What's the massive 90 degree pipe on top of the rocker cover?

What's the massive 90 degree pipe on top of the rocker cover? It looks to me like it could be the air intake on the inlet manifold, but Mark will confirm.

3 years on and no further progress. I have listed this a a semi completed project on ebay. I really don't like giving up on stuff, but I don't have the time to devote to it and I have lost interest.
The only Land Rover I have any real desire to own is a Series IIA and I am not actually that bothered about that as I have other priorities over that too.

I don't blame you! There are only so many hours in the day. Work, family/social life, and keeping fit and healthy (which also means a decent amount of rest and regular sleep!) are taken care of, there is very little left - it makes sense to prioritise doing what you truly enjoy with that. Vehicle projects are a massive amount of work and can need a full garage of tools and kit...
Personally I annoy myself with my lack of patience for DIY and spannering (usually on bikes in my case) sometimes. Every job I try seems to involve a huge amount of reading up, buying specific tools and so on (bike makers change everything all the time these days) - there are usually plenty of things I'd rather be doing!! Car licking (TM Racing) I enjoy as I enjoy the output, its exercise, and it keeps me outside - each to their own!
What are you doing intead??

I'm busy on my friend's farm a lot of the winter and I want to be doing other stuff over summer.
See the caravan thread. 😀

Well if you have lost interest and don;t have the time that's the right decision. Somebody else may well finish the project that you stared. Or of course they may buy it and it will sit in their garage unfinished for many years. Before they sell it.... One of my friends has a kit car that he started about 40 years ago, got to a rolling chassis and then...well, it's still a rolling chassis. It's even moved house with him a few times.

It is a shame but interests change and life gets in the way! I've mostly got 1 rx8 seat installed in the Elan!😂

Bit of a shame that Mark but a project like that only works so long as you have the time and energy to devote to it and it can be frustrating when a lack of either gets in the way. I can imagine there will be someone else out there who'll want to give it a go so I doubt you'll struggle to find a buyer.
