You’re not breaching any travel rule by going to buy a car.

Extremely cheap, but surely bound to be bid higher before the hammer falls. They were (are) excellent cars and have a strong following in classic circles. I now need to go away and pretend I haven't seen them...

Would "Covid rules" stop anyone picking up a car? If I bought it I'd just go and pick it up without another thought.

We test drove the 430 in mid January (i.e. the midst of the lockdown) and picked it up a week or so later. No handshakes were made, close contact was avoided and the car was, we were told, thoroughly sanitised before and after.

Would "Covid rules" stop anyone picking up a car? If I bought it I'd just go and pick it up without another thought. To be honest, I've been so stuck in the routine of just going to work, coming home and going to the shops that I never even thought about going anywhere else. I just assumed collecting a car wasn't essential travel.

I missed the boat, the car has now gone. Ah well, keep searching.

www.ebay.co.uk/itm/154369050369Jesus, that's pretty much the same price as the 330s I'm looking at and lower mileage too. I suspect it will ruin me though.

I am seriously tempted. The miles are low for its age, it's in a nice part of the country and doesn't look to have been messed with. A work colleague is an ex BMW tech and he says as long as they have been serviced regularly and not modified badly, they are great cars.

I'd take the 5. Remember though they have wiring loom issues at the tailgate which cause a warning light on the dashboard and an MOT fail!
Otherwise I'd go for it.

The 535d is off the table after a good conversation with a mate who has owned several. He pointed out the horrific costs when things go wrong, it seems to be that the single turbo 30d engines are a lot more bulletproof, so that's the route I'm going. www.autotrader.co.uk/car-details/202103170271672That's where this comes in. Great spec, as full a full history as can be got, best part of a year's MOT and a towbar. It's a fair way away, but I can work something out using friends or my Brother to view/test drive.

So far I have checked the price of a train ticket - £120 single. And, I still have to cycle either side of that and put fuel in to drive back. Cheapest collection rate is £258.
I still need it test driving regardless. 4 hours on the train, test drive and 3 hours back, I could do that of a Saturday.

I had an LCI one of those on a 58-plate, very briefly, albeit as a manual. Did a ski trip to the Alps and back in it, and it was a very good mile-muncher. A registration check tells me the people who bought it from me still have it and it's got knocking on for 120k miles on the clock.

My mate has a 330d touring. It's a great car - manages to be sporty and refined, small enough for our roads, big enough for a family. He's done 150k miles without missing a beat. I was in it last week and thinking what a great machine it is.

Everybody who I have spoken to about them raves about them. I'm literally minutes away from picking up the phone to the owner with a big list of questions. It even manages to be cheaper on tax than my E46, which is a bonus. Assuming it doesn't sell and I'm happy with the drive, that's the one I'm getting.

Just had a lovely conversation with the owner. It's wanted for nothing. Full main dealer history, recently had a new steering rack and AC compressor (From the main dealer!), never had a DPF issus as it's spent most of its time on the motorway. I didn't have a lot of time on the phone as I'm at work, so I will call him back later and leave a deposit to hold the car for me, then sort a train down next week to have a proper look around.

£120 for a train ticket sounds ludicrous (not in a Tesla way either). Have you looked at "split my ticket" or similar? What's your nearest station to home, presumably ending up at Tiverton?

I don't know exactly where you are Blarno, but think it's Cheshire. Trainline.com has tickets next Saturday from Northwich to Tiverton Parkway for £70.90.
... or £360 if you want to go First Class.
