I've got a shed full of them after some gardening adjustments. What size of stake would you deem correct

I've no idea how tall he is. High enough to make an example of him.

Is it just me or do those adverts have a curiously dated feel to them? Swop the BMW for a MGB and you'd be back in the 70s.

What a very unpleasant looking thing that is. If it was a person they'd be offered cosmetic surgery.

Is it me, or does she have very long legs? 😆 Models generally do. I've usually required a stepladder.

In these gender-non-binary times it probably isn't the done thing to use a good looking woman to advertise a car these days - it might just be the gopping front end of the car but I wonder if that isn't the only thing quite right in that image.

It looks like a genuine car (although the model is a humungously bad photshop, sitting on the bonnet but her legs still touch the ground!)
We will just have to wait and see what it looks like on the road if anyone is brave or stupid enough to part with their cash.
I really think having two changeable front ends for different markets would have been a much smarter move by BMW.

So, the future is ugly :-(

I'm trying to be positive; I had similar revulsion when Audi introduced their "beard" grille on the A4. The numberplate softened it to "acceptable" in Audi's case - I'll reserve full judgement until I see it in the flesh.

I was thinking along the same lines as Bob, largely based on the fact that familiarity would soften the blow.

You're both too generous. It's that accepting attitude that lets them get away with it. Remember, they're all going to be white with a black grille that'll make it look like it's missing part of its face. It should be called the Danniella Westbrook.

Oh dear.
Presumably there'll be the option to "upgrade" it with an expensive "black pack"...

Once Alpina has worked its magic we'll all fall in love with it again. Love seems a strong word. I don't even love the current 4-series and I own one! I think the current 4-series is a handsome, elegant and largely cohesive design (although it's not perfect by any means and very wheel-sensitive) but it doesn't make me go weak at the knees with desire. I have however always looked at it and thought "that's a nice-looking car". This new car looks like a fairly bland effort afflicted with Bugs Bunny's front teeth infilled with BMW's weird new grille mesh (although I dare say traditional horizontal slats may at this point look even worse). At no point do I look at it and think "ooh, that looks nice". I expect that painted a dark colour and with blacked out trim, it will be less offensive to the point of being bearable. But that's not really the point. It's a shame to be asked to buy a car that's supposed to appeal at least partly on the strength of attractive styling and then give it a nose that only a mother could love. I did buy such a car once, when I bought my M135i, and whilst it was a great little car to own and drive, the front end styling was undeniably ugly and I missed having a car that prompted me to look back over my shoulder at it.

Painting it black might help as it can hide a lot of poor design features (as it does nice features which is one of the reasons I don't like it), but it won't help anywhere near enough to make that look OK.

A decent starting point would just be to paint the silly bits inside the grille black. I'm not sure what I should refer to them as, they're certainly not vanes in the old sense.

Bizarre that they’ve chosen to add the black rubber body protection strips to the performance package. I suppose it’ll prevent a few parking dents that might otherwise improve the looks.

No, even with a number plate it still looks dreadful. A lot of cars (Audi's) seem to hide shitty grilles quite well with number plates, but not this. Awful

That really is quite ugly.
The white one is especially naff. What on earth has it got just in front of the front wheels, and that side blade doesn't work well on a Macan, much less here.
