My FD was fed up with range / charging in her Q4 Etron so ordered an Ewok Hybrid company car.
She’s had it 4 weeks and it broke down on the side of the M5 on Monday afternoon. She was with her 6 year old as they had been away for a long weekend, thankfully they found some shade. Long story short, the AA took over 2 hours to get to them and only made it 75% of the way back before the driver ran out of hours to it was left at the services for someone else to collect. She broke down at 5pm and got home (via Taxi from the services) at 1:30 am. She had a call from the recovery guy at 2:30am asking where the car and the keys were as the AA hadn’t told him….. Brilliant.

No doubt we have all seen that video of a dim-witted far-right rioters getting a brick on the head then another in the gentleman's area. Well I've just seen this online and it is too good not to share
There once was a thick far right pri*k Who got hit on the head with a brick As he turned to the lads He took one in the nads And limped away nursing his di*k

The only camera the Kuga has is the reversing one. The windscreen just has a rain sensor (which I have disabled in the standard user settings as like all rain sensing wipers,it's useless) and maybe a sensor for auto lights. I was surprised that it couldn't be done outside my home but it worked out OK That’s not true Chris, some rain sensors work very well, they have been excellent in my last few cars. Not the Tesla though, that does have a useless rain sensor. I switched on my auto rain sensors 3 years ago on the X3 and I have pretty much left them to do their stuff since then. Seem to work fine.

All the cars I've driven with rain sensing wipers - their action has been rubbish, never sweeping until there's too much water on the screen or sweeping too often..... Ford, Renault, VW, Peugeot, Volvo and probably a few more too; I much prefer intermittenmt wipe with the "normal" options of one wipe approximately every 3, 6, 9, 12 seconds etc

The Octavias work just fine and I tend to just leave them on. The Golf mk7 I had was the same, they just worked the majority of the time.

So do the Yeti's, they are on auto and you can adjust the sensitivity with the intermittent control.

The rain sensors on the Mini and Disco work OK. Both are adjustable.

Bugger……. (It’s 50%+ longer than you can see as it goes across the top of the screen) Appointment with Autowindscreens was 8:30, got there 10mins early thanks to school holiday traffic, just as the manager was getting out of his car. Had a good chat and have more confidence they will do a good job now. Apparently they have the software for most cars, but there are a few that aren’t quite so simple. With Porsche, they have to connect their system to the manufacturer in Germany for them to calibrate everything.

They cracked the windscreen putting the exterior trim piece in…! Oh well, not the end of the world and I now know they order a ‘dealer part’ rather an aftermarket screen. Edit

Edit Sounds like someone had a bad day at the office! Eer Boss I just broke a screen putting it in....hopefully a cheap fiesta and not the Porsche....Er?😂 But easily resolved as you say

That’s a pain, hope it gets sorted easily enough.
I’m currently in Northern Ireland in a converted Transit van/RV type set up. Rented it online as the reviews were excellent and the pictures looked great. The reality of such a rental though is that it’s not as well executed as I expected and the van is horrible to drive- I mean horrible. I’ve driven many in my time and this one is by far the worst. Gearbox is rough, 5th gear will only get you about 55mph without singing a ludicrous noise… We’ve parked it up as we have the car too, which feels like a sports car after driving the transit.
Anyway, the guy in the office said they will convert transits for people too. In my professional opinion, wiring shouldn’t be done that way, the layout is poor, the execution of the idea works and their market based on expectations vs reality, should be people in their 20’s who are traveling long distances across the UK.
I wouldn’t use their services to convert a van as I could do a much better job myself.
I’d rather put a hitch in the car and rent a caravan next time.

Car has been in this afternoon for Windscreen number 2. The branch manager has fitted it himself…just had a call and it’s broken again, similar place but the other side!! He’s thinking faulty batch, I’m not convinced but they’re going to order another from a different dealer.
Third time lucky hopefully…..

Someone at head office is going to be asking questions because this will be costing them a small fortune.

Someone at head office is going to be asking questions because this will be costing them a small fortune. Indeed. He said he was going to have to involve his regional manager, I bet he does! When I spoke to Porsche about a screen last year, it’s was just over £1,500. I hope the apprentice, who fitted the trim which caused it to crack last time, gets an apology now his manager has done the same!

Cost is £1,600 + Vat and he’s gutted as it will have quite an impact on his bonus. It’s the trim going back on that’s the problem, it broke about 5 secs from the job being completed.

He showed me the last screen and you could see a chip on the edge, the one that’s in now doesn’t have that, but it still cracked.

They’re waiting for a screen to be delivered from a different Porsche dealer as they’ve convinced themselves a different batch might solve the problem….. It hasn’t been bad enough either time to leave me without a car, the latest crack is growing, but up the passenger side close to the edge so not a big issue.

Just seen this on another forum; made me chuckle for a couple of seconds:
If you have a breakdown and it's an electric car you can still use the AA. Unless it's a small electric car, then you have to use the AAA.

Arrived back from France in the wee smallhours last night. One thing that struck us as our route took us north up the A34 from Winchester to Oxford, was that almost every single layby had one solitary car car parked up. Between 1:00 and 2:00 AM. All the cars in darkness, withno interior or exterior lights. Seems an odd place to pull over for a kip, when even the car park at Chieveley services would offer a better solution.
Something else we noticed after two weeks in France is just how woefully crap everything is over here.

Could it be people who are living in their car - they'd probably get moved on if they parked up overnight at the services.

Just at Durham hospital and there was a massive queue at the visitor car park so parked in the public car park nearby.
Tap2Park have the registration as a Black Land Rover Chimaera. 2 out of 3 ain't bad, I suppose.

Just had a very angry man flag me down in the tractor in the hamlet near the hay fields and tell me he and the other residents are going to call the police as I am driving too quickly.
In my tractor that does 40kph flat out and I was a gear down and slowing as I'm going uphill with a load. Crack on.
He made the mistake of opening the tractor door and sticking his head in the cab. Good judge of character, my terrier. He retreated sharpish. 🤣
