Thankfully its only a concept so I assume they'll stick the new 3 series grille on it and, after this, we'll suddenly see it as being ok (although it isn't really, just compared to this one it is!).

You could be right; stick a huge grille on this and when the real (huge, but less huge) grille is revealed we sigh with relief. Remember when we used to take the piss out of Lexus with their spindle grille? Looks positively sober now. |

What are they smoking or drinking in the BMW design studio? The current 4 series concept was remarkably like the eventual road car so I really, truly hope that they don't continue with the madness of that grill. I am a long term BMW coupe fan but that would just close the door on any possibility of replacing the M5 with one. The rest of the design is pretty good and a bit better proportioned than the 8 series.
Surely there must be someone in authority at BMW who looks at that car and thinks WTF!

Side on that's nice. The back is too fussy in the lower half, but the upper half is good. And the front? Less said about that the better.

......The back is too fussy in the lower half, but the upper half is good. ..... I've been saying that about them for a while now, it's particularly noticeable on things like a silver X4 that from the number plate level down there are so many different creases and panel joins that its a mess. |

I was out for dinner with Mrs Tim and her brother last night and, since he's a BMW fan, I asked if he'd seen it.
When he Googled it and showed his sister it almost put both of them off their meal!

I hope they keep the rear shoulder line as seen from the front 3/4 on the concept.
Looks like the grille will be, as expected, similar to the 3 series.

Looks like it has a more triangular top to the bar between the kidneys, just like the concept... |

It's conceivable these could be within the grille but I don't think they are. I'm pretty sure the grey car is a fake and I'd be highly surprised if they followed through with that grille. |
