TBH after this afternoon, I'm not sure about Lewis. He and Max need to re-examine what they're doing (IMHO) before one or both of them get seriously injured or worse

Lewis backed off for turn 4 when he did not have enough advantage but, when max had the same situation at turn 1 he put himself and Lewis off the track. He does not ever back down regardless but always expects the other guy to run off the track to avoid him. Max will, if he does not grow TH up, be another great driver who just does not make a champion.

Went to see the SF Giants play last night. they lost. I’ve seen them play twice and they’ve lost both times. The first time they lost to the Washington Nationals who went on to win the World Series (sic) that year. This time they are top of the league so have a shot at winning the World Series this year. not that I’m a baseball fan, but I was in town and the tickets were as little as $10 each, so we’ll worth it.

A lot- but in the US, they drop ticket prices once a team reaches the playoffs as those tickets are more expensive. Bear in mind before they reached the playoffs, tickets were starting at $100 for the same game. The Rugby tickets I’ve got to see Ireland play the USA next month started at $75 and I’m in the nosebleed section for that! Pitch side seats are $300+! And that’s for a friendly…

A paperback: That's one of my cousins, Jimmy, on the front cover, "culled" from a different photo of him and his dad. I only found out about the paperback a couple of weeks ago having been told about the book by Jimmy's son when I met him in Berlin last September. Jimmy's mum and my maternal grandmother were sisters; it's not until you read the book that you realise just how badly the Japanese treated their prisoners of war. No wonder my mum has never wanted to talk about what happened in Changi

Don't say that Tony Brooks is now driving a Renault..... it wasn't a Renault, he was over at the Shell garage with a flat and asked for some help, I've just asked the service manager, she said "an 02 something or over, I didn't notice"

"It emerged that Rust, set in 1880s Kansas, had been hit by a string of incidents. Baldwin’s stunt double had reportedly accidentally fired two rounds after being told a gun was not loaded. A crew member told the Los Angeles Times they had sent a text message to a production manager saying: “We’ve now had three accidental discharges. This is super unsafe.""
The shooting of a camerawoman with the accidental shooting on the Rust film set has been in the press a lot. But when you read a phrase like this in the paper (bold bit above), you really wonder just how dangerous these sets are. Rule 1 of firearms. If somebody hands you a weapon, whatever they may tell you, first thing you do is check if it is loaded and if so either make it safe or make sure the safety is on. And if loaded check, with your own eyes and actions, whether it is blanks or live rounds. Same applied to Alec Baldwin. He clearly had not checked the gun he was handed was empty or only had blanks in.

^ He's an actor, had he been trained to use guns, real and/or prop guns?
Three incidents on the set suggests to me that maybe someone was deliberately interfering with the weapons with an intention that someone would get seriously hurt or killed

Big Blue's culture post has me feeling somewhat nostalgic and I came across this earlier. www.yfanefa.com/record/15538I have fond memories of this place and a quick Google suggests my old headmaster has received a CBE in this year's honours. An extraordinary man for whom I have a huge amount of respect.

Apparently the 'armourer' had taken the weapons to the range during lunch break. The shooting occurred when the pro's were basically. Not.AB has been around guns on various sets for decades, he should have enough gun savvy to check a weapon he is handed by someone he has known for only a short spell.
It was apparently only the third set this particular armourer had worked on but it is likely to be the last.

Had to laugh today. A colleague decided to opt out of the Company Car scheme and hand in his Mazda for a Volvo S90 diesel, his first car purchase for years. He's spent ages speccing it to get the colour and options he wanted and his local Volvo dealership sourced it for him. It arrived on Monday and he picked it up. He loves it and commented to the salesperson when he started it up how smooth it was for a diesel. "Yes, they've come on leaps and bounds" was her reply. He's driven it for two days, marvelling at the smoothness and quiet tickover but slightly concerned it was going through the first tank of fuel quite quickly. At lunchtime he went to fill it up only to discover they've sold him a petrol. All the paperwork says diesel. He's spent the afternoon arranging for its collection and now is worried they'll not be able to find one in his spec - or even a diesel as I believe Volvo have discontinued them.

Good job he noticed before he stuck any fuel in it. I'd be spitting feathers if a dealer made that sort of error when selling me a car.

A previous boss ordered a 3.0 V6 Discovery and was concerned at its lack of effortless progress compared to his old RRS. It turned out they had supplied a four cylinder Discovery, so that went back, he cancelled the order and kept the RRS.

Well, that was an expensive afternoon. I've just paid my and Mrs PG's tax bills from last year (plus on account for this year); paid my credit card bill that had on it the the Jag service, the MyTyres that aren't mine yet as they've not been delivered, emptying our septic tank and some other bits and pieces; and filled the horse lorry up with diesel (that'll be £90 please). I'd have a lie down, but we're out for a meal tonight with friends, so that'll be another card swipe.

An unopened bottle of cough mixture, almost 8 years past its expiry date, seems to be just as effective as if it had had to be used "on time"........
