Great photos, great vehicle, great attitude (Mark), appalling gratitude (them). My cars are fairly useless in snow on summer tyres. But any one of them might surprise a few people if they were on winter tyres! |

Got a call from a mate this afternoon. An elderly couple had gone off the road in the same location as this morning’s photos. A Ford Kuga was well beached in a deep snowdrift on the opposite side of the road. They said they had braked to avoid a car coming the other way, but as they had gone off the right hand side, I suspect they weren’t paying attention instead. They look a long way off the road.... I'm half-hoping for a bit of snow this winter darn Sarf to see what an AWD Kuga is capable of...... |

They are pretty good Chris, but the tyres will be the problem. This was just on normal road tyres and was simply spinning the wheels. One thing I did notice was that the fronts had to spin up quite a bit before the power was transferred backwards. I imagine it would be pretty good on all season or winter tyres. |

There is YouTube video demonstrating the benefit of winter tyres, at Tamworth Snowdome. They use Ford Kugas in that, both AWD and FWD, on summer and winter tyres.

It does show the futility of purchasing one of these vehicles if you're not prepared to invest in the correct tyres for the conditions. Save your money and just buy the FWD version. |

Was very pleased to have the Shogun on all terrain winter tyres today - terrible conditions here. In all wheel drive and with the right tyres we went easily up a hill, near our house, that had three stuck cars on it. This is the main A5 a mile from our house.  |

Zilch, nothing, nowt, square root of fuck all in Rugby today despite forecasters predicting 2-5cm. Seems according to my weather radar that the snow showers missed up by just a few miles. We rarely get snow in Rugby, the last time we got a good fall was 2013. Rugby is low lying. We are due some on Sunday though

This is the main A5 a mile from our house. 325 went fine yesterday - running on Conti 850s Even stopped at a different deserted car park on way home, switched all the aids off and made use of the LSD ......just for old times sake and research of course  |

Earlier today the forecast was a day of snow for Sunday but a dry and clear day today. With that in mind I got around to replacing the broken tiles on the roof of the barn - it’s now weather tight for the first time in years.
I’ve just checked the weather and it seems we’re not expecting snow now.

Supposed to be taking the kids back to Swindon this afternoon, just looked at the traffic and it looks like chaos all the way already. Will see how it looks later and decide then. It would be much better if more people had the right tyres for winter.....  |

Just been watching a neighbour trying to get up our road in his Golf. He’s made us about 20% of the way (many tines....), all he’s doing is making it harder for anyone else to go and risking hitting something! The only vehicle to make it so far is an Evoque.
i think I’ll pull up a chair and get some popcorn....Q7 just clouted the kerb going too fast downhill, A4 Quattro made it after deciding to go slow following 2 failed attempts....
