That Mk 2 looks superb. My dad's 340 had the red interior. I see that Jag have now made "Mars red" and "Wine" an available interior colour on some models. Both look a darker red than previous offerings.

Haha...my mother had two rather less sexy Montego estates - both facelifted cars like that one. She had an F-reg 2.0 SLX automatic in BRG and than a J-reg 2.0D Countryman in what I think was called Steel Grey.
But I remember that one of our neighbours used to have a bright red MG Montego saloon just like that one which seemed very glamorous for a small Suffolk village.

A lot of which appears to be in the boot waiting to be reaffixed. Shame it hasn't got the talking digital dash.

That takes me back! My mum had a G reg BRG MG Montego which she loved. I was amazed when she let me take it to the French alps for 2 weeks when I was 18.

FYP Donning Martin's anorak for a moment I'm fairly sure the digital dash was only ever available on the early carb-fed 1.6 litre MG versions and the Vanden Plas Maestros. I'm not certain it made it into the Montego.

The digital dash was available in the pre-faclift Maestro and Montego.
I remember my dad sneaking me into the Cowley factory one weekend while the first pre-launch Maestro's were being built. I had a good look around them in the compound and fiddled with the voice synthesiser computer thingy. Having the car speak to you, saying "fasten your seatbelt" was all very space-age back then.

Anorak's in the post though

Actually, having once driven a Mk2 Golf Syncro, I suspect these drive nowhere near as nicely as a well-sorted standard GTI 16v, but I still would: ukdauto.com/vw-golf-mk2-g60-synchro

Never knew there was a supercharged one. That is a mistake in the ad. It has a liquid-cooled charge cooler.

I know that one is supposed to appreciate Bristols, and I suppose I do appreciate all that craftsman's art and whathaveyou. But I've never actually wanted one - I'd rather have a Gordon Keeble if we're talking that sort of car.

Another one who doesn't get Bristols but the one linked does have some appeal but imagine it'll be daft money. Love a Gordon Keeble and met a guy about 20 years ago ago who had 3 which given how few were made was quite something. If we're fishing in this pond make mine a Facel Vega II Edited : here's one www.carandclassic.co.uk/car/C725333
