Excellent choice. Absolutely love it. I think you will notice a change with your fuel costs though. Thanks James. Yes, it will use more fuel and I’ll get 5p / mile less when I use it for work. I’ve based my calculations and new budget on 25mpg, so should be OK.

Nice colour. Range Rovers are probably one of the nicest places to sit so considering your mileage not a bad choice.
Did you look at a Volvo XC90? My neighbour is on his second of the latest shape as he couldn’t find anything he liked more.

My neighbour is on his second of the latest shape as he couldn’t find anything he liked more. As much as I like our xc90 it’s a bit of a poor mans Range Rover. Very nice Martin. What a wafter. I never mentioned one as I really didn’t think you’d step away from the Germans. I’m really surprised at the choice. My boss is after the exact same car. I borrowed hiS old one on a number of occasions and loved it, apart from the reliability. Range rovers must do funny things to people. He’s had 4 Range Rovers since I’ve worked with him, they always give him the odd headache, sells them for something German and boring and within a year he’s back in a Rangie again.

I surprised myself a bit, but I’ve always had one in my ‘dream garage’,
I believe you get the chip inserted when you go on the new owners driving experience! Looking forward to doing that when they open up again, I really enjoyed the one I did many years ago and think it will be even better when it’s in the same car as the one you drive.

Byron blue is the best LR colour We'll have to agree to differ on that. I don't dislike it but I confess that I don't particularly like it either. However, the main thing is that it isn't black or white.

However, the main thing is that it isn't black or white. It did look really good surrounded by a see of Black/Grey/White cars. On the pre facelift cars Dark Green (Aintree green I think) was a standard metallic, not the only way is to order British Racing Green which is a £4,600 option or £6,200 if you go for the Spectral version. The pictures I posted aren't great, maybe why you liked it a bit more when Pete shared pictures of his RR Sport, which looks closer to how it does out in the wild. I only know this because I thought he'd had a Byron Blue Sport so did a search and saw your comment! Jan 24, 2019 19:18:03 GMT 1 racingteatray said: That is a nice colour. And nice wheels. Much better than the black one we discussed the other day. Personally not one for coal-hole interiors but that's just taste - the interior design on LR products is very good.
I must be getting old. When I was younger I used to dislike what I termed "washed-out" blues and lighter greens, and beige-y colours, whereas now I am starting to rather like them.

Well that happened quickly, I thought it was just a general muse on the problem - I didn't realise the decision had already been made. I love Range Rovers of all types, despite their drug dealer/shady property developer connotations. I especially like the sliver blue you've chosen, my dad had a Cortina in a similar colour and it's the one I always remember it was the only colour he and my mum agreed on both liking.
I sometimes borrow our MDs RR and it's like driving a sofa, perched up high above the surrounding traffic, looking down on the peasants around you.

Lovely car - at least LR customer service are well practised at resolving any problems...at least yours will be tried and tested technology not a completely new powertrain!
We too went into a LR dealership at the weekend and have settled on a considerably smaller RR for my next company car - almost sorted the spec on it too but JLR is about 10 years behind with loads of individually priced options rather than loading it all into a few trim levels

What spec are you going for? There are model trim levels than most manufacturers and do have equipment packs as well, but there are still a lot of individual options. Very different to Mercedes.

Indeed it will be an Evoque hybrid in free black and either SE or HSE format with a wheel downgrade to 18" to get the all important 40mile range and 6-8% tax The S is quite basic and by the time you add the 'essentials' on it it costs more than the SE and there are several things on the HSE we actively don't want (keyless entry, clearview rear mirror) but if you want to get things like the cooled seats then you need the 'posh' windsor leather. It would do your head in Martin - the inconsistencies in the speccing eg no one knows which option is required to get zoned seats and the dealers keep giving different answers of the 3 possibles - Piers is helping with a contact he has to get an answer... Additional Toys - Pano Roof, Matrix LED lights, Electric steering wheel adjust, Drive pack (for Blind Spot Monitoring) 360 Camera, and a late addition to the party after seeing them, the Black pack. Coming to the conclusion that the cooled seats aren't worth the trade up to a HSE with all the downsides that model has. SE Build build.landrover/DF8B30ADHSE Build build.landrover/0CE2F7ECI think it will be the SE as most of the toys are options on all of them. It is fearsomely more expensive (lease and list) than the XC40 or X1 PHEVs but the tax difference brings the monthlies down to within £15 or so You would be impressed with the man maths at work!
Is a black car with the black pack the automotive equivalent of double denim?

Nice Brian, should have a useful turn of speed with that power. However, since when has a mid spec Evoque been 52 grand? That more then raised an eyebrow.

It does look better in Pete's photos. But also because Pete's car didn't have the silver trim - I think that's the combination I'm not sure about - the pale blue and the silver gills etc.

Good choice of option Bryan. With what you've added to the SE, you might as well go for the HSE. I've had a look at the price list and the extra £3k doesn't seem too horrendous for the nicer leather (plus a bit more of it), cooled seats and upgraded Meridian sound system. So even if you're not bothered about the keyless entry and clear view mirror, both of which I really like, it still makes sense. Always good to see man maths at work!

I'm not really a fan of pale metallics but that looks pretty good, especially with proper silver wheels.
Re-the entry height issue does it have a grab handle on the A-pillar? If you use your left hand to pull yourself in its pretty easy - we do that on the Toyota and Mrs Tim is only 5 feet tall. I don't like steps anyway, they're always too close to the sill and I'm sure I've got my toes caught more than once and twisted my ankle a bit. Plus they're invariably slippery when wet which is a danger to your shins. Maybe LR ones are better though?

The suspension drops 50mm and if you have the seat higher up, which Lindsay will have, then the seat lowers at the same time the wheel moves up. It all helps, but it's still not idea. I agree with you on the fixed side steps, they can't stick out very far so do end up being quite close to the sill and they will get filthy. The deployable ones fit flush, you'd have to be a proper spotter to tell it has them fitted and they come out quite a bit further than the fixed steps, so should be OK. I don't know how dirty or wet they will get, but it will be better than the fixed ones. These are aftermarket ones, but gives you an idea of how far they come out when the door is open. They are about 2/3rd of the price, but I wouldn't want to fit non genuine, especially something that connects in to the cars electronics!

Real shame you have to downgrade the wheels to get that co2 reduction. The standard 20s on the SE are the nicest wheels in the range build.landrover/EFBAFAE1If I was getting a HSE, I would select the extended leather to cover the dash top and door top rolls. The deep garnet interior colour option is fab, looks great with Indus Silver.

Well done Bryan. I suppose the SE v HSE argument needs to be decided on cost over the term given it is a company car and there are tax implications.
There seems to be a move towards British cars on this forum: 2 RR's and we might even end up with a Jag!

Our company Nissan Navara's have fixed side steps, but I find them more of a nuisance than anything. Not needed for my long legs, but stick out just enough to muddy my trousers when climbing in or out.
Does the RR have the memory system linked to each key? If so, it would be useful if you could configure the side steps to deploy with Lindsay's key but not with yours.

The deployable ones stick out further, so should be fine, the fixed ones would have been a pain. I won't need them, but will use them as it will stop any wear on the seat bolster. You can set them to on, off or roof access via the touchscreen. They used to have profiles linked to the individual keys, but removed that functionality a few years ago for some reason. I'm sure it won't be the only thing that I've got used to that it won't have or do.

Got to love Martins product knowledge - he knows the capacity of his step! I’d definitely have the car six months before I realised it even had a step. Martin, if the job doesn’t work out (which seems unlikely given that they’re paying you well enough to buy a Range Rover) you could become an online car oracle. “Martin, I’ve got a bmw x5m.
