Sounds a lot for a 500, but at least you have options.

This sounds weird, and not helpful as insurers often ask if you have had cover declined.... I had one insurer do it when I changed car, but hear more and more now of people not being offered cover at all...

I had one insurer do it when I changed car, but hear more and more now of people not being offered cover at all... The letter stated that she didn't have to declare to another insurer that she'd been declined cover so that won't have an effect.

The renewal email came through from Tesco insurance for the Benz. Last year's premium was £300.10.
This year they want £256.34.
From all the tales of woe I have heard I was expecting a significant increase. Not even going to shop around.

The Series was £125 + £45 for breakdown with Flux. I dislike Flux, but I can't argue with that price.
I want to move the L322 from AXA in August as despite me putting the market value at £15k, they have it at £9k. Bastards.

Although it is going back to the leasing company in the next couple of weeks, the renewal came in for the Jaguar i-Pace. Are you sitting down? Just over £2,600 with full no claims and mileage restricted to 8,000pa with 2 named drivers only!!!! That really is taking the proverbial.
I am still waiting on a quote for the i4 and not holding my breath.

That level of insurance is surely going to make these cars almost unsaleable in the used car market. It seems to apply to all cars too. I did a quote for mine with BMW and it was just under £1,500. I am currently paying about £1,000 but a year before that it was just over £500 and a year prior to that it was less than £450. Nothing has changed apart from the price of spare parts, an increase in somebody's profit and a big dent in my wallet. I do think that manufacturers need to be brought under control though for the price of their spare parts: a client with an BMW 850i needed a new headlight recently after some road debris put a hole in it and the part alone cost over £2,000 from BMW.

Yep, headlights in the £1-2k bracket for a sealed unit are common now. It seems impossible to justify, I suspect we are paying for OEM's inability to manage their supply chain. Spare parts - for anything in life - seem really hard to even find let alone the cost.
Parts, servicing, and insurance seem to have pretty much doubled like for like in recent years. And its the hassle factor of parts supply that's a massive issue, I hurried to get my fuel pump replaced (risking the warranty company not paying) as someone on the QF FB group has been waiting 7 months for one from Alfa Southampton. 7 months of depreciation, insurance, tax, and not enjoying the car. For a fuel pump. OEM's don't seem to give a shit.
It's making owning nice cars more and more of a luxury. That should worry the OEM's. How many people expect (in middle age in a safe place) to pay £2600 to insure a car like an iPace FFS? Not long ago that was Ferrari insurance pricing. That's a foreign family holiday for us. I can see more and more people saying "F*** that" and running something a lot cheaper - and, with the benefits of ICE over EV to most people - older.

Range Rover renewal with AXA came in at £60 more than last year at £680. I managed to get it down to £580 with LV.
I was expecting nearly £1k with the current scare stories.

Classicline came back with a joint renewal price of £770 for the Up and Elan. With a line of everything has got more expensive...
The meerkat can do the Up for around £300 (£314 Aviva being a name I know) with 1 year NCB, so it looks like I'll be moving that as Classicline were nearly £600!
The lotus has gone from £160 to £190 plus £20 for home start.im debating switching that but think I could get back to £150ish agreed value shopping around

I've a had a multicar policy only once. In my experience, they hike the price massively and then you have two or more insurances to find. I prefer to have mine staggered to keep it somewhat affordable.

The Benz had to go to the National Windscreens place in Banbury, but that has just about every type of sensor and camera available.
I had read some tales of woe, which told of gadgets not functioning correctly after a new screen, but everything works perfectly.

Bloody hell, the renewal for the Qashqai came in only £4 a year more expensive!

Well Aviva came up £45 less than last year on renewal. As I get loads of other insurances with them I won’t bother looking around.

I've just had to double-check the insurance on the Kuga as I have to use it for business. Discovered that last year for some reason, Class 1 business use had been removed. I phoned this morning (LV) to see how much it would be to have it re-instated for the rest of the policy (5 September to 3 December and I proverbially bit off the arm of their staff member.....56 pence ! No admin charge either. That will be the smallest ever transacton on my credit card; new certificate was emailed to me about 10 minutes later.

I had the renewal through for the Kuga last week, about £3 more than last year on like-for-like basis, or about 1% increase. I have had to increase the annual mileage as it should get much more use over the next 12 months, and that added about £50. ouch
