Mine renewed in october but they still have not agreed the agreed value. If they've renewed it does that not mean they've agreed the value they have on file by default? In the same way you've agreed to their T&C's be default?

Those nice people at Admiral have emailed to say that due to the lockdown and the significant reduction in road traffic they're issuing everyone a refund of £25 per car insured. That's a nice £125 heading my way then, I might go out for a drive just to spend some of it! Likewise, although only £50 for us. I see I've now been paid this.

Just renewed mine. I upped the coverage and it’s jumped quite a bit (about $600 a year to $2k for 2 cars and 2 drivers), despite me now having fully comp and about 7 years driving here. I did wonder, this is the first car I have that has a loan against it. Does the price of the policy get affected by the ownership of the car? If my name is on the title deed, is the policy lower?

Classicline have always been good but you still need to fill in a form and pictures to send off, they have never come back a second time, but they do need to separately agree it

Confuseddotcom - LV insurance: £423 Comparethemeerkat - LV insurance: £577! What. The. Fuck?! You could write a Doctoral Thesis on the algorithms insurance companies use to calculate risk and how they manage it. There’s no point in us mere mortals trying to understand it.

Adrian Flux's agreed value system is a joke. They tried to revise my agreed value down which I didn't agree to. They then tried to refuse a refund to the agreed value fee. I got the fee refunded.
Footman James are much more agreeable to deal with.

Sound like that is against your right to justice, if the law say's it is void/expired, that should be that. IMHO, of course. What do you think Racing?

So regardless of the various miniscule refunds being handed out, let's look at the car insurance market after lockdown. Almost no one has been driving; claims for accidents will be greatly reduced and even total loss thefts are probably down as we're all home more often to see our cars being key-cloned or preventing people breaking in to steal the keys stored in a metal box (as we were!) All this means that those algorithms Bob mentioned above is completely fucked for 2020 and the model for the next year will look back at 2020 and will re assess them based on the lower level of claims and payouts, therefore all our insurance renewals will be far lower.
That is the logical and honest thing to do so surely it will happen........

I'm sure the response from the insurance industry will be that any (small) reduction in motor vehicle claims will be more than offset by the losses incurred in other markets they are involved in. Hence the 20% rise in premiums.

I expect carnage on the roads as people return to driving for the first time in 2 months, they were bad enough at it before and many will be even more obsessed with their smartphones than they were previously.

^ The roads were notably busy yesterday when I went for my exercise bike ride, and busier still today when I had to go into work for the morning. The standard of driving at the moment is dire, many middle lane hoggers on the M3, including onein lane 3 of 4 on a practically dererted stretch on the way home.
Also the variable speed limits are out to generate revenue, 40mph limit in force from the M25 joining the M3 then staying in place for several miles despite light traffic levels (around 1:30pm).... I wonder if it picked up vehicles travelling close together in the inside lane (plenty of trucks and vans about) and decided that the motorway was very busy as a result, without taking into account that there was little in the other 3 lanes? Whatever, very annoying and of course the usual idiots who totally ignore the posted limits and blast past at warp speed

I had the insurance renewal notice from Peter Best Insurance for the Standard. Trying to call them, I was was put on hold and cheerfully informed that I was number seven in the queue. Having repeatedly been told how important my call was to them, 10 minutes later I was disappointed to hear that I was still seventh in the queue. Bollocks to this I thought, as I hung up and called Hagerty Insurance. They answered straight away and provided a quote £10 cheaper than Peter Best. Guess who got the business?

I've noticed a lot of places now, when you ring them they offer to ring you back so you don't have to hang on. It's automatic and you don't lose your place in the queue. It works well.

Last time I used the M3 there was a 60 in place for no reason that I could see. The M4 which is my other way to the SE has a 50 from J12 because they're doing the same thing to it. Massive pain in the arse... The reason they lower the limit when there is seemingly no traffic jams is due to pollution levels. They have local air quality monitoring stations and when these detect pollution to be too high they reduce the speed limit to help bring it down.

The signs said possibility of debris, but the 60 went on for miles until I eventually turned off. Surely they possibly had some idea of where this possible debris possibly was and didn't need to make everyone drive slower for 30 miles?! Nope, the patrolling of motorways by actual cars (police or HATO) or by CCTV is dire. That's one reason why smart motorways are now being pasted - because the detection of broken down vehicles etc that was promised to be "immediate" is taking 10, 20 minutes or more. Sometimes the CCTV cameras are not working which means that there are many miles of smart motorways where "the authorities" actually have no idea if there's anything going on or not

Could you take out a two week short term TPF&T policy and then renew after then?

Confused.com do a search of short term policies, would be worth a look to see what the difference is vs what you'd save by not having to declare the incident

Can't you squeeze into the garage for a week?
FWIW the insurance on the Fiesta is up for renewal at the end of this month. My removing my wife from the policy (she's never driven it in 4 years) I can actually save about £30 on the premium compared to last year. Keeping her on will add over £200 !

In the same way you've agreed to their T&C's be default? They have called me three times in the last two days to have a go at me, they state they are only going to accept a valuation of £y rather than £x so I have to get over it. I told them they had accepted the valuation by default and they slammed the phone down on me. I wonder if their next letter will be cancelling the insurance. Arseholes.

Talking of insurance, but of the home variety rather than car, in April after shopping around, I took out a new buildings & contents insurance with M&S. It was the best value.
Evidently there was some additional sweetener I hadn't noticed, because today I unexpectedly received £50 of M&S vouchers in the post. They were much appreciated - we needed to do a shop, so I've just been down to M&S on the Kings Road and paid for most of our weekly shop with the vouchers. Delighted. I don't normally shop in M&S but absolutely will if someone else is paying!
