Not the greatest start to a week, is she OK?

Seeing as she only moved home on Saturday-Sunday with help from a few friends and me, not a great start to her new life. Also seeing that I spent some time "tidying" the car up and cleaning/polishing the car a few weeks ago, also not good. Yes thanks, she is shaken but uninjured. Car is driveable, it has a nasty crease in the nearside rear wing and the wheelarch is looking a bit sorry too. Bus driver admitted full blame and said he did not see her, but that's little consolation. She got to work and immediately asked for the day off.
2020 is turning out to be a really crap year She's already got the car booked in to a garage on Friday to investigate a loud knocking noise from the front offside suspension

The good news being that she is OK and the other driver has copped, meaning time but hopefully nothing else. Hopefully this will be sorted in a few weeks.

It's only metal Chris. The main thing is that she's ok and hopefully this hasn't put her off driving in her local area.

Total self interested moron on a bike last night. Sitting at traffic lights he makes his way to the front of the queue and positions himself well in front of the traffic for when the lights change. He then holds up the traffic and perhaps 5 or 6 cars managed to find the space to pass him before we got to the next set of lights. Fanny features goes straight to the front and we go through the same routine again. Over 2 miles later and 5 sets of lights he still goes to the front. I thought a white van man was going to side swipe him at one point. He single handedly created a tail back of hundreds of yards just because he kept going to the front of the queue - it meant that no cars got through consecutive sets of lights on green as they would have done had the selfish pr*ck not parked himself in front of everyone many times over. One guy obviously had a few words to say to the cyclist as he passed him because there was much gesticulation. Blood pressure and road rage would be significantly reduced if cyclists just kept their position in the queue. Glaswegians must be going soft if he managed to do that without getting a slap!

She's OK, bus driver pulled out of a bus stop without looking - or at least he failed to see her, so it was low speed. Not what she needs on top of a home move, and she also works 5 days a week 9am to 6pm, so getting time to take the car for estimates, dropping it off, collecting it etc is all a big hassle for her

Glad she's not injured and the repairs are sorted with minimal fuss.

Don't they have that down in London?

Whoops, I'm the villain again.
Drove into the local town, diligently slowed to 30 coming into the limit, continued at 30 or just under through the traffic calming, spotted 2 plods stood at the side of the road 300 yards further up and stuck to the under 30 I was doing. Got waved down by a cheerful looking copper. 'Do you know why we've stopped you?' Not really. 'You were speeding' at this point he showed me the display reading 26.
Turns out the speed limit goes from 60 straight to 20 (well, there is a school right at the limit signs) and doesn't return to 30 for quite some distance.
The locals have been complaining about speeding so the police are obliged to show a presence and monitor it. Anyway, I got off with a warning. Ironically when I returned along the same road later I followed a car that went into the 20 limit, continued along at 30 and then pulled into a driveway. So one of the residents doesn't give a shit about speeding then.
For John it's as you come into Cupar on the A913 from the Perth side - the policeman said there'll be an increased presence here in the future. I've already seen the cardboard cutout policeman a few times.

^ I noticed last Saturday when I drove up to Harrow to help younger daughter that there are now a number of areas with 20mph limits on main roads. Very annoying as many don't seem to bother to comply and rush past at 35 or so.......

It looks as though we might be coming across on Friday (either to St Andrews or Elie, not sure which yet) for a week although I will have to come back for work on Monday. I thought the 20mph limits were only at school times - that would definitely have caught me! Pleased to hear that the Police were in a reasonable mood.

I think I know where you're tsalking about; no matter where it is, 60>20 direct like that is too much of a sudden drop IMO, be safer for drivers and kids (when they are actually in school that is!) to have a more graduated reduction.

I thought the same about the 20 limits only being at school time but apparently not. I'm certain that when you go into Dairsie the sign there says it only applies when the lights are flashing. Ian, I was down there again at lunchtime and there is a 30 limit for about 100 yards so it's not quite 60 to 20! Dairsie might be the same but it's unusual to have a school as the first building when you come into somewhere. They're both primary schools I think.

If you drive from Perth through Abernethy, Newburgh and then cross over the A92 to go towards Cupar then it's that road. I suspect if you were going to Leuchars to fly then you'd actually turn onto the A92 and head up that until you got closer to Dundee.

Oblivious silly bitch in a CRV indicates left on a roundabout and continues to go all the way around with the result that I nearly pulled out in front of her.
She then proceeded to use the right turn only lane while signalling right to go straight on. Clueless.

Roundabout indicating is piss poor at the best of times, most common is continuing to signal right then taking the next exit.

I played golf on my own yesterday because my playing partner is on holiday so I got off early and was on the road back home about 9.30am. Within half a mile of each other I met two people with a death wish. The first was a motor cyclist coming the other way around a left hander for me and a right hander for him. His tyre may just about have been on the white line but his body and the rest of his bike was well and truly on my side of the road as he was cranked right over at warp speed. It's not the widest of roads so my options were limited but I squeezed left and he somehow lifted himself closer to upright as his head flashed past my door mirror. I negotiated another 2 corners before being faced with a 110 Defender almost totally on my side of the road as the young girl driving discovered that the only way she was going to make it round these tight corners at the speed she was going was to cut the corner. I slammed on the brakes (I think with help from the car which flashed up a red warning on the dash and sounded an alarm) and she had a bit of a moment as she realised the enormity of her stupidity. The Stockiemuir road can bring a lot of motoring enjoyment but also far too many idiots. I was just glad to get back home safely!

Funnily enough, that was the road I was confident it would be, even before I got to the last line!

Funnily enough, that was the road I was confident it would be, even before I got to the last line! When on the golf course, we can hear the bikes getting cranked up to serious speed before they brake hard, take the next corner and then rocket off again. Unfortunately the number of times we hear ambulances or see the air ambulance helicopter heading down the same road suggests that the skill levels of the riders/drivers don't quite match their ambitions.

I think that's a constant background sound effect to summer golf, I used to hear sirens going up the A92 every Saturday when I played.

Thus it ever was along there, sadly. And the ones who survived that, somehow appeared on the Isle of Man when I lived there, and mangled themselves on the Mountain instead!!

Joining the interstate today where 2 lanes merge into one slip road. I had the right of way and was faster, so moved ahead of the vehicles joining from the second lane. The lady in the other lane slowed for some reason and the guy behind started beeping and tailgating her. I went on ahead and joined the interstate and settled into the ‘slow’ lane, doing around 60. The car behind the lady, accelerated flat out and overtook her, then pulled in front of her and slowed right down. So much so that I was pulling away from them at a considerable rate, doing 60mph.
Not sure what the guys problem was. He was in a hurry and then he wasn’t. But he was acting like a complete idiot.

More idiocy than villainy. I was at Gleneagles last Thursday to meet clients. When I drove into the driveway there was a Police Kuga sitting in the entrance of the road opposite. The entrance to the hotel is about 200 yds into a 30mph limit. I parked my car and had a wander down to the practice area because I was early: this took me down the road the Police car was on. Just after I crossed the road, an 8 series coupe (sounded like an 840i) came out of the hotel gates and turned right. As he came out of the gates he would have been face to face with the Police, across the road and he was turning into a 30mph limit with 200yds to the derestricted sign. Like all sensible people, he floored it! I saw the two Policemen look at each other, start the car, blue lights on and after him but he kept his foot in so I have no idea how or where it ended!
