******* arrives on Wednesday, Polo goes For some years I have wanted an automatic and the opportunity has arisen, not that anyone else seems remotely interested as it's nothing in the region of £80k or more, nor is it fast or desirable, but it is bright Why not start a thread about it? I ramble on about all sorts of my stuff which I am sure most aren't interested in, but I try to avoid doing it in other people's threads. Whatever you have bought will have to be more attractive than Mark’s mangled finger.

I hope I will be collecting it on my way home from work tomorrow.....

Lovely, well done.
I was going to post a picture saying hello from its smaller relation, but 'add image to post' isn't working for me at the moment...

Be interesting to park that Porsche next to Eva as it looks not much taller at the roofline.

Is that picture deceptive or is the Macan no longer than the 4GC?

There’s about 1cm in it - they are essentially the same length. This was an important consideration when I was originally thinking that I needed it to be able to fit into our garage in Italy.

Franki has just bought one to replace his Cayenne (SUV thread) I had missed that! Not only yesterday was I dealing with the car, but we’ve had window fitters in since Monday, finishing today…

Now that the photo uploading seems to be working again - hello from little mid-engined brother (freshly ceramic coated) in similar colour spec for bodywork, wheels and brake callipers: Your wheels are the same design as on the 718 Cayman GT4. I think they suit the Macan better than the Cayman - I prefer my wheel design on the Cayman to the GT4 offering.

I sense another Mini-meet needed!
Or perhaps we need a proper meet?

I thought the same as PG. Just had a look on Automobiledimensions and they say it's 9cm longer and 10cm wider (closer in width to my car than the GC). Not an issue now you don't need to worry about garage space, just for interest.

That just looks 'right' to me, nice to see there still are motors that fit that description. Far too many gurning soovee's.

How are you getting in with the Macan? Lindsay has declared that despite having a dislike of SUVs, she’d be happy with a Macan. I took a GTS for an unaccompanied 50 mile test drive yesterday and did really like it, probably more than I expected. The only downsides are the cost, I’d have to cut things I’d like to get it down to £85k (£87k otr which seems like an awful lot for a mid size suv) and the interior, which does feel like a generation or two behind. Interior space was OK, but I couldn’t sit behind my driving position. Leg room was tight but the bigger issue was my head touching the roof in the car with a Panoramic Roof. The lack of shortcut buttons for the infotainment was annoying but maybe that would be better with time. Lead time isn’t a downside, as they have 2 spec amendable slots (GTS only) for September build (Oct delivery, so c4 months) and another couple for October build. The one I drove had the GTS Sport package, which along with a lot of alcantara means Sports Air Suspension and P Zero Corsa tyres, but I thought it rode pretty well and I really liked the way it drove when you ramped things up a bit. 23.5mpg overall, which included a fair bit of dual carriageway as that’s where I spend most of my time. I’m far from the best when it comes to car reviews, so I’ll leave it there! One final thing, the Burmester system is brilliant, quite a step up from the Meridian Surround system in my car and worth the money imo. The list price on this one was £97k, an eye watering price, but not quite as shocking as the colour!

If you still like the Golf , maybe wait to see if they do bring the Tonale Quadrifoglio out? Heard loads of rumours about it and if it’s anything like the Stelvio (which I’ve been in) it would be great .

£85k, £87k, or £97k, it is indeed an eye-watering amount for something little bigger than a golf inside.
