Not to spoil it but if you get today's it wants both the Japanese name AND the US name to give you the point.

I went to check the status of my old Porsche 993. I was upset to find out that its MOT ran out in 2022 with no further update. On investigation, it turns out the car is in the process of having 350K spent on a restomod. What does 350k get you in terms of work done to a 911?

Not an easy set of pictures to view Chris but it really does show the worst side of humanity. No one comes out of this looking good and its sad to see how little our Western leaders are doing to bring it to an end. There's no winners on either side.

Our local vote is only to chose a Police Commissioner Think that's the same here in Horsham District. I'm so uninterested you could fit all the fucks I give in a thimble with plenty of room to spare. As for London. Looks like Siddiq will get back in but what's he going to do after the general election? He can't keep blaming his failing on the government if his own party's in power!

It's just the circle of life and part of the natural food Web that benefits the whole ecosystem if both predator and prey can thrive. Yes these mice will provide food for owls but the owls eating them will stop them breeding like rabbits and overrunning the place. The owls will also have other prey that they will help control. More owls is also a good thing for no other reason than that they are great animals. Sorry to go all Packham there.

I think the added issue with e bikes and scooters is that they often get used and abused and if the batteries get damaged eg. If the bike falls over when propped against a garden wall during a delivery, the battery is more likely to be damaged. Also consider the energy required to move a person and their takeaway on a bike compared to the energy required to power an RC car or sonic toothbrush and inevitably the batteries will be much more energy dense and powerful so I would imagine produce more heat. You're also more likely to charge your bike or scooter by your front door than you would one of these other smaller electronics, which adds to the issue of fires in these items trapping people in their homes.
I agree we shouldn't pander to conjecture but there is an issue with these cheaper ebikes and scooters and so I personally suggest my customers dont have them in their buildings, especially not charging. But there's no legislation to say they can't so it's up to them if they want to have that risk.

The stats from London Fire Brigade are frightening when it comes to E bikes. They've had a massive number of call outs to house fires started by E bikes, most worryingly in blocks of flats where users have been charging them indoors, often in their hallway which is their only means of escape. You don't need me to spell out the dire consequences of having your only exit from a 10th floor flat blocked by a blazing lithium battery fire (blazing really is the word because these things go up like a fireworks factory).
The biggest risk is when they're charging as this causes the battery's to overheat and the situation isn't being helped by their increased in popularity with takeaway delivery riders who buy imported ones that are illegally modified to have more power and don't meet British Standards.

Glad I'm not the only one who keeps track of what their old cars are up to. Nearly all are still on rhe road with the exception of my first company car which was an 06 plate Civic, though that really was knackered by the time the lease company had it back.

I did one of those three drive experiences with Everyman for my 30th (10 years ago!) and went out in an Atom, Gallardo and Ferrari 360. On all three drives I was required to get up to top gear as quick as possible and keep it there which was a tad disappointing but I figured that given how cheap they sell the experience the likelihood is that they want to minimise the chances of crashes or mechanical failure. All three cars felt just about mechanically sound but the Lambo was particularly ropey inside and the Ferrari not much better. It was fun enough that most people would have enjoyed their day and good value at that money.

Funnily enough I spotted a Tesla story in the i newspaper that I picked up at Gatwick yesterday regarding some job cuts at their Chinese factory. The accompanying photo was interesting I'm guessing the real reason for the layoffs was because those workers have been pointlessly building a load of internal combustion engines without realising Teslas are EVs!

The mpg figure of 61 is very good. My long term average is about 56 but that includes a lot of running in EV mode as I charge it up whenever I visit the office. The analogue dials and smaller screen with knobs below is not an option on UK models so I'm guessing we dont get the true base model in this market.
Of your criticisms I agree re the cruise. That winds me up too especially as the mk7 Golf I ran previously had these on the steering wheel. I dont think you can cast too much shade on them for the lane assist being on all the time. That's not their fault as it's a requirement of all cars and to be fair it can be turned off with two presses of the driver assistance button on the wheel so it doesn't cause me any issues.
I'm finding mine is OK to run and drive although the boot is slightly restricted by the PHEV battery but that's saving me enough company car tax to be forgivable!

It's a shame they've dropped the offset front number plate and that grill with the embossed Alfa snake is either tacky. I could imagine a ropey 159 on a council estate having something similar.
Otherwise it look fine but will probably just be another samey samey small SUV

I suppose the car manufacturers are just doing what Apple do with their products. Which is fine when you have a product people queue round the block to buy, less so on Mercedes new models. I like the SL and GT but do they sell anything this side of 100k that we'd call desirable? Not to you maybe but for many people even a base model new CLA is a very desirable step up from the Qashqui their fellow middle class 30 somethings have on the drive and a new C class does still hold some cache in the company car park (at least it would if everyone wasn't working from home!)

That's about what the Octavia manages with a 1.4 turbo so Porsches hybrid system must be a tad more effective than Skodas! That was the 750i. The Panamera does 36-37mpg on the motorway when the battery is empty. That's still pretty good if doubling the cylinder count, tripling the capacity and putting it in a heavier car only results in a 10mpg deficit. Perhaps it's more a poor showing from the VAG plug in hybrid power train. I've got colleagues with Octavias as well as A3 and Golf PHEVs and they're getting similar figures.

The alternative is to emigrate to a country that speaks English and where there are no plans to phase ouit cars powered by internal combustion engines. I'm of the age where I hope I die before I have to have an electric-powered vehicle Not quite with you there Chris. As much as they're not for enthusiastic driving, EVs are fine to drive on day to day duties. I'm starting to prefer the Octavia when it's got a bit of battery charge as it's so much smother in E-mode. But it's so heavy it's utterly shite at being hustled down a country road so that's where I can see how a lot of people will be holding on to their petrol powered sports cars as long as possible and given how stable the price of fuel currently is then it is perfectly possible to do so for a while yet.

Surely the dealer could arrange for a swap with a black steering wheel? Knowing the way manufacturers are managing their production processes at the moment, even if it were possible, I doubt they'd let you without adding several months to the lead time. If you still like the iPace it's probably an OK option but I do think there are much better EVs out there now that will probably be a lot cheaper to lease. Have you considered one of the non-premium brand vehicles like and EV6 or Ioniq 5?

I have a couple of good contacts for shipping if they are of any use to you? Might be yes. The backdrop is that we were thinking of doing a road trip in Norway, but the car hire for two weeks is extortionate. So Mrs RT was wondering about road tripping there in the Macan from London and then shipping the car back. I suspect it’s an insane idea but promised to look into it. Or let her get a flight home if she'd rather not drive and you can continue enjoying some fun roads across Europe for a few days.

I spotted a 24 Plate F Pace yesterday. Was amazed they were still selling them. There must have been at least two new generations of X5 since it came out. In slightly similar vein, saw a brand new full fat Rangie just now! Given the lousy press re theft recently, that was a surprise! Was it full a four burly men in balaclavas?

Me Too. It struggled against the last 3 series so must be light years behind the current one. Did it? Every test I read suggested it was superior to the 3 series. Try telling the market that!
