Goodyear Eagle F1 are the tyres, so a decent brand

Leasing companies are notorious for only accepting the cost of new tyres if you are down to next to no tread. I think the garage would need to say they were dangerous before the leasing company would act although contacting Goodyear is probably worthwhile. Is there not a code on the side of the tyre that tells them when it was made?

Is there not a code on the side of the tyre that tells them when it was made? This is a good point. It’d be interesting to know how much older than the car they are. As car production has been slowed up with supply chain issues it does make you wonder if the tyres have been sat around in a stockpile for a while.

The Evoque is dead....it was in a couple of weeks ago for more work which wasn't needed (corrosion on rear of brake disks, 8mm pads left...) and warranty work to climate control/stop people cloning the key.
Then storm babet flooded the dealership quite spectacularly! I'm still waiting for official confirmation but it will either be choosing something fully electric on the car scheme or something interesting privately. Decisions decisions!
I still have the loan car F-Pace so not all bad!

Is that coming under the dealers insurance or are they making you claim it on yours? I feel sorry for the poor sod who had to call round all the customers with the news of their cars. I bet some were not as good about it as you've been.

I'm not sure about the insurance, as it is under the dealers care when it happened or Zenith (which is actually self insured by RM)
I do have £400 dash cam in the car I personally paid for I'd like covering for if the dealership is paying

Gosh, that's a shame. That aerial photo looks like an insurance underwriter's nightmare as well.
Surely a no-brainer to exit the company car scheme if electric is the only option, unless you are only doing short journeys.
If it is only short-ish journeys, then would a (presumably?) low BIK electric car work well as a commuter daily hack / station car and use something interesting from your garage at weekends?

Given you have about 12 interesting cars I’d have thought a cheap BIK company car would be just the ticket.

Something like an MG4 will probably be a very good runabout and the BIK is about 50 quid a month. Given that you have an S4, and Elan and a 911 in the garage to play around with the rest of the time it could still be worth keeping the company car for now.

It depends on how many miles you do / time you spend in your company car. If it’s not much and you get a decent amount of use out of your other cars, then an EV will probably be OK. If not, then I wouldn’t want to be spending most of my driving time in one no matter what I had at home in the garage.
That’s why I opt out. Not that I have a garage full of interesting stuff!

Don't forget the Yeti and 928 too! 😁
Most of the time I work from home with trips to Derby for train to London. Occasionally longer journeys eg Leeds week after next.
My problem with EVs via the company car scheme are they are really expensive eg Kia Nero/fiat 500 is £650pcm and what I pay for the Evoque.... we'd only want something small for Mrs M. I'm going to see if they can source one of the unregistered e-ups for a reasonable price.
Coming out of the scheme will give me a useful amount of cash each month to play with
Current thoughts are I fancy a small hot hatch for local trips probably Up Gti or outside GR Yaris convenience
We like the Yeti and it's fine for longer journeys but I'd want something a bit longer legged.
So toying with swapping the 928 for a 2017 BMW M4 cab (or 440i/435d) and that would free up Audi S4 to be swapped for a classic RR
Too many choices! 😁

Where some would see a problem, you see an opportunity….good work!
£650 a month for a Niro or 500, that’s just silly.

So is it a salary sacrifice company car scheme you're in? In which case that makes a lot of difference and I think your idea sounds much better!

Yes it is salary sacrifice scheme, plus I get a car allowance too. The scheme used to be a proper company car scheme but the replacement is more of a facilitated personal lease ie x miles/year, personal insurance rather than fleet etc. and prices are crazy.
Also like the idea of a rsq3 for 5pot

Also like the idea of a rsq3 for 5pot This is the problem with the salary sacrifice schemes I’ve looked at. Seems great in principle as you’re only paying for half the lease cost as it’s pre tax, but the rates are so high it wipes out most of the benefit. It’s even worse when you have to fund personal insurance on top.

They hide behind the post tax price to keep the figures looking more palatable.
The insurance always used to be self insured fleet policy.... recent years has been to push all costs onto the quote.so from what I can work out it's loaded c£100-150 a month for insurance via Aviva....

It’s an awful lot for a small EV. I can see why RM have changed from traditional company cars for those who get one as a perk, but does it include people who need a car for their job? If so, it’s not a great move. I think we let too many people have company cars, the policy has a business mileage threshold but it’s not enforced. Enforcing it is risky if you want to attract the best talent, but as long as there’s a decent alternative (fair allowance and good salary sacrifice scheme) then it should be OK. Not that the company car list is all that attractive these days, it hasn’t moved with the rising costs of EVs

We are all one one EV only salary sacrifice scheme for perk and job needs...not sure how it's fair for an area manager doing 30k a year to pay a higher lease charge to do their job.....all for the environment....

Seeing your comments on the battery thread it must be tempting to take the allowance and use it towards commuting in your existing trio. Just have to leave 15mins earlier so you can take a less direct route to the station on some more fun roads!

I'm weighing up two from this guy, his stock looks very tidy and he sounds knowledgeable over the phone. Silver 3 door my preference at £13995, 22k, full vw sh, all the factory options in pan roof which I like, new matching tyres. Only fly in the ointment is prev owner only had it for 6 months ...2 owners in total Silver 5dr, at £13.5k, 27k, full vw sh, couple of nice options Inc roof, but no auto lights/wipers, 1 owner, front/rear tyres don't match, and MOT history suggests brakes need work plus rear tyres. I may go and test drive, see if I can get the 3dr down to the 5dr price... www.markrobinsvehicles.co.uk/

Great spec on the 3 door, it's worth a £few extra and better looking than t the 5 door. If it's as good as it looks, I wouldn't worry about the 6 months ownership.

Also nice. There is a tidy dark green one similar to that one which lives near us. It wears the elegant licence plate "BON3D" with the plates cut to be shaped like bones...
