 and this fella is £285 including new blade and programming.

Just when you thought buying a new car would mean less bills...
I feel your pain Mark, bad luck. I'm sure as soon as the locksmith leaves they'll probably turn up.

Saved a little money on the tonneau cover key. Genuine mountain top key is £45 each cut to code and a 6-8 week wait.
Quick Google and cut to photo got me working keys at £15 for a pair next day.

Two other auto locksmiths told me it was impossible to get hold of Mitsubishi smart keys and they were definitely dealer only. This guy sorted it in half an hour for just over half the price.

Gave the truck a good clean today. Removed all of the farm stuff from the bed and pressure washed that out before putting my tools and things back. I've got a tray for camping stuff for the LRO Show in September.

That looks like a neat bit of kit. I assume you won't have your LR finished for the show then, are you allowed to rock up in a pickup or do they make you camp in another field?

I wouldn't be allowed in the nearest car park if I was a day visitor, but there are plenty on Transits, Sprinters and other non Land Rover vehicles in the camping field.
I'm not rushing the Cummins. I reckon another 6 months if I get my finger out.

I passed 'your' truck on the way to work this morning. It had the sloping clamshell-type rear cover on it, which looked pretty horrible to my eyes. Good decision not to go for it I reckon!

I've been tinkering. Just like the Disco 2 thread, I can't help myself.
Reverse light is a candle on one side. I've added a couple of LED light bars between the bumper and towbar that switch with the reverse lights.
I finished work late the other night and couldn't see in the truck bed. The sports bar has threaded holes in the top, so I've added a pair of work lights. Just waiting for it to get dark.

A simpler option (but not as bright) is just to turn on the rear fog lamp as an extra reversing light at night (albeit it's red not white light that you will get - and I'm not sure about the legality but it would be a tough cop who'd issue a fine for such a thing)

You do know how to spoil my fun! 🤣😉
I've tried that in the past. It involves the front fogs as well as they are on a sequential switch and it doesn't really help the camera that much.
It wasn't a big job to do the reverse lights. I pulled the feed from the towing electrics which is rated at 15 amps - my trailer only pulls 11 amps with every bulb illuminated and these LEDs add another 3 amps. The relay and towing bypass are hidden behind the left tail light which made everything dead simple.
The wiring for the work lights was marginally more complicated, but that was purely down to getting the cable through the main wiring grommet into the cab and finding which wire on the adjacent switch was the illumination.

Actually what you've done looks spectacularly good; poor reversing light(s) can be a real nuisance. The one on the Captur is next-to-useless
