Finished Chernobyl last night. Scary stuff. Didn't enjoy the episode where they were having to shoot all the abandoned pets much but it just added to the horror of the whole thing. That's the bit that got to me as well - particularly the puppies and their mother.

Apparently the Jared Harris' character, Valery Legasov, was a real person, but Emily Watson's character was an invention to be his conscience.

Chernobyl was brilliant but you’re right it scary knowing it was a true story. Couldn’t help expecting Paul Ritter to say “shit on it!” though

63Up
The original 7Up was made the year my sister was born and I was 2 when 14Up was made so clearly I can’t claim to have followed this from the start but I have seen all of 7Up and not missed it since 21Up thanks to a socially zealous sister.
Lots of tears in the eyes this time around, not least with the realisation that no programme series will ever be made like this ever again.

I have only seen the introduction and first instalment of 63UP, so will have to catch up with the rest over the weekend.

Roadkill has made it into Discovery on Monday nights. Starting at a random point in time, and won’t be everyone’s cup of tea, but some of you will enjoy it.

Is that the Jethro Bovington one? Caught a few minutes of that the other night and stuck the sky box on it. Looked alright to be fair. Bit American statisticy (is that even a word?), but no worse for it.

I see the new new new new Top Gear is on this weekend... I enjoyed it - much better than I expected - Paddy McGuiness brought genuine humour and genuinely funny remarks - rather than the contrived stuff that Clarkson and Co had had to resort to - first time I've laughed at Top Gear for over 10 years.

I remain to be convinced, as someone once said.
Not a fan of McGuinness the comic (HUGE fan of McGuinness the bike racer mind!) which dampened my enthusiasm somewhat, and Freddie just annoyed me most of the time.
I don't sound very positive here, do I? Ho hum .. .. ..

Thought it were right good and all the better for not having a guest in the studio bit. Sounds like they're remedying that next week unfortunately.

It was good, but I couldn’t help feel that Harris now seems the odd one out. They clearly enjoyed taking the piss out of him and he seemed to take it in pretty good spirit.

Went to see to Manic Street Preachers and Bon Jovi at Anfield last night. Only didn't get to see the Manics because they started around 6pm and we were still on our way. Considering that Anfield organise the arrival of 54000 people every other week during the football season, the traffic etc last night was crap. We got to Stanley Park around 6.45 and the two main car parks where only half full and still wouldn't admit anyone without a permit. Ended up with a 15 minute walk to the stadium but managed to flag a cab (whose driver had no idea who Bon Jovi were..). As to the main act it was
disappointing. Don't get me wrong, I don't have the best hearing and I've got a bit of head cold making it worse at the moment, but the drums (bass in particular) was way too loud and Jon's microphone was way too low, so much so that when he was just talking to the crowd you could barely understand him. Which was a pity as it was a 2 hour set with some decent tracks.
Still annoyed at myself for missing the Manics.

Whenever we go to concerts now we always take ear protection of some sort - usually some bogroll to be rolled up and pushed gently into the ear. It seems that over the last 10-15 years most venues have just turned the volume up to about 15 so you can't really appreciate the music without something to muffle it! Mrs Tim saw B-J in their prime and reckoned they were fantastic back then I'm sure they were supported by Magnum then!
