We had this yesterday from a family of four on bikes, moved over onto the heavily-cambered grass verge and let them have the path. Not a flicker of acknowledgement as they sailed past - didn't even show willing by moving over to the other side of it. And they should have been in the fucking road in the first place. This pisses me off too. I suspect that some cyclists can't take their hands off the bars or they will fall off! In which case they need to master some balance before setting out.

Speaking as a cyclist, a goodly proportion of cyclists have terrible road manners. Obviously I am a responsible and careful cyclist but I do seem to be in the minority.

It does seem like there are more people out and about that before, certainly if I run or cycle from home on the prettier off road routes, between 12 and 2 and between 5 and 7 (I guess there are more than a few of us still keeping work hours). I'm no mornings person so can't comment on that... However the numbers are manageable and people seem in good spirits. Also the 2m social distancing thing as I understood it was originally mentioned for workplaces / bars etc before the full lockdown, I can't imagine the risks are very high as you run/walk let alone cycle past someone momentarily. Handling the packages from your weekly food shop and so on is surely more of a risk. I can't complain - if people value exercise and the outdoors more, that is a good thing for us collectively. What is annoying is the groups of yoofs ignoring it - and despite them not numbering that many, the piles of plastic rubbish around their usual park benches seems the same as before. Unlike before, I'm not now picking any of it up... Oh and those walkers that expect me to nod when I swan past on the bike, so annoying....

The queue for Hasda was an hour to get in to the store but I completely forgot the blank holiday weekend. Most people very polite.

Sainsburys and Tesco were both half an hour yesterday. Mrs 12th did one and I the other - we've managed not to shop for 10-12 days, but needs must.

The Waitrose queue yesterday was a not unpleasant 30 minutes in the sunshine, which included seeing and hearing a Ferrari F430 pull away.
It will be the local butcher and greengrocer tomorrow to stock up for the weekend.
Other than that, the garden is looking neater than ever and I have started on the garage. I have some more vintage style enamel signs to put on the walls and will re-paint some of the floor.

Tesco delivered £180 worth of stuff yesterday (two teenage boys will clear that quickly.....), the only thing we ordered that they didn't supply was flour so we've got pasta again and they even had hand wash back in stock. Quick visit to the local butchers and greengrocers tomorrow and we'll be sorted for now.

We have a wheelie bin here which has food dumped into it, it's full and I mean full. Bin men refused to take it (Understandably)and had a strop leaving bins all over the estate where they do not belong. I did warn the bin company it had happened to give fair warning but the thing is now a health hazard crawling as it is, with maggots. I have my suspicions but no proof.

Mrs Tim went to the local Tesco last night and complained about having to wait. Thing is we're 2 miles outside town and the Tesco is on the other side and she was only gone about 40 minutes in total! I think we're lucky compared to so many others.

I braved the local Tesco the other day and so many people, mostly younger people, were breaking their 2m distance and one way instructions. At one point I had to move backward towards the end of one aisle as some gammon faced prick just sauntered towards us against the arrows. When myself and the elderly lady behind me asked him to turn around he lost his rag and threatened to smash my face in before storming off moaning that he'd been stuck indoors for two weeks! The lady behind me got security to have him thrown out but that just meant that whoever was waiting at home for what he was buying is going without so I wasnt too happy. What is clear is that the situation is causing a lot of people's stress levels to rise and the initial sentiment of us all being in this together is fast disappearing.

I have a suntanned bonce as a result of mine - well plus walking the dog for a hour a day. Alas all I got to hear was a Fiat Spyder jobbie, which was absolutely horrible - bassy, farty and crude.

You can make spread by mixing olive oil and vegetable oil along with a little seasoning and vanilla. Just mix it together in a bowl and leave it to set in the fridge.

Apparently there are street parties and all sorts going on out there. Are they out to prove Darwin?

Apart from enjoying the sunshine in the garden - always nice when you can have lunch outside in the sun, today I washed the BMW and took it out for a quick spin down to Earlsfield and back to get petrol and generally give it a run for the first time in three weeks. Then I also did various bits of gardening, polished our antique dining table with beeswax (overdue, especially since my wife has taken to spritzing absolutely everything with Dettol) and shaved off the goatee beard that I have been nurturing for the past month (my wife hated it and I promised to shave it off for Easter).
We also walked up to Bayley & Sage, the deli (more of a food jewellery store really) on Parsons Green, where we managed to snaffle the last bag of flour (unobtanium in the supermarkets for weeks now), so my wife now planning to bake an Easter cake.
On the way there we walked up the New Kings Rd, which was frankly already way busier than it should have been - groups of twenty-somethings in shorts, large families with multitudes of children and dogs, cyclists galore (including on Boris bikes) and no particular shortage of traffic. By the time we left the shop, it had got even busier - groups of people standing around yakking so we instead walked home via the residential side streets which (a) were mercifully virtually deserted and (b) turned out to be full of spectacularly blossoming cherry trees.

This afternoon we had the first round of our neighbourhood Zoom quiz. Like a pub quiz, but with everyone in their own house or garden. It worked very well. We came second by one point, so will have to up the ante next time.

Whatever organisation is responsible for the road markings has been busy around here - now they've moved on to the road signs:

My wife went to our local big Sainsburys in the car earlier. She was back within 10 minutes saying the queue, at around 10am, was round the block.

I had to go through to St Andrews just now. No queue at the chemists and the roads were reasonably quiet, especially at my favourite places . Unleaded was 99.8p at the garage in Dairsie. When did we last see that?

Petrol today was £1:02 but with a small tank does not take that much so £10 and a few pence is hardly a shocker but is nice to get.

Bummer, I paid 34p yesterday! Do you use Boiler Juice? Worth signing up if you don't. No, I haven't heard of them but I'll check them out. We might be hampered as I think all the small independents got merged into Certas Energy which may limit the options.
