That's exactly like Johns car, apart from the colour of the leather, interior trim, the missing equipment packs and the addition of a sunroof.

It was the 1st car on page 1 of my autotrader M5 search.

I'll still have mine for a while yet I think. The last year has meant I haven't had a great deal of opportunity to go on any great drives either so it is still unfinished business for me.
I have driven a Competition and the suspension is a good bit firmer than mine in comfort mode and the extra grunt isn't easy to feel except in the last 1000rpm when it does seem to give a bit more push. Given the already prodigious power and torque, the opportunities to let it rip to the red line are fairly rare and I don't think I would ever feel short changed being 20hp down. Unless I could access really well surfaced roads I think mine is a better bet for the UK.

Pascha trim on the red 928 is a very popular interior mod with more modern porsches. I was half thinking of putting it in my 997. Then I came to my senses

Agreed I first saw it as a small boy, probably in the first year of 928 production, and have loved it ever since. I can even remember that the car was pale metallic blue.

Wow! Almost identical to mine - C-reg pre-facelift and that one is auto whereas mine was a manual. Same colour interior and exterior - my spare wheel was immaculate though ! Yes it got used a couple of times but I always cleaned it before replacing it under the boot floor. But ..... £3500 ! That's well over half the new price from 1985 !

God I'd forgotten (thankfully!) about them. Ugly little blighters weren't they?

There was a pale metallic blue and a metallic gold - the colour I really wanted but it was discontinued in 1984. Around where I lived (Guildford) a vast majority were blue with just a few silver (misty beige) ones - so few that generally we drivers would wave at each other if we passed an identical car.
Mine was C925OPL and on the day I collected it, C922OPL was also at the garage awaiting collection by its new owner - also silver

I remember my mother wanting to replace her Peugeot 305 GTX estate with a Honda Shuttle, largely because she had a friend with a (yes silver) one. In the end she got a Montego though, as somehow Dad managed to get his hands on a nearly new one that had been part of the Wimbledon Tournament fleet for that year (must have been 1989 as it was F-reg).

Schumacher stuck his name to the Seicento as well if I'm not mistaken so a Stilo ain't so bad. Yes they held a fair amount of appeal when new but if you want a quirky Italian hatch I think I'd rather a 145 Cloverleaf

He did lend his name to the Seicento which from memory was a standard Sei Sporting, at least the Stilo was made more sporty for 'his' version.
The 145 Cloverleaf is an entertaining car but I'd still be drawn by the Stilo - it's newer but also has a lovely 5 pot.

I don’t suppose it’s had much use in the last 7 years. Ooft. Harsh. It's a nice car though, I think it'll fit nicely in the Tim stable.

This. It's the cheapest E90 330d Touring on Autotrader and it appears to have a DPF issue. A new DPF is less than £250 and if it's anything like my E46, it'll be easy to change. Not sure about the paedo shoe grey half leather and the wood on the interior, but it's low mileage, automatic and has a towbar, which is all I need.
If it is the DPF that has failed, I'll throw a cheeky offer in and see if I can arrange collection using the work's van/trailer.

^ That looks like unbelievable VFM assuming, as you suggest, that it is just a DPF issue

Not sure I've seen a part-paedo leather interior before. Possibly not as nasty as the full Saville but still rather you than me. Apart from that, I agree it looks Blarno-able. Presumably goes without saying to check the auto 'box carefully if it's been towing stuff...

The auto boxes are easy to service as well, service kits are about £150. I think, given the low mileage and suspect DPF, that this car hasn't done many big journeys or has been used a lot for local stuff.

I think the interior is quite easy to replace with a less offensive one.

Wrapping the wood trim pieces is easy. A full interior transplant might not be worth it.

I was thinking of the seats and doorcards - it already has black carpets and dash and at least the wood is fairly dark.

Dealer is going to do me a walkaround video tomorrow. He has confirmed the car has shown a DPF fault on the scanner - worst case scenario is a new DPF, best case is initiating a regen procedure by either driving its bollocks off or plugging in a diagnostics machine. I've double checked the MOT history and it has only had one fail in its life, mileage is pretty much constant each year (about 8-9k)
If all is good with the video, I will send a deposit and then find a way of collecting it without breaching any Covid travel rules.
