I read earlier that one factor in the shortages is the introduction of E10 which led to retailers and depots draining down their tanks of E5 towards the end of August and not having sufficiently replenished stocks with the new E10 fuel by the time panic set in. Now that we CAN blame on the government. Fancy planning the change-over from E5 to E10 at the same time as a shortage.......... er.. I think you need to read the post again.

I accidentally filled up with Shell Ultimate diesel a couple of weeks ago (in the height of the, er, crisis) and it was over £1.50/litre.

I know motorway service station prices are always high but at Scotch Corner yesterday, regular diesel was £1.68.

That's pricey indeed.
We finally seem to have fuel again in this part of London albeit by no means all the pumps.

I think we had a few days of occasional shortages but it's been normal for a fortnight. I've certainly not seen any queues on roads during the whole thing although one local station had a completely full forecourt when I drove past, albeit when I went past again 2 hours later there was 1 car on it and they still had fuel.

I know motorway service station prices are always high but at Scotch Corner yesterday, regular diesel was £1.68. I think it was 3 years ago I stopped at Annandale Water (Johnstonebridge for the slightly older people who use the M74!) for a pit-stop, and the diesel then was £1.55 a litre!

I made that mistake once too and only put in enough fuel to get me somewhere else! However last night my normal Shell station was £1.559 for VPower petrol and £1.589 for VPower diesel. I don't remember it ever being as high as that!

I paid 158p for vpower, the Evoque runs much better on E5 but will be back on E10 at that price!

I filled the Kuga with diesel this morning, first time I have put fuel in it for over 3 months for various reasons. No queue at the local Sainsburys( only bought there as I was going to get some food) but the price was 137.9 per litre, and it's over 141.9 at all the other nearby garages.
About half the pumps weren't in use but the staff said it was nothing to do with a fuel shortage, they'd gone wrong........ yeah, right...... on 2 "islands" out of 4 ??

Well, it seems people have stopped panic buying petrol and moved onto milk.

Well, it seems people have stopped panic buying petrol and moved onto milk. We've not had any missed visits from the milkman just yet. His deliveries come from a dairy 5 minutes down the road so supplies hopefully won't dry up.

Unfortunately not, it was a steady run up from Suffolk and about 10mpg worse....
First Landrover issue developing over last few weeks, both climate control and ev running have become intermittent, like it thinks it hasn't got any juice.
Typically jlr in being very inconsistent!

Still no issues with my JLR vehicle. I had to fill up the Golf with diet petrol today as I’d arrived in Warrington and didn’t have time to go and find the full fat stuff. Didn’t notice any difference on the way home but it was all motorway / dual carriageway so unlikely to even if there was. It did 2mpg less than on the way up but that’s not much of a variance really (38.2 vs 40.4). Was surprised when I switched it off at home to see the trip time was 2hr 11min, which is exactly the same as the trip time on the way up this morning.

I had to fill up the Golf with diet petrol today..... Better than "free-from" petrol, like many of us have had to accept for most of the past few weeks ??

Fuel is over $5 a gallon in California now. I paid under $2 a gallon a few years ago. The word bidenflation is gaining popularity now for a reason.
