Taking a plate off the i3 and then onto the MINI saw both V5’s back within a couple of days.
Same with an online passport - I think it took 3 days.
As soon as post going in is involved it seems to go downhill very fast. I did my FIL’s DL via post the same time I did mine and it wasn’t back 5 weeks later.

No - I've still not got the V5C for the original purchase from the dealer so can't transfer any plate onto the Polo. The law has changed - in the past my parents bought a used car and had their plate pout on it but you can't do that any more, if you now buy a used car, you have to wait for the paper V5 then send off or go online to put a different plate onto the car. New cars are different, you can transfer a plate ono them with immediate effect from first registration, it's only used cars where the DVLA makes you wait. When I check on the DVLA website, it's still showing date of last V5 issues as being in 2018, so they've not got round to processing the paperwork that the dealer sent in, and that was 2 weeks before the new "22" numbers came out so should have been in plenty of time for prompt action. The dealer said on Saturday (yesterday) that some people who bought new on 1 March from them have already received their V5C's through the post. Meanwhile used car buyers are treated like second class citizens

Who for? You or the Panda? Considering the price of bamboo clothing, not sure how it can be viable but I suppose it depends on the process used, which level of bamboo and whether it is waste from other parts of the process.

I've always wondered why The Ipcress File gets repeated fairly frequently on TV but not Funeral In Berlin nor Billion Dollar Brain

I’ve seen Billion Doller Brain on TV recently, and late last year as well. It’s not aged well.

No, we don't have those X-ray machines any more so that you can see how well your shoes fit. I remember them from my childhood !

Needless to say I have all three on ye olde discs. “I’ll have a beer, danke schön.” ”Bitte, mein Herr.” ”I’d rather have a Löwenbrau.” timeless. 😁

Just sorted this year's holidays. Blimey, flights have gone up. I was looking at Crete, but switched to Corfu after flights were £1,000 to Crete, but half that to Corfu. Both with Easyjet.
Car hire seems extortionate too.

Presuming them prices you’re going in the school holidays?
We had Gran Canaria booked for Feb but postponed to later this month due to the dog not being well - 5 nights for £400 each all inclusive 4* with TUI, which I thought was good value.
We’re off to California in August . No, not in the USA , but near Great Yarmouth. A Parkdean caravan site , £765 for a week. To be fair we have booked it for the Cromer carnival which we’re meeting friends at .

Car hire seems extortionate too. Ryanair (I know, I know..) have started flying to Chania, Crete from Newcastle. I had a quick look and the flights are reasonable. But it is Ryanair. £340 with bags. We’re going to Heraklion in July but via Jet 2, who are decent. Just checked, NCL to Heraklion, two people, 24th June, with bags, £656

I'm not a massive fan of Jet2. I find their seats very uncomfortable, even on a 2 hour flight to Mallorca.
I always book extra legroom sets too so that pushes the price up a bit.

I fly with Easyjet from Luton to Edinburgh a fair bit and the extra legroom seats are broadly the same price, because you have to pay for luggage with a standard ticket as they don't let you take cabin baggage. We've booked Easyjet to Naples for a week on the Amalfi Coast at the end of May. Booked it earlier in the year and I think it was just under £700 for 3 seats, so not too bad and cheaper than the weeks car hire. Main holiday is 2 weeks in the US, which really does feel like price gouging, both the cost of flights and car hire. Easyjet are on my favoured airline list now, as we've just started a contract (via Dnata) to supply everything used on the plane (except the meals). It's a huge range of products and services we do, the drinks you buy, watches/jewellery, cleaning material, liners for cool boxes, everything that goes in the trolleys etc. We do the same for BA, but including the amenity kits (inc returns/recycling), products for the lounges and we repair the trolleys as well.

I think all the short haul planes are all much of a muchness these days
For example I don’t find BA any different to Ryanair or EasyJet - the new slimline seats fitted on most planes now are much better and make a big difference

We get the extra leg room seats too but the thing I like about Jet 2 is that they seem to manage their check in really well, especially at Heraklion where you’ll often be through and in departures when other airline passengers are queued out the doors of the terminal. I’m off EasyJet. They closed the Newcastle hub and treated the staff there appallingly. My mate is one of their pilots and has ended up working out of Belfast. He’s one of the lucky ones.

Four of us are flying BA from Heathrow to Pisa at Easter for about £550 return, including luggage and choice of seats; but I booked that on a deal back in November.
