Looks at home in its role! Good decision on the 20” wheels, I’m sure they will really improve the way it drives / cruises.

I should think it barely knew the caravan was behind it. Presumably far easier going than with the Mitsubishi? Indeed. Pickups on leaf springs tend to stot when towing. I could also keep speed up the hills without having to flog it. Makes a big difference.

I don't think these wheels are 100% round so anything will be an improvement. I haven't seen anything here except some lovely new Defender wheels, but they won't fit, despite being same pattern.

LRO show was a bust in terms of shopping. The location was fabulous, though.
I've sourced a set of HST style wheels with a matching set of Pirellis on with decent tread. They will need refurbishment at some point, but they aren't too bad - especially at under £500 for the set.
Genuine rubber mats ordered from LR Parts.

They aren't in bad condition, but I've dropped them off at Alloyfix in Westerhope for refurbishment. Cost £300 to be put back to standard bright silver which should look smart against the black.
Tyres are in really good condition. I'll probably get a new set of stainless wheelnuts and centre caps.

New standard sill covers ordered from a breaker via eBay to enable the side steps I ordered to fit - all fitted - Lindsey is happy as she can get in and out a lot easier. New height sensor on the rear right sorted the slight lean it had, but caused multiple other issues. I was getting a "cross articulation fault" code and all the air would dump and limit me to 30mph. Pulling up live data on the scan tool showed fluctuations in the front left height sensor, despite no movement. Replaced this and hopefully all seems well. I need to take it on an extended test drive to check though. Just waiting for the new wheels to come back from the refurbisher.

Funnily enough one of the car-mad Mezz-partners at work just sold his RS4 and his wife's BMW i3 and bought one of these and a GR Yaris. He loves the wafty feeling of it and it's likely to make him keep his license in the Sussex countryside. Not sure that applies to the Yaris though.....

Much better! Nicer to drive / better ride too? Noticeably so. The suspension is now fully calibrated too which has made a huge difference to how it feels.

They really suit it Mark and when you post pics like that it's easy to appreciate just how spot on they got the design of the L322.

Just taken a friend's TD5 90 down to Sowerby Bridge today for a rechassis. I've towed the borrowed trailer with the pickup previously and it was as expected. For a long distance trip I fancied the Range Rover. Programmed the Webasto heater last night and the car was toasty warm this morning. Trailer may as well have not been attached. The 4.4 is a phenomenal engine. I really do love this car. It felt so stable towing.

There really is something just right about a 4.4 litre engine!!

Makes me wonder if you really still need the pickup. Other than to keep the RR clean by avoiding the really dirty jobs there isn't much the L200 can do that the RR can't.

I've contemplated getting shot of it and buying a Series Land Rover for winter farm stuff. We do need 2 4x4 as the MX-5 is useless in the winter for Lindsey if I'm away or at work.
It's marginally complicated as the L200 is a company van and not mine personally.
The issue with this is that I put myself in the same situation that made me get shot of the 90 and get the pickup in the first place.

That sounds as if you'd rather Bryan hadn't asked... It's a long term project though so I'm sure it'll be worth it in the end when you have the time to enjoy finishing it.

If you can I'd keep the L200 as well as the RR. Otherwise if you get an old 90 for winter, even with the best of intentions you'll have a terrible sense of deja vue. As when it is off the road for [insert problem here] you'll have to buy something else, maybe an old Disco?, to use.....

The L200 is virtually guaranteed to be reliable and costs not a lot to run so getting shot will result in a depreciation hit for nothing.

We have our first breakdown. Not exclusive to a Land Rover product - belt tensioner pully has disintegrated resulting in a shredded belt.
No PAS, charging or water pump etc - handy that it did it on the drive and not on the motorway when I am collecting a mate's 90 that's just had a rechassis at Alpine Restorations in Sowerby Bridge.
I've had a quick look at it and I am trailering it to Washington Land Rovers on the way to pick up said 90. Belt, tensioner and multiple idler replacement looks an absolute bastard of a job so a specialist can sort it.
I'm going to get him to check the lower arm bushes as well as there is an occasional very slight shimmy that disappears under braking.

Collected it today. Very glad to have it back, but it does show that running something like this, a second vehicle is very definitely needed. The L200 is going nowhere.

This comes back around to why, much as I might fancy something like a Velar P400 or even SV, I am not prepared to have an expensive modern vehicle as my daily driver that I don't entirely trust to proceed on all occasions required of it.
T'was ever thus - as I've noted before, my father had three Range Rovers in succession during the 1990s and not one of them was any sort of paragon of reliability - the first (Vogue SE) tried to kill my stepmother, the second (Vogue LSE) tried to kill me and the third (4.6 HSE) was almost never to be seen without some fluid or other piddling out of it in an unplanned manner. In fact the last one was so unreliable that he switched to one of the original Audi Allroads and has had German cars ever since.
In a way it's some kind of miracle that so many people are prepared to put up with it.

My Range Rover was completely faultless in 40,000 miles and just over 3 years. I don’t think that’s anywhere near as rare as some people think.
The 750 had a leaking oil pipe into one of the turbos and a coolant leak about a year later, it never let me down mechanically, but did need recovery when I had quite a bad puncture. My Dads 630 GT has had a few issues, latest was a stuck fuel flap just before Christmas. The 535d was much better, that was fault free over 96,000 miles / 3.5 years.
