All the old giffers were in Tesco this afternoon buying all the milk, bread and tinned goods! 🙄 We did our normal weekly shop, albeit the menu this week consists of stuff that can easily be cooked on a gas stove without needing an oven.
Land Rover filled with diesel and the battery on charge. Being sat for the best part of a month has drained it more than I would like.

There have been a few pointless flurries of snow throughout the day but it has come to nothing. I think the fun is meant to start tomorrow.

Bright sunshine up here all day after a couple of flurries at about 7 a.m. that didn't lie. I'll probably get snowed in tonight!

We had the lightest of coverings in Fulham at 9am this morning - just enough to whiten everything but I expect it has all gone during the day. It has flurried all day in the City without amounting to anything remotely meaningful and I just spoke to my mother up on the east coast of Suffolk and she said it been the same there.
So I am tempted to suggest that all this talk of Snowmageddon is somewhat exaggerated.
Although it hasn't been in Italy... My wife's ancestral village up in the Appenines by the Marches/Umbrian border apparently made the news in Italy today after receiving over 60cms of snow in a single night, falling on an existing accumulation of more than that. The photos are quite something. And even down by the beach where my father-in-law lives they've had snow - over half a foot of it judging from the photos.

There was a light flurry today during my grandads funeral but the clouds parted and the sun shone as his coffin was taken away to the crematorium which I think cheered most of us up a bit.
Both our girls schools issued weather warnings for Thursday so they’re obviously expecting the worst. My wife’s school has not, however, so she might be taking them in with her to sit in her classes if she still has to teach!

Snowmageddon, Beast from the East, Thundersnow. It’s all bollocks, the papers love a good weather scare narrative and the disappointing thing is now the BBC and the Met Office are feeding them. It’s going to be a bit nippy, we get it. I’ll put a hat on.

It’s started here in the last thirty minutes. I won’t hold my breath for a winter wonderland when I wake up in the morning. I’m meant to be going to the office for the first time this year on Thursday and I was hoping I had a compelling excuse not to go in.

We’ve had a full dusting of snow but the schools are opening and a couple of cars have driven down our road (on was an Impreza the other a Navara so that doesn’t necessarily mean my Golf will make it!)

I opened the curtains to a disaster scene this morning. A DUSTING of snow. How awful. Work have hired in a load of 4x4s and distributed them across the county, as we have very few, given the cost and that their abities are generally not needed. There was a very nice black Merc ML sat in the car park last night. Not your usual police car!

It’s pretty white up here and the road is passable. It keeps snowing heavily on and off. Lots of local accidents due to idiots apparently. I don’t have to go anywhere, thankfully.

2" of snow here in Newcastle. I'm devastated as I was hoping to leave the house at some point today and now it looks like I'll be trapped inside for the next few days, living on Cup-a-Soups. I might go out in the back garden and dig out a large "H" in the snow incase the rescue helicopter needs somewhere to land.

The BBC news had someone at a grit depot in Kent last night after the council had reported a snow emergency. The reporter was surrounded by dry concrete and clear cars with not the slightest sign of anything white!
Sure there may have been snow forecast for later but there's nothing like panicking in advance!

In Italy they've now got over 2m of the stuff up in the village and over a foot down on the beach. Still eff-all in London although it must be particularly cold because even I dug out a woolly hat to wear on to walk to the tube station and I loathe all forms of headgear.

What little we had this a.m. had gone before ten, which was good because I had a meeting in amore rural area, with a guy who lives down a steep and poorly-surfaced road, with poor visibility on exit. Car largely covered in snow when I emerged, but the car was fine getting out. Only slight hiccup was when I applied the handbrake at the top and the car slid back a few inches. I did then wonder how it would be from a standing start at what is probably the steepest bit where it emerges onto the road, but it was 'uneventful.'
