Saw my first Disco 5 on the way to Darlington today. It's imposing to say the least. Didn't get a proper look at the back.

Didn't get a proper look at the back. You say that like it's a bad thing.

A 911R just outside Banbury this evening. It was black with what looked like grey stripes, but was difficult to tell as it was going so quickly in the opposite direction.

Several decent spots on the run to Bath and back today. Numerous Caterhams, plenty of Boxsters and 911s, a Hummer stretch limo, various classics, Ferrari 308, Tesla Model X, RR Wraith, RR Phantom, a mint H reg Lexus LS400 and a seriously scruffy E60 M5.

I forgot I saw a Lumma FF Range Rover in Glasgow on Saturday. It was awful, white paint with a black roof and a wide-body kit.
I've also seen a wide-body equipped Mk1 X5 in Dundee a couple of times, it's 'graced' with a bonnet bulge complete with scoop. Vile.

I am so sorry I could not photo this, but was driving so will do my best to describe this 'car'.
Ahead of me was a lexus gs300 on an o3 plate, the rear tyres were at least 355s and the fronts not much smaller, they were splayed out from the car (tops of the tyres pointing in towards the car and the bottoms of the tyres out away from the car) .The guy had an awful exhaust on as well, but then it got worse. The road opened up to dual carriageway so I overtook him,as I went by I observed he had extended the wheelarches to accommodate the wheels by badly cutting some nasty plastic and rivetting it to the car .Each extension was not uniform in length or shape.

I also had the misfortune to see 2 new Discovery 5s last night.
They were parked close by and it was interesting to see the difference that colour made - one was in Corris Grey with silver wheels and just about looked acceptable, the other was in copper with black roof and wheels and looked atrocious.
The latter was also parked next to a VW Tiguan and made it look like a toy car, partly because the Disco had the suspension clearly set to 'maximum wading depth'. That also emphasised the height/width mismatch even more.
I also really disliked the front 3/4 of the copper one (I only looked at the grey one from the rear)
Mrs Tim (a woman of impeccable taste naturally) likened it to a Mk1 Rodius..............

It appears to be an advance on the Euro-look concept. I've seen rather a lot of E46 3 series with the lowered/splayed look and they've had DIY surgery to the front arches, often with some duct tape to round off the sharpest edges.

I believe it is referred to as "stanced". That, or "fucked up."

The thing about these cars is the owners love them.Jay kay on top gear was going on about them and I know a couple of serious collectors both of whom when I asked what their favourite car was they owned both said one of these.

Tesla model S a D60 in town. No idea of any sound as Bess drowns most things out since the engine cove3r was stolen by scrappies. No insulation on the replacement.

I saw a Tesla Model X in Dundee City Centre yesterday. I only saw it from the rear 3/4 and rear and it was ok although perhaps a bit too 'soap bar' to be stand out. The size hasn't really come across very well in the magazine photos.

I drove a Diablo while working in Riyadh, partly because me and a mate were doing the ten year old glued to the window and left smudge marks. A second Tesla model S today and a Maserati Quattroporte in Asda of all places.

I went to the London Motor Show today. Even where I parked was some sort of motor show! A dusty Ferrari F12, C63 Black Series, Aventador, Huracan and a 458.
Saw a Cayman GT4 and a Mercedes GT-C yesterday. When you've seen those types of cars in the same day, that is a great day!

A couple of the new MX5 RFs recently: a grey one that I thought looked good, and a red one which I didn't. A white first generation Integra Type R, apparently unmolested and in nice condition. And a black McLaren 650S yesterday, on the A46 when I was driving home from work. It was coming towards me and it looked ace.

A 997 GT3 today. Not something I've seen outside a car event in a long time.

It is very colour sensitive but one thing is for sure, like the Disco 4 the Disco 5 looks instantly awful on black wheels I saw two Disco 5's close up over the weekend. One parked up and one on the motorway. They look good in the metal. Way, way better than in photos.

I saw a restored, late 1960s Toyota FJ jeep thing on Saturday. On the motorway, bet the owner had a headache!!

A new Porsche 991 Targa last night when out for a walk. It looked fantastic in a darkish silver - nowhere near grey, just silver with attitude. Unfortunately as he left the 30mph zone and put his foot down, the sound was disappointing - a bit hollow and lacking meat if that makes sense. Don't get me wrong, this car is a definite lottery list member but in comparison to the sound of the old 3.6/3.8 naturally aspirated cars which you can almost feel when they accelerate, this (as a bystander) was much less of an event. However I am sure the owner still had a massive smile.
We also saw a lovely old silver bumper MGB Roadster and my 13 year old daughter exclaimed "what's that?"
It's Costa Del Scotland at the moment so all the interesting stuff is appearing on the roads and everyone is out walking and smiling - it sure makes a difference.

A new Tipo estate; looks fairly innocuous.
.... and I now regularly pass a black Alfa 146 on the M3 on my way to work. It's driven at a very sedate 60mph approx, and looks in very good condition

I noticed quite a few Fiat Tipos over the weekend but as with so many modern designs there's nothing about it to suggest FIAT apart from the badge.
Actually on consideration that's a bit unfair - at least you can't accuse them of using the design dept photocopier in the way BMW/Audi/VW do.
Anyway this morning I saw a 1978 T reg Porsche 911 Targa heading into Dundee. It was dark green, looked in very good condition but was missing the front bonnet. I presume it's in the final stages of a body restoration.
Also spotted a Merc A Class Halfords special. Why does a 5 door hatch need to have 'dive planes' on the corners of the front bumper along with a comedy roof spoiler? If it was a Ford they'd be severely taken to task.....

I saw a 17 plate Tipo hatchback this morning, first one I've ever seen, looked pretty dull to me.
Also saw an 17 plate A45 with the silly spoiler pack on the way home yesterday, thankfully it's an option, as is the bright green paint.

The Tipo IS dull, you could put a KIA badge on and people wouldn't question it.
The A Class I saw with the spoilers wasn't an A45 and was driven by a gent who appeared to be in his 60s. I'm sure the A45 that did have the spoilers had them painted in a contrasting colour, i.e. it was black, they were red or something like that.
