Is that the only colour those T-Cross things come in?
I don't think Bryan is a 61 year old woman with large hair (including highlights) so I think that bars him from the VW.....

A lady who lives down the road from me has a black Ewok convertible and her husband has a matching Velour. Both are a touch orange....

Both have a spot in the garage Alex, just need the plan to get there.... If I was Ewok orange I could hide against the BMW golden brown seats!!

Back from hols so missed much of this, but interesting what you say about the 440i you looked at, and of course you are experienced enough to buy with head not heart! I drove our G21 330e a lot more and will write a fuller report of it, but I would say that my feeling is the materials quality is not amazing on G20 era 3/4 series - not as strong as the engineering. Its decent, but it can show its age if not looked after, some of the gloss plastics can crack, and orange peel paint is something I see a lot of with BMW. Not on all examples, but some do come this way. Your visit shows that people are bonkers to buy a car sight-unseen!

And fortunately we are visiting Mrs M's parents in Kent this weekend, I may have a look at it. But the cheeky buggers have jacked the price up by £2k!!

Do you specifically want a convertible 4 series , or is it the spec that's caught your eye. Convertible + run flats + lots of power = scuttle shake, wobble and rattle. I like the interior colour and the full extended leather. It is an interesting question - a bit of both really, I've been looking at M4 to get the spec (I like the full cow) but don't really need the complexity/image of one
The F33 4 Series is a good looking car and ticks a lot of practical boxes (new enough to be reliable, old enough not to have touch screens but a good kit count)
I think something we could go on longer trips in, with a reasonable amount of space with an interesting engine but doesn't cost a fortune
The Audi S4 is ideal and an option is to retain that - but mrs M isn't so much of a fan which meant it doesn't get used as much as it could
Turning 50 next year i have notions of Aston Vantage convertible but the running costs scare me
I like the idea of a 997/991 convertible but a little less practicalÂ
What ever I get I am planning on keeping it and the Up for some time as new cars don't really do it for me anymore . I need physical controls, prefer narrower vehicles - all of which starts rulling out anything late teens onwards
Can you switch out runflats for normal tyres or isn't that possible?
I will let you know shortly but I don’t think the running costs on an Aston are more than a 911 now , porsche prices on everything have gone insane .

No , first service on Aston due in July No issues in first year ,but services at dealers tend to involve ‘ this needs doing ‘ so I don’t want to hedge my bets on the service cost .

Oh dear, there was me thinking I could drop a 0 off the end of an Aston bill running a 911! I’ve had quite a few issues with the gt3 and macan nothing major but I honestly don’t think they are as robust as they used to be and the dealers have gone mental with servicing and parts .

And fortunately we are visiting Mrs M's parents in Kent this weekend, I may have a look at it. But the cheeky buggers have jacked the price up by £2k!! So I went to see it today,it is in lovely condition and they will honour the original £19997 price if bought this weekend. The negative is the used car place is run by kids, they aren't insured for test drivers, but did take us out for a good run. I make a discrepancy in the MOT history mileage which is putting me off, it did have 2 services in Russia in 2015/2017 What do you think to the mileage it seems to go to 35k, then drop 10k to 25k and start going up again. Reg is LO11ZHB Head is starting to win out over heart! www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202405280165063

That does look really "odd" re the mileage going down 10k. And why has it been tested twice in May 2024?

How very odd, not noticed re RRS , Auto trader shows it as FF, as does insurance quote.

That does look really "odd" re the mileage going down 10k. And why has it been tested twice in May 2024? The retesting twice in May was explained as the dealer automatically tests their cars as they go into stock. Bit odd it would be serviced by the seller just before selling it.

After much deliberation I walked away, driven mainly by the dealer not allowing test drives and being a bullshit merchant...someone else is coming to view, then they were delayed 30mins , then coming in a few days as they can't access part ex!?!
The car I could just about have reconciled mileage (kph/miles conversion ) and it living in Belogrod Russia for some years (2 services)

Having seen the state of Russian roads on some of Racing's posts, its probably trashed underneath, I sure as hell would not buy a car that had ever lived there!
Back to BMW's?? There must be plenty of decent 440i out there surely, and its probably as much motor as any of us need, if we are honest...

Call me weird but I really like that outside and in! I love the Oyster leather. On a cab I suppose there's an argument for a lighter colour to not burn yourself, and the wheels are nice. Analogue dash too.
A lot of trade people/places just fit new linglongluvulongtimeditchfinders on cars for sale, car supermarkets have to do so over a certain mm of tread depth, I've seen M cars and QF's sold that way. Ridiculous for sure...
BTW, at that price, you are heading into F30 M3 and even the bottom end of QF territory. Though both have massively higher running costs (unless you are lucky and get one with a lot - especially brakes and major services - just done). F30 M3's are indeed great value though not cheap to run by all accounts..... They were what got me looking at "proper" stuff again after initially wanting to replace the XFR with a 440....

Weird The M4 is easier to find in my choice of spec but I don't think it would be happy cruising about which is 99% of my driving, especially the dct box, angry engine etc.
