Not a surprise to some, but the car is up for sale. I've priced it competitively at £15k so will see how it goes.
I find that I no longer take it for a drive just for the sake of it and it is not getting enough use on a normal basis to justify keeping it. I'm having more fun with the Land Rovers if I'm being honest.
I've no plans to replace it with anything at this moment in time.

I hope she goes to the right home and the sale goes well. Good luck.

It's a shame, but if you are not using it and don't like it sitting there, best to free up the money and enjoy the Landies.

Well you've had a it a good amount of time, done lots of fun things in it, and it will probably leave your custodianship in much better shape than it arrived. Enjoy your other steeds and do something nice/fun with (at least part of) the sale proceeds.

Any bites, yet? It's a stunning example that's had a lot (!) of work done. Whoever buys it will get a good example.

It's a shame to see it go but it hasn't been without its issues and if it isn't used, what's the point of keeping it? Much better to have cash in the bank.

That looks like a hell of a lot of car for the money, when you think what old 911's are worth its a steal.

Could you get more next spring or do you need the space, not just garage wise?

If I've still got it in the spring, the price will be £17-18k. The only other car that fits in the garage is the Mazda, so I'm not desperate for it to be gone, but if it does I'll be happy.

I've spoken with the French guy. I've promised him some chassis photos and photos of the bad bits I've mentioned in the advert. So far it seems legit.

I've had a couple of bits of interest, but as soon as I send them chassis photos, I don't hear back. It's priced to reflect it needs bits doing.
There was a recent topic on PH from a private buyer and he was quite rude about private sellers. He got short thrift from the TVR community. It seems that most private buyers won't pay restored car prices, but want a perfect car for entry level money.
I think it will be staying for a while yet as I'm not letting it go for peanuts. I went for Sunday lunch this afternoon up the military road into Northumberland. It did feel rather special, it has to be said. I need to drive it a lot more.

I need to drive it a lot more. Indeed you do... this is the trouble with having multiple cars... you need the time to be able to maintain and enjoy them all in turn. I find it hard enough just managing to keep the Fiesta and Kuga in trim, what with having to make sure that the Captur is also looked after as the wife does nothing except put fuel in it (I have to arrange insurance, servicing, MoT, tyres etc etc) and then there's the matter of making sure both my daughters look after their cars too (ie I get to help sort out whatever needs doing)

It doesn't take a lot of servicing. Oil change, brake check and fluids along with a grease of the prop.
I have the MX-5 to deal with. I won't touch it persoanlly. It has a dodgy EGR and broken AC. Some of AC is down to fan not working but I also think that there is a blockage somewhere.
I'm hoping the Mazda place can code the ECU to ignore the EGR and properly diagnose the AC issue.

The Mazda needs a supercharger kit and fruity exhaust. As for the TVR, if only I had a spare £15k

I had a Facebook comment from a TVR friend of mine urging me to keep it. He reckons the Chimaeras haven't come into their own in value terms yet.
I think he is right to an extent. They are never going to make megabucks as there are far too many of them, but I do agree they are undervalued at present. I could sit on mine quite happily and keep it ticking over for not a lot and see what happens. Hopefully I will drive it a lot more this summer.

Are you more likely to be able to sell it for decent money in the summer? I know they always say that soft tops sell when the sun comes out but wasnt sure how well that applies to more specialist machinery such as the TVR.

I would have thought TVRs would sell best during Movember. Once you've got the pornstar 'tache it's an easy step to buying the hairy chested sportscar.

I need to drive it a lot more. Indeed you do... this is the trouble with having multiple cars... you need the time to be able to maintain and enjoy them all in turn. Exactly this - it's what puts me off having a third "fun" car. I'm sure if I lived in a large house with a spacious garage somewhere rural where I drove every day, then that would be no problem. But as a central Londoner, I barely drive the two cars we do have.

I know what you mean. I always think that if I win the lottery I'll buy a country house in Northumberland with a large garage workshop. I'll employ an old ex-mechanic called Grayson who will spend his time servicing and washing a fleet of classic cars. I'll come in from shooting and hop in one that has been pulled round in front of the house and head into town to exercise my Droit du Seigneur rights.
