It amazes me how some manufacturers get crucial safety kit such as reverse lights so wrong. The mk1 and 2 Focus were a good example with just one reverse light mounted on the bottom of the bumper where most pedestrians walking behind the car are likely to completely miss it, especially if they're coming from the direction opposite the light.

Quite agree. And I've always wondered if reversing lights are there to allow you to see what you are doing (in which case most are rubbish) or to warn people you are reversing (in which case they need to be easily visible). Our horse lorry has appalling reverse lights (Peugeot Boxer van based). They are so dim that the only way to see is to do what Chris suggests and use the fog light or keep tapping the brakes to give more light. Mark - those LED lights look very impressive.

Sticking the hazard lights on is an equally good way to eliminate an area.

It's back. No issues to report. I had them look at the infotainment screen and they've done a software update for it under warranty as it would crash occasionally. The disclaimer that appears on startup that had to be acknowledged every single time, now goes away of its own accord after a couple of seconds which is a massive positive.

What on earth would possess somebody to buy that Citroen? That driver's screen is laughable.
Seems that Mitsubishi still know how to price gouge on servicing. Our Shogun has not been back to a dealer since the brake calipers fiscal-raping of a few years ago.

I'll get next year's interim service done by them at four years old then it's into the 4x4 specialist I used to use for the Land Rover for the 5th service when the warranty runs out.
Mitsubishi have always been expensive - I remember my dad moaning at the service costs of my mum's Shoguns in the 80s.😂

That rear roof box looks really good. I think pick-ups without the almost obligatory truckman top box look so much better.

Before I actually got it, I was adamant that I would need a canopy, but a year of use has proved that I don't. Even with the Mountain Top, I can still fit an IBC/pallet in the back if I felt the need which I couldn't if I had a canopy.
The bars make life a lot easier carrying my bike and other stuff when needed and I don't have to reach all the way up to the roof.

Non breakdown. It has started randomly jumping out of third which is annoying.
This is a common issue apparently and could either be the 3rd gear dog teeth or more likely a faulty detent.

I've booked the truck in with a new to me dealer. I was rather dissatisfied with the attitude of the supplying dealer when I enquired about having the gearbox fault looked at.
New dealer has booked it in for repair next week which will take 3 days including its fourth service.
They admitted the fault is a known issue and they've done lots of repairs so it isn't a problem for them at all - unlike the supplying dealer who claimed they had never heard of it and implied I was doing something wrong or making it up.
New Year is looking up.

Sounds like the supplying dealer is doing a good job of avoiding future custom.

The new dealer told me that they were lying to me - which I had already worked out. I suspect they don't like big warranty jobs - it's a 9 hour repair by the book.
I certainly won't ever use or recommend them again.

Dealers - good / bad - make such a difference to manufacturers success. It's crazy that some dealers can get away with blatant fuck-offs to customers.

I can't imagine it is a big community selling those, so would have thought retaining customers was a priority moreso than a mainstream brand dealer?

🤣
No Mitsubishi dealers any more. Some have closed entirely amd some are just service centres.
Some new service centres have opened at Isuzu dealers, but as most won't have sold any, they may not be familiar enough with common issues.
I bought my truck from Croxdale, but am switching to Blackshaws at Morpeth from now on. Their attitude over the phone was night and day difference from the Durham lot.

Blackshaws are good, I've dealt with the Alnwick Nissan branch. Still a family owned business.

They phone me last week to put the job off a week as they have some staff off sick. Makes no odds to me.
I have wanted to document the problem for a while and finally got around to it. Apparently the dealer needs to verify the fault. I would suggest this footage is enough.
Half an hour journey had the fault recorded five times.

Loan car lottery resulted in a Ssangyong Tivoli in what I think is a high spec 1.2 turbo triple.
It's inoffensive and a damn sight better than the crappy Citroen I had from the last garage.
I'll sort photos tomorrow.
Health check video on my truck (never had one of those before) told me it was dirty (indeed), there is a scuff to the rear bumper and some stone chips to the front skirt. Everything else is, perhaps unsurprisingly, fine.
Hopefully gearbox gets its repair tomorrow and I get it back on Thursday.

Yes, the selector fork is modified to make the gear engage properly. The dogs on 3rd wear due to the selector being weak then it starts jumping out under load. I believe the detent is stronger too.

It's back and fixed, it seems.
Expensive for a 4th service at £468, but I think that's par for the course with Mitsubishi or any main dealer. It did include transfer box oil change.
