I think we are in a bit of a price bubble just now for cars due to the shortage of chips and the long lead times for supply. The current pricing of cars is unsustainable. A colleague's wife has a VW Polo which she got new about 2 and a half years ago for around £16K. The current equivalent is £25K so she is just keeping her old car and has absolutely no intention of paying £25K for a replacement. Used Polo prices are a little insane IMHO. I've been offered about £400 more for my May 2016 Polo than back in December; you think you have problems deciding if you want a Porsche that you can afford, I'm having doubts about keeping the Polo. As you say, the price of new ones is ludicrously high (but the same goes for Skoda Fabias, £25k for a new Fabia or Polo in nothing-like-top-of-the-range trim; can't get my head around that). The Polo was serviced and MoT'd on Monday at the dealer from whom I bought it. Nothing extra needed doing but they reported that the rear discs and pads are 85% worn, the rear tyres are down to 3mm (and although they didn't say, it would be advisable to change the cam belt soon), so it won't be staying too long anyway. I had promised myself an auto for my 60th; temptation to change looms to belatedly satisfy that wish

Fortunately, I asked for a finance quote when I placed the order a year ago and that locked me in 6.4% APR. I was pretty unimpressed with that at the time but now it looks competitive (and much cheaper than what Porsche currently want!). My monthlies would be £520-ish on a 48m deal for a car listing at £79k. Plus deposit! I’d guess it is over £900 a month in total. Obviously, but my point is the monthlies would be much higher at 10.9%. And the deposit is covered by the BMW.

I'd say that is the last of those cheap lease deals, what's the balloon at the end?
Can't lose whatever you do, which car would make you glance back as you park it up? Macan or 4er?

Either. I’ve always glanced back at the GC - for the sort of car it is, it’s very handsome.
But I do also like the latest Macan and like to think I’ve specified it rather nicely. We shall see at 2pm!

Really? Are you going to pick it up at 2pm and are still swithering? I feel for you because that is not the feeling you should have on (potentially) new car day.

Well, I've made my decision about the Polo, what's the decision on the Macan?

Apologies, we were hosting a dinner party last night and both cooking, so didn’t have any time to do much else except rush home! But here are two photos, taken in the showroom and later outside. Colour is amazing and I love the wheels - think I got the spec spot-on. Sounds very nice and cultured in the limited London driving I’ve done so far, less shouty than the BMW on start-up (which can sound like you’ve turned on a power boat until the revs drop). Very plush inside, but I cannot fathom why the iDrive rotary controller for the infotainment isn’t more widely copied by other makers - it’s so much more intuitive and easy to use.

That does look good and is the correct colour/wheel combination as far as I am concerned. It would be nice to see photos of the interior too. Did you trade the 440i or keep it till you decide what to do?

Just missing some contrast stitching to brighten it up a bit, but a very nice place to sit and full leather makes so much difference. Mrs Racing spec is much more to my taste!

Well done Mr M. Nice car all round regardless of how often you may or may not use it.

That is a really nice colour. Dark blue and yet the colour pops in the light.
Now that it's yours, enjoy it!

Looks good. The colour really suits it and I like the interior although I can't help thinking that the 'buttons' either side of the transmission tunnel will have fingerprints on them a lot of the time of you're not careful. The design has aged rather well considering its a few years old now and they've done well to give it modern updates that are in keeping with the original design.

Lovely . Is the new interior all touch screen ? Can’t see the plethora of buttons that porsche do in the macans ?

Haptics, either side of the gear-lever. Invisible when turned off.

Haptics, either side of the gear-lever. Invisible when turned off. The advantage being that you don't have blank switches that make you look like a cheapskate who didn't tick all the option boxes.

Porsche stays, BMW goes.
One can be overly sentimental.

Porsche stays, BMW goes. One can be overly sentimental. ******* arrives on Wednesday, Polo goes For some years I have wanted an automatic and the opportunity has arisen, not that anyone else seems remotely interested as it's nothing in the region of £80k or more, nor is it fast or desirable, but it is bright

Wrong thread Chris, too decisive.
Keeping the Fiesta and Kuga as well?

I was genuinely torn. The GC has been hand on heart the best car of the 20 or so I’ve owned. Some cars just stick out as being “Goldilocks” - not too hot, not too cold - just right.
This was one such car. The other was a Audi A3 1.8T quattro I owned nearly 20yrs ago. That too was just “right”.

I ramble on about all sorts of my stuff which I am sure most aren't interested in, but I try to avoid doing it in other people's threads.

Well, I've made my decision about the Polo, what's the decision on the Macan? Chris - do a thread please or pop it into your motors. I would be interested as I need to get my parents into a smallish (C-Max or smaller) auto and I’m finding it relatively difficult.
