A VW Arteon at the weekend. In black rather than the mustard press cars but still a very handsome car.

At the Royal Highland Show on Saturday and sat in a very nice AMG GTs. As a stationary object of desire and an aural delight when the throttle was blipped it is hard to see many cars having as much attraction. It is a lovely cockpit and more spacious that I thought it would be. I also sat inside a new E Class Coupe and thought it was a significant improvement on the old one - the instrument panel was the smaller of the two screens but you can get it with the same one that was on the S Class Coupe I drove in April and that would really lift the car into another class. The jury is still out a bit on the slab sided look in some colours and the boot was smaller than the 4 series but the rear seat room was pretty reasonable. The salesman was very keen to let me try an E43 version when it comes out - I might just do it for the experience.
I also had a go on their F1 simulator and had a Vettel moment when I was leading on lap 3, on the straight and holding my line, I got a punt up the back from a Ferrari that put me down to 4th by the end!

Herself and pal went on Thursday top (try to) avoid the worst of the crowds; I think it worked, to a degree anyway! I was at the LMA model aircraft show over the weekend (more of which later, probably) and on Saturday parked up next to a Tesla Model X. Didn't take a pic or too long a look at it, as the owner/s were still in it, but it doesn't seem particularly striking in the metal. Maybe it's just me . .

We joined the queue for parking about 2 miles before the airport turnoff, on the M8.

I think the weekend must've been some sort of effort to get classics out and about.
Some stand outs were an MG RV8, Triumph TR3 (I think) that was 'making progress' and a 1993 K reg Rover 214SLi which had that 'one owner from new' look about it. I know there were a couple of others that I just can't remember.

A pre-facelift Spec B in red parked over the road from us most of today. They did another red, a metallic, darker version that far better suited the shape of the car IMO. Still, they're growing rarer by the day, so shouldn't grumble! multi image upload

So many Evoque's today I thought there must be some sort of convention going on! In amongst that lot were a metallic-gold-wrapped GT-R (which Herself was almost drooling over - yuk!) which looked as you'd expect but sounded much better than I've heard from others, and a superb 3.0S Capri in JPS black & gold. Bit surprised to see the Capri out and about to be honest, given how wet and horrible it's been all day today.

I saw a dark grey GT-R in Cupar yesterday and it looked quite decent. I'm always surprised by their visual bulk though.

Just this second walked past as an Aston Martin DB11 Volante drove past with a slightly camouflaged rear end. The V12 burble was deep and growly. Lovely proportions

A Porsche 998 GT2, a Ferrari F430 overtaking an Acura NSX, a full charging station of Teslas- all models except the early sports car were there - and a vintage Corvette Stingray which looked really good.

I saw a white estate Alpina B'whatever yours is' last night.
I was out for a walk at lunchtime and saw what I thought was a 10 year old Nissan Cube but on closer inspection it had Mugen badges and was a bit larger than a Cube.

I'd guess you saw the one which is based near me. It was the uk press car.

Whilst out on a bicycle ride this evening I came across a Hyundai iX35 with some added chrome Oh, no wait, I saw the front, it's the new Maserati Levante, the same one as I saw last week parked up as I drove post a petrol filling station

Now this is rather special. I'm not sure if this is currently being run by a motoring journo or a lucky owner has got his hands on one of the first, I have seen Autocar's Matt Saunders in the town so he may live here, but this as I cycled past certainly caught my attention. The new Mercedes AMG GT-R, the R version no less. God this is stunning in the flesh

A white Mondeo nearly pulled out in front of me on a roundabout yesterday. Oh, no, hang on, a double take confirmed it was a new Audi A5 Sportback. Is it just me or are they separated at birth - the window line is almost identical; the side creases are very similar; and they are both bloaters now with a bulbous front half to their bonnet.

Design wise Audi are making some right stinkers at the moment. The A5 is far too busy while the entire Q range is a mess.

The dark green Audi RS5 coupe that was on the Autocar site (in the side to side drive with a 20v Quattro) looked awful - cartoonish wheels and arches, over-styled and now devoid of every bit of that refined quality and understatement that I used to so admire in Audis.

An 08-plated Fiat Bravo on my way in this morning. I actually had forgotten they still made them then - it actually looked in pretty good condition for its age too.

Nope, definitely a Bravo. I even put it through MCC to check; Fiat Bravo Active, to be precise.

Nope, definitely a Bravo. I even put it through MCC to check; Fiat Bravo Active, to be precise. It was successor to the Stilo. I remember now I have had a look. en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fiat_Bravo_(2007)Im guessing they didn't sell many.

It was also a fore-runner of the Stilo, as there was a version out in the early/mid 90's too. That one might have been out round about the same time as the Tipo - or morphed into it, I can't remember now.

The was the Bravo (3 doors) and Brava (5 doors) and Marea saloon and estate.

Forgot those existed. Saw a white with black roofed DB11 on Fleet Street earlier. Driver gunned it off the lights and it sounded fantastic.

Mentalists. My uncle used to have Merea Weekends as company cars (which the AA filled their fleet with, presumably because they had such good access to breakdown recovery vehicles!). Hey were utter piles of poo. One even had the engine fall out when it was only 6 months old. My brother now works at a Fiat dealer and the new Tipo isn't exactly selling like hot cakes either.
