Either I was right, or someone has snapped it up, as it's been taken off sale just over an hour after is was listed on the website!

I saw it. Looked very nice and yes: a bit of a price bargain when 991s are still up in the £90k region

Ha Ha. I have been looking at those too (and the 850i which basically has your old 7 series engine). They do appear to be very good value but like the last 6 series are likely to keep depreciating at a slightly uncomfortable rate!

I know beauty is in the eye of the beholder and all, but I really can’t get onboard with the styling of the 8 series - the rear ¾ view is just horrendous. I also don’t like the interior styling which is nowhere near as pleasing or expensive looking as the 7 series (which it should be as a minimum).
If I was buying a “ nearly new “ BMW, I think it would have to be the 7 series and I would just park it nose first everywhere. I wonder if some enterprising soul has created a conversion kit to put the facelift car back to a pre-facelift condition.

To be honest the 4dr just looks like a really ugly Kia Stinger. In fact I’d take the Kia everytime as the 8 just comes across as I’ve got a few quid but no imagination.

I looked into the 4 door 8 series before ordering Eva but I too couldn’t live with exterior looks (not that a five series estate is the zenith of design couture but it’s not pretending to be). It’s a very nice steer according to Thomas ze Cherman but yes: will be worth £10k soon.

Although the 8 series had the advantage of a smaller grille, unlike its 7 series sibling, the rest of it just looks ill-proportioned and the interior looks a very plain and boring place to sit. Perhaps I have rose tinted spectacles, but weren't coupes always supposed to be beautiful and svelte? That was the trade off for less space.

Having swapped my search to 3's recently, that holds much appeal but, as you say, can't afford it.

It's appealing from the outside - the grille isn't as objectionable as it used to be - but the interior is the weak point on these, and not just the hideous instruments

I just want it for the stealth, torque and acceleration.

That’s a pretty reasonable price. A Mini and a Z1………

Yep. I’d definitely have another one of these if I had the space.

Considering some of the munters being put on sale it's a sight for sore eyes.

These are fetching a lot of money now, but probably worth it, especially when compared to the prices of some Fords from that era.

I loved those, was my favourite Honda at the time I had a weekend job in the sales department at my local dealership. Closely followed by the Prelude with the pop up headlights. I was 17 and had a brand new Pearl Blue VTEC for the weekend, because I was working at an event at the local Golf Club. 150hp iirc and felt like an absolute rocket ship which revved forever (8k?) compared to my 1.3 Astra. Buy it!
