I was pushing my mental budget for the Evoque as is, and have yet to get a price for the AB version (which also comes with suede headlining etc) but in theory should be cheaper than my car with its millions of options. That price is coming end of Sept and should also be 40miles EAER
Only downside to cancelling is work may not authorise a reorder until reorg is over

A suede headliner is a wonderful thing! I’ve always liked them but didn’t think it was really worth the circa £1,000 optional cost, but I’ve changed my mind, it is.

The others are xc40 or x1 phevs but none as nice as the Evoque.
AB is loaded with active dynamics, premium interior bits and is the same price as mine plus my21 gets pivi pro and better steering wheel etc. Should also be 40miles but as standard model maybe easier to confirm.
But I could see it being 6months plus till reorg is sorted

Yes I had a suede headlining in my M5 (which had the full monty leather interior) and it was really very nice. Unnecessarily nice to be perfectly honest but lovely to have.

There are two parked near our house and of the two, it's the Ovlov that catches my wife's eye. Can't say I blame here. Very neat and tidy design.

Looks wise I prefer the xc40 too! But it lags behind on the kit count, doesn't feel as nice to sit in or drive (haven't tried a phev in either yet!) Plus I don't like the tablet heating controls

Since my ideal spec would have a large chunk of the roof made from glass, I can't see me ever spending £1,000 for the cloth trim around the edge. I can imagine how it would enhance a soliroof, though.

I can imagine how it would enhance a soliroof, though. I’d have said the same before living with it. Most of the roof in my car is glass (more than any other I’ve had), but you there’s still quite a bit which you benefit from such as the A pillars and sun visors, particularly at this time of year when you’re touching/using them a lot.

..... Plus I don't like the tablet heating controls This is one thing that really gets me about so many motoring reviews. Just how often do you adjust the heating controls if the car has climate control? Since I had my old Galaxy (from 2003) I've been fortunate enough that most of the cars I have had have climate control and once the initial temperature setting has been performed I've not needed to make any adjustments. So long as there is a "maximum defrost" button (real or virtual) that's all you should reasonably need

I will change the climate control quite frequently on a journey, between 16C and 22C.
The car may maintain a constant temperature, but that doesn't mean I may wish to be warmer or cooler en route!!

I think the range issue you have is due to all the options you've added playing havoc with the WLTP test results. The AB version requires you to tick less option boxes so is easier for them to give you an official range. It's such a ridiculous for a tax system to cause 1 mile of range to make such a difference when in the real world the actual range doesn't really change.

The issue is they say they have to build it before it can be given a definite figure.....sure BMW don't have this problem!

I find that different cars mean different climate control practices. The Mini is just set to 19 degrees and stays there pretty much all the time. Maybe 20 someties. At 19, the Jag freezes my balls off, so that sist at 20.5 but tends to fluctuate around that. The Shogun, despite the usual temperature settings, only seems to have four real settings - full blast (15), coldish (15.5-16), Medium (16.5-18) and steaming hot (greater than 18), so constant changing is required.

So a car with difficult to access controls would be a good thing in your case! I have both cars set at 20.5c and very rarely change it.

Bryan,
Do you know if your current order will go through with the reconstruction taking place - will it be cancelled automatically or are they honouring existing orders?

The order is being honoured as an existing one.....no guarantees if I swap to Autobiography that they won't take the opportunity to cancel it.
Just managed to negotiate the removal of the £1500 cancellation fee which takes the pressure off somewhat!

'Interesting' point on the configurator, on an AB with my preferred choice of 18"wheels style 5075 the electric range has dropped to 39miles (£3600 extra tax) yet if I spec the style 5074 18s it shows as 40miles.
I knew specing smaller wheels impacted on co2 and range but didn't think the style of wheel would make a difference!!
Or is the configurator dodgy!! Answers on a postcard.

Could be tyres (manufacturer and model of tyre can have an impact).
In order to calculate the WLTP value, every single option is validated in combination with every derivative and other options it can be fitted with. The values are sometimes to multiple decimals and they get added up exactly. If a different style of wheel is heavier or fitted with a different brand of tyre, it’s enough to make a difference.
WLTP is a massively pointless pain in the arse (in the grand scheme of things)

Bit of an update on the car situation
I have kept my job - good news!👍
Evoque is still on order and probably at the dealer but yet to be contacted re deliver or cancelling it.
JLR have massively cocked up wltp and all Evoques/D Sports have increased to the lowest possible by 10g co2 34miles eleccy. They may recertify in the future I suspect.
That increases my costs by £75pcm, I am trying to find out different prices eg Autobiography to see if I can close the gap.
I did managed to secure a phev test-drive from Fri to Mon this weekend 👍 but the gearbox three a fault code on its way to me🙄😂🤔. Couldn't make it up 🤣

Great news Bryan.
I presume you will have no problem cancelling the car on the grounds that it is not what you ordered in terms of emissions and Benefit in Kind.
