Reasonable coverage round my manor. Enough to make me wish I still had my Mk2 Escort, at least.

About 2 inches when I got home from work yesterday evening (none at work), and I couldn't clear it as it was frozen underneath, like black ice everywhere. At least one of the neighbours was applying grit from the grit box at the top of "our" hill to the sideroad otherwise it would have been impassable by 7pm last night whereas it's clear this morning.
Some more has fallen overnight, maybe another half inch and it's lethal as it's on top of the ice from last night, and no sign of any gritting on the main roads. Took me about 20 minutes to do the 2 miles to the M3, then everything was OK, and none in Basingstoke when I got off the motorway.
It's lethal around home though, the road looks clear from the passing traffic but it's ice with cars slipping gently all over the place, fortunately everyone was taking it easy but the roads were solid with traffic whereas there is usually not much about. Not much point in having all that grit/salt stached away to help keep the traffic moving if Surrey CC don't get out and actually apply it to the roads :-(
Even AWD doesn't help much when you're on solid ice

Only a tiny dusting of snow here. But it is bloody cold. -8 outside at the moment. Made feeding the livestock this morning quite a task, as you can't wear gloves for every job and once you lose the feeling in your hands it hurts like hell. As if you've shut your fingers in a car door.....

It's quite deep up here now, stoves are all going so at least it's warm inside. I think our continental friends are taking the piss a bit:

+1. Looks great (in a picture or through a window!) I’ve definitely chosen the right time to have a couple of weeks away.

Light dusting and no fresh fall for quite a while, -4 and the birds water was proper solid this am. Moved from porridge to peanut butter and flour/oats which the birds are adapting to fairly well. The competition for food is pretty intense right now with several Robin pairs dukeing it out for position. No wonder they have an average lifespan of two years. Nature is brutal.

Snowed overnight in London - there was 3-4cms of very powdery snow lying this morning and it was a distinctly fresh -3 degrees. Been snowing busily this morning in the City too - view from my desk a few minutes ago:

Two flakes settled on the car yesterday and it was around 30 minutes before they melted away, so for us, pretty extreme conditions!

The BBC's weather app has been amended to show probability of rain by percentage, just like in the olden days.

I ventured out in between blizzards. I have never seen anything like it in my lifetime. This is the junction of the B6278 with the A68. The A68 is still blocked in parts due to an overturned snowplough.
This is a main road in Consett. The base is frozen under the snow and lethal.
A side road - again frozen underneath.
This is Durham Road, Blackhill. It has seen more traffic and is clearer as a result, but impassable to lorries - they can't get up the hill.
This is the B6278 from the A68 heading towards the village.
The B6306 through the village. My house up ahead on the right.
It is forecast for us to keep getting hammered until late tomorrow!

There has just been a lightning flash and the loudest thunderclap I have ever heard in my life. The windows shook and alarms are now going off. I thought it was an explosion at first.
Blizzard now.

Both Herself and I have cleared our paths and driveway today, once each, but it's back over an inch deep again half an hour later! Took this before I took the dogs out, the table has another couple of inches of snow on it since then. All the bits of snow are from our spaniels' legs when we got back, including the big snowball top left. We've usually had him clipped by now, as all the snow/ice in his fur hurts to get out! Poor wee soul.

Blizzarding on and off in the City too. Toying with the idea of going home but might wait for the traffic (and hopefully the snow) to abate a little.

At home this morning up at the North Downs; nothing to really shout about: 12 miles away at work in Weybridge: It's amazing the difference in only a few miles.

Snow's a bit deep even for 4WD (unless you have more clearance)
The photo of the table and the X4 were taken yesterday. There is at least another 6 inches on top of that this morning.

You absolutely love this don't you Mark?
I hate it, had a meeting 4 miles away from my house and got the 3 series stuck after half a mile so turned round a came home. I've only had about an inch of snow, the 3 series and cayman are equally useless in this weather.
