What was the budget for doing that amazing restoration - £1m?

What was the budget for doing that amazing restoration - £1m? It isn't going to be cheap is it. Whats a mint 330 worth, £500K? Lucky its a labour of love as a full restoration never seems to make financial sense.

Quite a bit of ‘want’ for this….unfortunately it wouldn’t fit in the garage, I’m not sure I’d get enough use out of it as there’s no way I could use it for work and and I don’t think I’d like the extended warranty and servicing costs much. But what a great car and some of the details are lovely, even the small ones like the embossed Bang and Olufsen in the door panels. www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202210110629442?atmobcid=soc3

Quite different the the Bentley and I’m sure the thought won’t last too long or get too serious…but the thread title is clear that the want is for today, so it doesn’t matter if it will drop off my list tomorrow! Thanks for several of my warehouses now having charge points, our Head Office getting about 20 installed at the moment and my local site due to have some fitted early in the new year, the thought of significantly reduced running costs (could be £300 a month) has got me looking at electric as part of a 2-3 car garage. The 4S (performance plus) is plenty in terms of performance, but when look at the £depreciation, especially on a high spec 4S, then it doesn’t really work out all that more to get the Turbo S (only requires ‘man maths lite’) finder.porsche.com/gb/en-GB/details/porsche-taycan-turbo-s-preowned-DVZERL

I have a client who has a new Bentley Continental in a gorgeous blue metallic with cream leather. It looks stunning. He loves it but he doesn't really do many miles in a year now (this is his second Bentley which he treated himself to when he sold his company).
He gets about 14mpg overall but as he says, "you can't take it with you" so he is enjoying it while he can. I have no idea about servicing costs but it wouldn't surprise me if even the minor service was 4 figures.
Two of my clients bought Taycan's and they have both sold them (although another client is still waiting for one he ordered about 8 months ago). They found the range just wasn't good enough with a real world range of between 160 and 180 miles on colder days. However I did speak to a guy in the supermarket car park who had the Cross Turismo and he said that the latest cars have improved battery and software technology which give him a comfortable 200 miles plus.. I suppose it depends on the distance between your branches and how likely the chargers are to be busy. I still think the 4S is the sweet spot in the range and I don't think the additional performance would really be noticed if you got the Turbo - they both feel super quick on the road.
The 550i is a great way to have a V8, performance, better economy and a discrete look - it's the one I would have if I had to put my hand in my own pocket. I think EV prices are grossly inflated due to the tax incentives for companies and the tax savings for use as company cars.

The latest Taycan software update has improved battery management and disconnects the front motors to improve efficiency, so 200+ miles is now easily achievable. My closest site (of 5) used to be a 180 mile round trip and the one I went to most was closer to 300 miles but that’s changed. I’ve got over 30 now, but the ones I visit most are no more than a 150 mile round trip, head office is 35miles and my local site is 15 miles. All of those have chargers and I get there early enough to easily get a charger without having to ‘pull rank’ (which isn’t my style at all)
I’m sure the 4S would be plenty, but if you’re buying used then it’s much harder to get a really good spec and when you do, the expected monthly depreciation figures aren’t that far apart.
Sounds like I’m talking myself into it, but I’m not really and if I did go electric by far the most sensible thing to do would be opt back into the company car scheme, but I really don’t want to do that for a number of reasons.

We had one of those as our taxi last time I was in Singapore, to get from the airport to the hotel.
That price is somewhat optimistic IMHO

Stumbled across this whilst idly browsing local garages for potential replacement for the girlfriends Audi. I'm still not sure if this is something I'm wanting or not as there are plenty of things I don't really like about it but there remains innate appeal in something of a reasonable age with such low mileage in what appears to be 'as-new' condition sporting a big old V8. chalfontmotor.co.uk/currentstock/porsche-panamera-4-8-v8-4s-pdk-4wd-5dr-auto-only-11000-miles-very-high-spec-petrol-2011-11-reg/I've not even looked to see if the price is OTT or not but a barely run in V8 Porsche for the price of a Nissan Leaf Tekna (first car that popped up with same price in a random google search) seems fun!

That does look like nearly new inside and out. Probably owned by some retired gentleman who kept it in a garage and drove it down to the village once a week.
The price does look pretty steep for a near 12 year old car and it wouldn't really meet your previously stated requirement of releasing some money from the sale of your girlfriend's car.
However the thought is tempting: I remember when we bought a 4 yr old BMW 328i for my wife to replace her MX5 after she fell pregnant. The car had less than 5,000 miles, was immaculate and had almost every extra - we loved it and the feeling of having something much better and more grand than the purchase price would ever suggest.

It’s a nice idea, but badly executed….the colour scheme, both inside and out is awful.

I’ve zero intention of anything like this but couldn’t help but click when I saw the mileage. The Audi will still be sold to release funds rather than fund an unnecessary ’toy’

That is in beautiful condition but £2500-£3000 goes a long way when X-Type shopping so it would be difficult to justify a £5000 premium.
