Like a couple of others on here I get a vote for the Mayor of London, as does W2.1.
London. One of the largest cities in the world, which if it were an independent state would have the 18th largest economy in the world: just behind the Netherlands. I point this out because reading through the list of 13 candidates I’m afraid none are actually suitable. Of the main parties Khan is a continuation of virtue signalling inactivity; Susan Hall (C) is so out of touch that even her own (disastrous) party are raising eyebrows; and Rob Blackie (LD) launched his bid (and pretty much his political career) a full six weeks ago.
The Green candidate comes from Hackney and has the obligatory pink hair; there is a Reform candidate that seems only interested in ULEZ, an SDP candidate that caused me consternation at the realisation they still exist and it is telling that the only other candidate to get any kind of media profiling is Count Binface, who’s only failing is a policy of using the Royal Palaces for housing the homeless as opposed to utilising the tens of thousands of unaffordable apartment blocks that have multiplied like locust colonies. There are 6 other candidates that are all hopeless vanity cases, to the extent it might be doubtful that they garner support from their own families.
So it comes to pass that my vote is likely going to the man in the shiny bin suit. I refuse to “not vote” or spoil my ballot so a valid candidate that reflects the paucity of the contest wins out.
What a desperate state of affairs.
