In Edinburgh yesterday and saw a couple of the new London-style taxis. They manage to look quite modern.

One of my customers who has just bought a new RS6 performance is in one of his other cars today, an MX-5 BBR 270, which he included the suspension work and wheels as well as the engine and exhaust changes and a hard top. Must be pretty quick and apparently it’s a huge amount of fun on the track and road, especially in these slippy conditions which is why he’s using it today. Looks much less....errrr....feminine than the standard model and much better than the current one. I think it’s not having off roader ride height / wheel arch gaps that makes the biggest difference. Apparently he’s got a couple of Ducati (Panigle V4 & Monster) as well, as bikes are his real passion, but I don’t know any more than that. edit: picture which probably should be in the dodgy parking thread.....

Nice. Huge amount of money those conversions. I certainly wouldn’t want to spend upwards of £6k on our NC.

One of my mates has had 3 RS6s, a V10 and 2 current shape V8s. They're extremely rapid but whenever we went out in it he got frustrated on the motorway as it doesn't have any lane-clearing ability (if that still exists) because other drivers just see an Audi behind them. When you did get a clear bit though the acceleration from 70 to, er ....... was incredible.
Sadly though even an RS6 can be defeated by a pothole!!

Lane clearing ability is an interesting one. The 535d doesn’t really have any during the day, but the voodoo lights make a big difference when it’s dark, even before I use main beam to turn night into day. In comparison, a decent percentage of people jump out of the way when there’s a bright red Porsche behind them.

Even normal adaptive headlights seem to do a good job as the driver in front finds the sides of his car illuminated and either feels a bit intimidated or pulls over to find out what it is behind.

The 320 is good at lane clearing but only when I have the roof bars fitted. Despite it being a black car!
I saw a series 1 Passat CC this morning and thanks to an aftermarket exhaust was able to identify it as a VR6 version. I guess they're pretty rare!

Yes, it’s the extra light in their mirrors / alongside the car that gets their attention. An unexpected side benefit.

Saw a Trabant the other day. Wondering how it made it as far as Ireland!

I left our unsalted winter wonderland this morning and made it to the salted and clear main road with plenty of snow falling. There was a car coming (Ibiza 5 door) so I waited and when it passed I noticed that the nearside rear window was down. I pulled up alongside his offside at some lights a few miles down the road and his offside rear window was down as well - and the snow was swirling around and going in to his car. Too many sprouts for Christmas? Very odd.

You don't see these very often (haven't a clue what's going on with the photo uploader!)

CL63 AMG. Drove past mine today. Rather brave of him considering the snow on the road. I’m not a fan of current AMG Mercs but it sounded very menacing. Looked good in black with no chrome bits.

I spotted an early Honda NSX out in rural Fife yesterday. Brave given how cold it was and the likelihood of salt on the roads. It wasn't the same one I spotted in the same area last summer either.

Two today that are unusual not for the vehicles but for the number plates. Driving south towards San Francisco, having been up at Mt. Shasta, I overtook a camper van which had Swiss plates, and a Tesla Model S that was on UK plates. He was about 150 miles from the nearest supercharger, so I hope he had enough power to get there.

Visited my Nan yesterday and noticed her neighbour has an original Toyota Crown on his drive. It’s in pretty poor condition sadly and looks like it’s either been lowered or it’s suspension has collapsed.

I think the window of the Aston is obscuring the Captur.

Not my spot, my Dad sent it to me this morning. They’re in Australia for their annual 3 months avoiding the UK winter and he’s got an SV6 Black rental car (same as I had last year) so he dropped into the local dealership for a brochure and they were desperate to show him this end of line special. It’s an HSV GTSR W1, list price of about £100k (this one was $185k), 635hp, 600lb ft, Trofeo R tyres etc. It’s a shame the Australian built cars are no more and the new Commodore is a rebadged Insignia.

I followed an I-Pace out of Daventry earlier today. It was fully disguised in a green swirly wrap, but had a Jaguar hash tag electric something down the side. It goes well.

Saw my first E-pace on the road today. I hadn’t realised they were out yet. Bright red wasn’t the best colour for it but nice enough.

Defender with the bonnet-mounted spare wheel option - and the added bonus of about 4 inches of packed snow on top of that!

Lindsay was in Porsche Silverstone today (MOT time, passed with flying colours) and this was her view.... It’s not immediately obvious from the picture and she says it doesn’t do it justice as all, it’s a dark purple which she loved. £150k inc £13k options.
