I went to the supermarket yesterday to pick up some bread, milk and dishwasher tablets. Whilst walking down an aisle there were two elderly women (mid 70's +) and just as I passed one said to the other "and he's really well hung". I'd love to know what kind of conversation they were having!
I got home and my daughter had the kitchen looking like a disaster zone. I opened the dishwasher tablets, put one in the dishwasher and then washed my hands - the water didn't drain and after some conversation it would appear my daughter had been been putting all sorts of stuff down the macerator and hadn't been switching it on for long enough to chew it up properly, hence the blockage. I got my plunger from the garage and after a couple of pumps the water cleared.........and my feet got wet. There was a loose joint under the sink which just opened up under the pressure. To top it off, the brand new bag of 72 dishwasher tablets is now a solid block of mess! (after I had poured the water out of it).
I got a round of golf on the Old Course as part of my Christmas so, just because I can, I have booked myself in this afternoon to try out a few new irons and see if I can find any meaningful difference to give me a reason to change. Everyone likes new shiny things and these are much cheaper than a new car.
For the rest of the week I am working but on Saturday we are going up to St Andrews for a couple of nights at the Old Course and long walks on the beach before coming back to 7 days a week till the end of January. Then relax!

Back in my Oxford estate agency days I was showing someone around a house and the neighbour was mowing his lawn completely bollock naked. It was Summer, though.

I'm pretty sure my grass is still growing. Won't be mowing it at all though, let alone in shorts or naked.

It's definitely been growing then. Last year I only just managed to cut it before it was too long due to a long spell of wet weather in March/April. I might have to venture out to give it a trim a bit sooner this year, I'll need to find a way of chanelling heat from the engine.

Windy day today. Lost some ridge tiles.
On the plus side I’ve acquired a trampoline. Which might be fun.

My mum gained a fertiliser bag - fairly useless to her but probably more use than a trampoline. Unfortunately it was wrapped around her the aerial so I had to go up a ladder to retrieve it as she was worried it'd pull the aerial down as she could see it filling with air each time there was a gust. I don't like heights..........

Where have all the "C"-sized batteries gone? Been trying to buy some for about 3 weeks and there are none in the shops. Fortunately I have some slip-on "converters" so that I can use AA to take their place, but it's a bit mysterious. No shops that I've been into round my way, including the supermarkets, have any and when I was in Swindon on Saturday I noticed the same, not one to be seen anywhere

Loads of different ones available on Amazon….

I found some "C" batteries for sale yesterday, in a "Flying Tigers" shop in Watford. My daughters and I met up in Golders Green Crematorium's Garden of Remembrance to pay respects to my paternal grandparents, The younger one had been doing some research into family history; I could remember where they were cremated and she made contact and found the location. Touching, sad time. Both my grandmothers outlived their husbands by well over 30 years

When you finish stage 1 of your Lego Land Rover Defender and have a few bits left over....
I've pored over the build instructions twice again and I'm sure the beige connector and white spacer are extra freebies - only one of each ever appears in the stage 1 instructions. The others.... reckon I'll crack on with stage 2 and see if it all fits together. Either that or I'll have to start all over again.

I've not built any Lego for a long time, but they always provide spare connectors. More so with the LR models, as it adds to the authenticity!

Yup, there are a few leftover bits at each stage of the Defender build. If you want a real challenge, build a RHD version by mirror-imaging the instructions.... that's what its designer told me, and it can be done ;-)

I happened to wander past a Hyundai dealership on Saturday. There were no used i20's on their forecourt so I entered the showroom and attempted to make contact with one of the sales staff. When I enquired about i20's I was greeted with a response that "they're all sold out". No "sorry", no offer to take my details to follow up, or ask if there was anything else I might be interested in. I suppose that life in car sales is extremely good at the moment
