Nice spec, what a great Christmas present

Very nice spec.
The only things of significance that I wouldn't tick which you have ticked are privacy glass (personal preference) and power steering plus (I prefer the more natural feel of the normal steering, for me the 'plus' makes the steering too light and removes even more feel).
Not long to wait now!
My Cayman goes in for its first service at the beginning of December and I have got a Macan for the day as a courtesy car. It will be the first time I have driven one.

Decision made - yay! I know I'm going to regret asking this, as a non-Porsche aficionado - but what is a "collapsible spare wheel"? Being Porsche, I have visions of something made of some special sort of malleable metal, that can be folded up into a small space and expands miraculously into a full size wheel and tyre, hardening on contact with air. Voodoo at work. Or it is just a Porsche name for a temporary spare like everyone else has?

I used to think they drove very much like a Golf Gti rather then a little SUV. Very much enjoyed giving them a thrashing everytime I got one as a courtesy vehicle. Nice spec and near identical to what I'd go for. Though I'm surprised you've gone for Black leather have they removed the various tan/brown options or is not available on the GTS? Agreed with Dan on the Power Steering Plus, I've never driven a Porsche with it but understand that it would benefit the mean streets of London but would irritate once your on the move. The only other colour that would interest me over the Gentian is the Copper Ruby. Enjoy

If it is still like the 911 and 928, the tyre is deflated on the rim to save space and you get a compressor to pump it up, quite how good a 35yr old compressor will be is another matter!

The salesman insisted it was necessary on a Macan and I was thinking of Mrs RT parking it.
They had a Copper Ruby GTS on my chosen alloys in the showroom. I liked it but my wife said it was “old man”, which was the same reason for ditching the walnut trim for chestnut trim…

Here you go…the Panamera next to it is Gentian Blue so was great to compare and contrast (they also had a Cayman in Night Blue in the showroom, so that was super-helpful in making final decision:

Or you on longer trips.... Re salesman if it is 'essential' how many used ones are fitted with it? Have you test driven one to make sure you like one with the steering plus option? Can it be fully turned off like the Fiat city button?

Mrs RT didn’t like the Agate and the salesman also pulled a face when I mentioned it. We contemplated Bordeaux but it was a bit much with the Gentian Blue.

That is a nice spec. Decent amount of ‘gussying’ I’m a little surprised at how far away it is from ‘Racing Spec’, an all black interior and no Walnut trim! Sounds like it’s Mrs RT spec then, but at least you’ve gone for what you both want as opposed to resale spec, which would have included all the usual GTS bits and pieces. I.e lots of Race-Tek I probably wouldn’t add much to it, just contrast stitching to break up the blackness, Burmester, gloss trim on the outside (there’s a lot of plain plastic), comfort access, dimming mirrors and adaptive cruise….probably race-tex headlining as well… but I appreciate you have to draw the line somewhere. Am I right in thinking Matrix lights can’t be included now? That would probably be a deal breaker for me on a daily, it’s one thing that massively annoys me about the Golf when it’s dark and particularly when it’s dark and wet. Not long to wait now, exciting times indeed!

Mrs RT was in favour of a brighter interior but neither of us liked the beige or fiddler grey options, and the Bordeaux red really didn’t go well with Gentian. PTS wasn’t an option - too pricey at over £6k and kicked the delivery date into the middle distance.
I’d have liked walnut but the chestnut is a decent if pricey compromise that also isn’t as much of a resale killer on a GTS as walnut apparently would be.
Spec-wise, I have dimming mirrors - may have forgotten to list them.
Contrast stitching is stupidly expensive - over a grand.
The Burmester is also over £3k, and I don’t mind the non-shiny plastic.
Comfort access is a security risk.

And after all I didn’t go for the walnut in the 440i either - that has the “anthracite fine-line wood” trim that’s just a bit more of a contemporary take on wood.

Great spec Racing, shame about the brown/caramel leather not being available but I think you've done the right thing. If you'd given up this build slot I'm sure you'd regret it pretty quickly.

I optioned Anthracite Bamboo in my 520d and have Black Burr Ash in my current car. I wouldn’t have bought one with the Satin Walnut, which is standard in the Autobiography.

....what is a "collapsible spare wheel"?... I had the same question as I'd never heard of a collapsible wheel and had visions of it actually folding up! This is how it works: That's pretty clever. Takes up less space than a normal space saver spare. But I reckon that having to sit there for 11 minutes while it inflates could be the longest 11 minutes of your life :-)

Same as the ones on mine, so not a new idea but not one which has been widely adopted.
Try waiting 11mins with an ancient compressor 😂

Definitely the right colour chosen. I don't want to side with your wife but the copper ruby is a bit old man and won't age well.
I wish you many happy miles in the new car when it arrives: I am sure you will enjoy it. Does that leave me as the last BMW owner on the forum?

Both are great colours. I think I could be persuaded to go Copper Ruby for the rarity but as many clever folk say, rare is rare for a reason. One thing the Macan isn't short of is good wheel options.
Cooper Ruby with tan and walnut would get the salesman sweating but I'd love it.

Tim has a couple, Jeff has the eco wagon and Bob has an X3 Lindsay has the same view on dark reds, anything darker than Carmine is referred to as an old man colour.

It goes in for its MOT tomorrow and it's over 13 and a half years old now. Still enjoying it very much, it's softer than my other two cars but still goes like a rocket when the mood takes.

The only spare should be a full sized equivalent to what's on the car's normal roadwheels That’s really not practical considering the size and width of modern wheels. I’d rather have the rare problem of having to stow a full size wheel for a short trip to a tyre place above having a boot size permanently reduced by a third/half as I lug around a full size spare.

Hmm. I like that ruby-copper-whatever-colour. I’m with Martin on the white stitching against the black leather, but looking at the spec of my own car I’m probably not the person to be giving any advice on spec.
Nice car, as it should be. Great blend of comfort, practicality, desirability and performance. Proper replacement for the GC.
