Indeed. The GC is only £390/month. Or £515 if you include the £6k deposit.

On that basis I cant see the Macan being enough of a better car to warrant such an increase in your monthly outlay, especially given the sort of mileage you do. There must be a lot of other SUVs that could give you what you need without costing anywhere near what a Macan does whilst still coming loaded with kit. The big issue you have though is that you also want the performance and I think that's where most your options so far seem to be leaving you a bit short changed.

Well indeed.
A friend has just bought an apparently immaculate 65-plate Macan Turbo with all the toys and 35k miles on the clock for £40k, so that's the other option.

Correct leather colour, an excellent spec and close to home. Just need to change to interior trim (available through Techquipment) and ideally the wheel colour.finder.porsche.com/gb/en_GB/Macan-GTS-226063

The spec of the new one won’t be as good and the old one will sound nicer, but that’s true. The GTS seems to hold its value better than the Turbo. The two good things about approved used are it will look as good as new as they respray the front, refurbish the wheels etc and it will have a comprehensive 2 year warranty which is worth a lot.
Good man maths on the ‘only’ £15k or so rather than thinking you’d get a bit off the used one so the new one would be over 1/3rd more expensive!

I have asked Mayfair Porsche to run me a quote to see how it would compare.

I'd finance it myself and use their GFV to work out the total cost.

Especially since he signed off the call with something along the lines of "of course we want to do everything we can to get you into one of our cars".
Not minded to chase.

Try Perth Porsche - they are always very keen with prices in comparison to the Sytner owned robbers in Glasgow and Edinburgh. This might not be your colour: finder.porsche.com/gb/en_GB/Macan-GTS-225061

No.
I tolerate white on our Fiat 500 because, apart from the fact that it's not my car, it suits its simplicity and given that the dash panel is painted to match the car, it works well inside with the cream leather of the steering wheel and associated trim bits.
I wanted to get a red 500 but it wasn't my decision....

I have to say that, having been recently reunited with my car, I am not much minded to change it.
At the moment, I'm veering more towards keeping it and putting more effort into persuading la signora to change the Fiat.

Perhaps focus on the need to cover high mileage trips to europe? If it aint broke etc. Well indeed. To buy the GC will "only" cost £17.4k, or I could refinance it with a personal loan at 2.8%. That's way cheaper than any other option and it will still be entirely fit for purpose for a number of years to come. Plus given that, apart from when we go on longer trips, we tend to use more the run-around, I am therefore minded to upgrade that instead.

So decided that for now I will keep my car.
However, my wife is incensed by the thought that she cannot continue to schlepp around central London at the weekend in her car as she has always previously done (because the Congestion Charge now applies at weekends as well in one of those "temporary" COVID measures that one strongly suspects they'll "forget" to ever rescind), so now wants to get an electric car for use in London.
Problem is that, like many women, she's very tight when it comes to cars. She would love a Fiat 500e of course, but perhaps not unreasonably thinks that the price, at north of £20k, is ridiculous.
In order to stave off the suggestions that my car should make way for a Tesla 3, I'm trying to think of affordable small EVs that are bearable. Zoes are cheap but I took one look at the interior and flatlined. Likewise a smart forfour EQ - bit funkier but still not really wantable. BMW i3s are still too pricey for a decent 94-thingummies version, and I think too big.

Friend in the village swears by his Leaf. He's had several, never had any issues and they have attractive lease deals.

I would still look at the i3. Do you need 94 thigummies for driving in London traffic?

That looks like the perfect spec to me. Surely some man maths, taking into account the relatively low depreciation it will suffer, will make it fit perfectly into budget. Give Herself the choice between the i3 and the G-Wizz and see which she prefers...

Love our i3. The range is only about 65 miles (+Rex), but it hasn’t been a problem yet.
Bigger battery and fast charging would be fairly usable.

My first thought was i3
A leaf sounds ok on paper but just look at it

An i3 is the only option at that budget imo.

They’re ok the i3 but always think if they had a Hyundai badge on the front people would laugh at them.
You can get an e-golf from 15k or just get the cheapest electric smart you can. If it was me I’d get the electric Fiat, perfect London wagon

Agree with Ed, I think the 500e is probably the best choice but appreciate its pricey. Thing is if you save yourself money on something else, you'll only end up spending money replacing it when she starts moaning she doesn't like it!
