Many left due to COVID, not Brexit, which is why other European countries are also suffering. Not as badly as us. I know lots of European nationals and every single one of them (including my wife I might add) said they no longer felt welcome here post-Brexit. Lots of them (including my wife, who has British citizenship) found themselves receiving unfunny comments at work from colleagues about "so when are you going home?". So sure, when the going gets tough, really what incentive was there for them to stay here? You can try and dress that up any way you like, but in this is the reality for EU citizens in the UK. To them, post-Brexit Britain feels unfriendly, uncompetitive, badly-run and not the future. Yes because Remainers have spent 4 years telling them Brexit means they’re not welcome. In those 4 years I’ve not heard one person who voted for Brexit say that EU Nationals are no longer welcome. Ironic, eh? As for the figure of 1.3 million leaving; since it’s become apparent we had no idea at all how many EU nationals were living here and had underestimated by at least 100%, we have no way of verifying that figure.

As for this being the fault of Remainers, I can only say that you are a loss to the legal profession!

Brexit is not a blame for anything, it's the government's response (or lack of it) that is to blame for a number of issues that we have subsequently experienced. In terms of the fuel situation it's entirely down to the public. People are fucking idiots.
Yes in large part, but as ever I don't believe you'd be quite so forgiving if this was a Labour administration. There were genuinely some fuel shortages. When I stopped at the Tesco in Martlesham on Monday of last week, before this panic blew up, I did notice that half the pumps were out of action because I had to move several aisles down to find the only one that still had super unleaded (I don't normally use super unleaded but treat the car to it every time I go to Suffolk, because at that Tesco it costs less per litre than normal unleaded costs here in my part of west London).

Had to pull into a Shell garage in Salford quays to take a call, I thought they just be out of fuel as there wasn’t anyone at a pump, but only the vPower was out and no restrictions on amount. I’ve got just under half a tank and 240 miles range so I didn’t fuel up..

I can assure you I would be as forgiving because I'm looking at things practically. The problem is people, not politicians, their behaviour and the consequences. The next stage of this is ensuring people are trained to fill those roles and that requires a massive bust up with the university sector which the government won't have the balls to do.
Super unleaded has experienced supply disruption from an increased uptake due to E10, that may explain your recent difficulty.

No fuel supply issues in Derby, all stations seem open and have fuel. Filled up the Evoque on E10 at Costco for £1.25 a litre, but they had no super unleaded.
The Evoque does seem to run rougher on E10, and less economical. May have to try it on Super sometime

Well, the petrol stations around here remain in a complete mess. Most are completely closed and those that have anything have ridiculous queues blocking the local roads, roundabouts etc
I’m on my last 20 miles but had enough to pick up the kids and drop them back to their mums so I may be in ‘lockdown’ again for the next few days.

Shell over the road from work finally had a delivery today; empty since Saturday evening, we had a chat "yes once the tanks are full, you can fill your cars up before we let the general public in" Happy days!
They were already queueing circa 30 deep down the road, prior to us having our "Supermarket sweep!"

^ So how much did you put into the Zoe that you said you were driving??
It's still chaos around where I live with either empty garages or huge queues blocking local roads

Filled my 2 Jerry cans for the mower and quad bike 40 litres total and the pickup with diesel. No queue, no limits and no issues at the Shell in Hexham.

Still the same mess here. Anywhere that has fuel has awful queues. I’m sure a greater % of these are now people genuinely in need but no doubt still compounded by those topping up.
Very frustrating and already had to cancel a trip to see a friend in Kent I’ve not seen in a very long time. Down to my last 30 miles and will just sit out the weekend and review Monday.

I saw my first closed filling station last night - a BP one with the lights off and cones at the pumps, but it was open again and dispensing fuel this morning so they must have had a delivery.
I filled up at the local Shell this morning.

There were issues in Kirkby Stephen yesterday. No queues, but the Shell had no diesel and they were limiting sales to £40. I was down to half which wouldn't last long on the lanes so took the £40 of VPower. The Gulf over the road had both petrol and diesel at a £30 limit.
Both garages at Alston had plenty of fuel when I passed today, but I didn't need any.

I’m going to have to drive to Alderley Edge on Tuesday so I’ll be a little less heavy footed than usual. Surely everyone has a full tank now anyway?

I belive there are stories of people queuing for 30 minutes to top off their tanks with less than £10 of fuel such is the level of anxiety.

Horsham has been completely drained of fuel in all 5 garages in town. When I went to the gym this morning the local Tesco express had just had a delivery so I waited 20mins to fill up as I only had a third of a tank left. By the time I'd finished my workout the queue had gone but so had all the fuel. Seems that the SE and London are still badly hit.
I imaging most people have now filled up at some point since the panic began but a lot are now going back having used of a quarter of their tank.

Finally managed to fill up this morning - was down to 12 miles showing on the dash - a well organised queue in the most part of about 15 mins but still some complete idiots ignoring the cones at one entrance and blocking the main road rather than join the back of the queue in the other direction which is on a private road running parallel to the main road and not disrupting anyone! The good news was that those joining the ‘correct’ queue were filtering in far faster than those trying to avoid it!
Fingers crossed this is all sorted by the time I need to fill again in a week or so!

Still a disaster around here. I'd estimate 10% of filling stations being open. Not sure if we're complete lunatics down here or if its a case of a lack of fuel getting to our areas compared to others.

Not sure if we're complete lunatics down here or if its a case of a lack of fuel getting to our areas compared to others. Taking the lunatics bit as read. Obviously. But I do remember reading somewhere that the most populated parts of the UK have the least number of fuel pumps per car on the road. Makes sense really, what with land being so bloody expensive in the sarf and petrol stations needing lots of room. If I remember Epsom where my parents lived, there are several sites that used to be garages with a few pumps that are now offices or houses and most motor dealers also had a few pumps 30 years ago. Other sites may have got a bit bigger but I doubt that fully compensates and also with fewer bigger sites, if one runs out of fuel....bingo - fuel crisis.

I drove past my local fuel station earlier. It appeared all pumps were available, there were no cars. The price has increased to £1.40 for diesel.

The not-quite-out-of-town Sainsbury’s took a lot of smaller garages out. The queue to get into the business park on Friday at 0615 was mental. The BP at the bottom of Wilmerhatch Lane hasn’t seen petrol for a week, which is just as well as any queue there would just bring Epsom to a standstill. Going out towards Ewell, the A240 has enough petrol stations in normal times (Esso Ewell, Shell Etwelle, BP London Road, Shell Queen Adelaide are all within a couple of miles of one another but when you then look at the housing density and overlay the density of the majority of the residents you see why there are issues.

There are three filling stations near to my office in Coventry and they all had fuel and no queues today. Similarly, the Shell garage in Stratford-upon-Avon, plenty of fuel and no queue.

Just been to the nearest Sainsburys to get some food (got most of what I wanted despite increasing gaps on the shelves) and the queue for the pumps was back to the dual carriageway again with 2 or 3 members of staff marshalling cars so as not to block the entrance to the car park or the main road, so maybe 50 cars.... for at least the 11th day running (when they have had fuel). It's certainly not getting easier to buy fuel around my part of the world

I was in our Head Office in Northampton this morning and drove past 4 fuel stations. All were open with pumps available, so as I was down to 60 miles range and going to Leicester on Thursday I filled up on the way back, which is what I would have done if things were 'normal'. Which is is in the more civilised parts of the country

I do not have enough to go out and not get fuel, a pain ion the grass. On the other hand I will miss out on Hasda be bit I need to run the Bess and there is no way to know which fuel stops here have any. Especially since E10 is off the menu.
