All the diamond cut wheels on BMWs of that age start to lose the lacquer from the centre. If you look at more recent BMW wheels the bit around the centre is now always painted to prevent that happening. You can only refurb a diamond cut wheel twice and then it needs to be painted. However I recently saw a set of wheels which had been powder coated and where the diamond cut would normally have been they had used bright silver - it worked very well.

Looks very nice so disappointing that it wasn't as pretty as described, the wheels and tyres you can negotiate in the deal but if you feel the cars a bit rough then there isn't much you can do about that.

I was disappointed - partly by the lack of leather smell and the fact the wear in the cabin would grate eg the Aluminium hexagon was wearing through on the door pulls. Plus in my head it is being priced at the top end so should be wearing it's miles lightly. He offered 2 new rear tyres (and I could buy the fronts) and could arrange a wheel refurb for £500.
I looked at some main dealer cars - interesting one in Yeovil but 4 owners, it seems a lot of BMW stock is multiple PCP owners - it didn't look very loved
I had initially discounted this one due to the wheels but am starting to warm to it - despite being near Dundee!
Is Citrine Black - browny? Was the Carbon pack a genuine BMW option or aftermarket? I can't find anything about it
Similarly is the exhaust a BMW performance item that you were talking about Racing?
I'm trying to get the Spec sheet but are those the Adaptive lights? It has wood trim and leather dash which looks far better with Red seats with the lower dash in black! There is a lot to like 1 owner 37k and I hope not driven on salty roads to much?

I'm struggling with the last one....it's too far off original for me. The wheels, rear spoiler and exhaust ruin it but the wheels at least are pretty easy to replace and at least you can take the dodgy M badge off! Interesting combo of Dakota and leather dash, you won't get the leather smell you are hoping for (Dr Leather wipes will help temporarily!) but it's a good half way house and looks much better with the wood trim than aluminium. Citrine black does look a bit brown in the sun.
I'm 99% sure the M Performance exhaust has a single pipe each side as per the standard car.
They are the adaptive LEDs, the easy way to tell is to look at the horizontal plastic strip, if it's the centre then they are the decent units.

I was of the same mind but underlying car quite good, adaptive suspension, adaptive lights, nice options.
Depends if exhaust and carbon bits are genuine and how rear spoiler is fixed
I'm hoping he has genuine wheels in summer tucked up in the garage

I've got the tech spec for the 4 series and can't see a carbon pack listed, could be a performance accessory?

As Martin said the MPPSK exhaust is a single pipe either side and there was never a carbon option for the grill.
I quite like Citrine Black - it does look a bit brown when the sun shines but there is a depth and warmth to the colour which is nice.
It's strange that what look like summer wheels are fitted with winter tyres. Chances are the old wheels were sold or are in a real state.

Equally strange is paying for MSport pro pack and putting those monstrosities on. Which cost him £2700!! I'm half hoping he has all the standard bits in his garage. Shame it's not closer to have a butchers. Will see if he responds to my email via Autotrader Maybe h

Perhaps wait. The current selection for sale doesn't look particularly inspiring.

A while back I spent a while looking at 440is and came to the conclusion that an M4 was a better choice at the price.

That's the conclusion I came to when looking at cars with the BMW B58 engine then eventually buying an M4.
Does it have to be a 4 series? I've always thought Mercedes do the whole 4 seater convertible better. Plus they use cloth roofs which, according to the convertible roof expert I saw on Johnny Smith's Late Brake Show (Boxster episode), seem to be preferable once the seals have been up and down for a few years.
Either way, I think I'd be looking to keep the 928 as well.

That Macau blue M4 is a bit special. Martin pointed out an M3 in that colour many years ago and I phoned to go and see it and it was gone! I still think about it and wonder what I missed.

There seems to be more choice along the price points. Plus I may be working in the office more/increasing my commuter miles in a few months so a C43 or E43 might work better for me. Sorry for the hijack bryan!

I do like an F-Type but the convertible in particular is ridiculously impractical - my Z1 had more boot space than an F-Type.
The Jackwish looks good value...
Never been overly keen on Alpina's take on the Z4 - I think it's one design that is ill-suited by the Alpina styling additions. I'd rather have the equivalent Z4M convertible.

I really like Alpina in general, but not the Z4, it's a lot less subtle.

Add a Maserati and you’ll have a great two car garage! Or two cars in the garage….!
