I think all the short haul planes are all much of a muchness these days For example I don’t find BA any different to Ryanair or EasyJet - the new slimline seats fitted on most planes now are much better and make a big difference Broadly the same, but my knees were pressed into the seat back in front on my one and only (work trip) flight to Dublin, so I switched to Aer Lingus and there was a bit more space (1.5-2"?), not a lot, but enough to mean I was fairly comfortable.

I'm not a massive fan of Jet2. I find their seats very uncomfortable, even on a 2 hour flight to Mallorca. I always book extra legroom sets too so that pushes the price up a bit. We get the extra leg room seats too but the thing I like about Jet 2 is that they seem to manage their check in really well, especially at Heraklion where you’ll often be through and in departures when other airline passengers are queued out the doors of the terminal. I’m off EasyJet. They closed the Newcastle hub and treated the staff there appallingly. My mate is one of their pilots and has ended up working out of Belfast. He’s one of the lucky ones. Yes, it was disgraceful. There is a pilot (First Officer) in the village and he is now having to commute to Gatwick three times a week.

I’m not too sure , but you are taller than me so it probably makes sense for you . I’ve flew aer lingus a couple of times but The last few times I’ve gone to Dublin it’s been £20 return on Ryanair , and it’s a 40 minute flight so I’ve got no complaints .

Presuming them prices you’re going in the school holidays? We had Gran Canaria booked for Feb but postponed to later this month due to the dog not being well - 5 nights for £400 each all inclusive 4* with TUI, which I thought was good value. We’re off to California in August . No, not in the USA , but near Great Yarmouth. A Parkdean caravan site , £765 for a week. To be fair we have booked it for the Cromer carnival which we’re meeting friends at . We stayed at that same caravan site in April last year. It's fine for what it is but the shop is a bit rubbish and there's no nearby bar if you don't fancy the one on site. The beach is alright for a good walk though and the accommodation was perfectly clean and tidy but basing that on us being the first guests last year when they reopened from lockdown.

The Fiesta has made it into Regtransfer's latest "magazine" (on its own, sadly not alongside my late father's Volvo);
I did wonder if I would be stuck at home over Ester due to yet more fuel shortages gripping the local area; seems like everyone decided to fil up on Wednesday or Thursday and all the stations I passed between home and work were out of diesel or out of all fuel but this morning the first filling station I passed had all grades available and no limit to purchases. We must be the laughing stock of Europe if not the "modern" world with fuel and food shortage, huge queues to leave or enter the country, roads that are falling apart, a train system that seems to close for every public holiday so it can perform maintenance just when private customers want to travel the most etc etc

We have none of those.

Understanding those that live In your neck of the woods, Chris, I can’t help but think leftie forces have planned these shortages and other Brexit related issues just to teach the local voters a lesson for voting away the hopes and futures of their children. None of these issues round our part of outer London which isn’t a million miles away in distance but is somewhat more cosmopolitan.

When I lived in California, I got to see NFL football, MLB baseball games and an NBA basketball game. The only one missing from the American field sports catalog was hockey. Last night, I was watching tv in my room and suddenly wondered if there is a hockey game nearby over the next week. A quick Google and I ended up getting a ticket to see the San Jose Sharks play the St. Louis Blues and am going this evening. I know very little about ice hockey (I played field hockey in school) apart from there are plenty of fights, so should be an experience if nothing else.

Occasionally, during lapses in the fighting, a hockey match would break out.

Pretty much what I have seen. If the idiot box crime programs use scrapping on ice as a trope it must have some vestige of truth in it.

On another forum, a ?pilot? who deliberately crashed a perfectly good aircraft for a video clip seems to be against anything that should be pilot qualities but folk do stoopid things for fun. Apparently.

Hockey is a great spectator sport: fast, all action and fighting. What’s not to like? Here in SK our regional city team, Nitra, made the cup final against Kosice, who are basically the Bayern Munich of ice hockey in SK. Kosice were 2-0 down against Bratislava going into the final third and won 4-2 in their semi. The NHL ice sheet is smaller than the rest of the world, to make the game even faster. The players can also earn unbelievable amounts of money, even by EPL standards.

Apparently they’ve had a bad season and the St. Louis Blues who they played were much better and looked like they were Liverpool playing with Man Utd this season. There was no atmosphere in the place and it wouldn’t encourage me to go again, although I think if I went to a good game with people who enjoy it, it would be a better experience. final score was 3:1 to the Blues.

Yeah, not sure California is much of a hockey state to be fair and away fans are not exactly close enough to make many games.

Following of from the chat about plane seats … we flew to Gran Canaria today on TUI. It felt like an ancient 737 - old chunky seats, cabin run down , and I go to put my armrest down and … You’d imagine TUI would and should be better than the real budget carriers but I have to say Ryanair and easyJet we’re miles better from recent experience

Nice . Love ice hockey . I go to watch Cov blaze when I can . i really wanted to watch NHL when I was in Calgary in 2013 skiing, but it wasn’t on . Watched Lacrosse instead , and it was really entertaining . Great few hours .

Blimey. That's shite. My last EasyJet flight was about three years ago and the biggest difference was the Cabin crew. We had really attentive team led by a really driven customer service manager whereas a lot of BA crew just go through the motions (although the BA flight last week was staffed by a great team). Like all projects I've worked on the team is what makes the difference.
I've recently flown on a newly fitted plane and a slightly less new but not bad A321. The new slim seats on the Nice flight were OK but lacked that little space at the top where you can hang an iPad for in-flight viewing. The Vienna flight had them.

We're just back from Gran Canaria as well. First post pandemic flight. We flew easyJet as usual and as usual, they were very good. Both flights on time, aircraft fairly new (5 year old A320s with the slim Recaro seats) and still reasonably clean on their second or third flight of the day. The crews in both directions were great - cheerful and efficient, and went out of their way to make a fuss of Mini Eff.

There's a new company car at work that looks destined to become a "pool car". When I started last November, the T&C's made reference to mandatory use of the pool car if it was available for any business trip, but when I started I found out that it had been sold and not replaced, not that I have had to make any work journeys yet.
This morning one of the two owners was in early and had unlocked the building. Those of us who also arrived early were invited to take a look. One idea at present is that there will be a track day and we will all get a turn; for reasons apparently connected with insurance, it's been bought in the company name rather than that of the company's founder and co-owner, but if it's registered in the company name and will be insured for all staff to drive, it would make an interesting vehicle in which to visit suppliers and customers/potential customers......
an 08-plate Lotus 7 (may be a Caterham but it has Lotus badging)
