Started watching American Gods as it has Ian McShane in it. WTAF! By far the strangest thing I have seen. While I am comfortable with my sexuality, it was marginally uncomfortable to watch what amounted to gay porn in one particular scene. 😳

Monday's Game of Thrones: The Loot Train Attack. Fan-bloody-tastic.
Never seen so many stunt men set on fire.

Finally saw Dunkirk last night. I think it would be impossible to see it and not be emotionally exhausted when the credits roll. And it also reminds me that when you see the suffering, sacrifice and pain that befell that wartime generation, that we don't know we're born.
I'm adding Dunkirk to the first 30 minutes of Saving Private Ryan as compulsory viewing for all the snowflake generation.

That was a proper epic episode. I felt it deserved the death of a prominent character though - unless you really believe Jaime and Bronn drowned at the end.

There's no doubt that 90% of 20 something's today would look at what the soldiers had to do in Dunkirk and say 'fuck that!' Not that im saying I'm any braver of course but it highlights just what my grandparents generation did for our country.

Saving Lives at Sea series 2 starts tonight - some filming took place on our lifeboat, but they don't tell you if and when anything they captured will be aired - but definitely not anything from here in the first two weeks.

Turned it off when that fella started smashing cows' heads in with a sledgehammer.

I'm currently about half way through the first season of Ozark on Netflix. It's pretty good, but I'm puzzled as to why no one has just killed the main character yet, as he has pissed off just about everyone else in the whole series!

Also watching Preacher and Shooter, but this practice of drip feeding us with a new episode every week is irritating. I'd rather they just waited until the series was finished on US telly and then just upload all of them at once!
Gonna start on the Defenders later, too.

Defenders was shite.
Been a bit disappointed with the pacing of the last season of Game Of Thrones. It feels like the last six seasons have been a drawn out and far reaching exercise that involved pushing a huge stone up a hill but now Dany is on Westeros the stone has reached the top and is plummeting down the other side at breakneck speed. The storylines have been pretty predictable and Jon Snow has been all the way around Westeros about 4 times in 7 episodes when it used to take characters about two seasons to go half way from one castle to another!
Another thing; why doesn't he have white hair?

A little light reading/viewing in the 12th household of late. This is better-written than Trainspotting itself, in no small part because it's much more recent (even though set earlier), I supect:
Biography of the guy in charge of the UN mission present in Rwanda during the genocide, documentary DVD to follow. Hardest book to read in my experience, because of subject matter rather than it not being well-written:
Just started this:
Not sure I can wholeheartedly recommend the ID sequel:
Worth a watch if you saw/enjoyed Sightseers, but I'm not sure it's quite in the same league. Needs another watch:

Nascar on Freeview 095, looked at this for a while and cannot see the point. Most of the time has been behind a safety car while the presenting team argued about the award of an extra set of tyres to a team whose car flatspotted a set in a spin. entertainment?

QOTSA haven't done a good album since Songs For The Deaf.
Have you heard the new Mastodon album? Al-fucking-mighty is about the only way I can describe it. There is no other band out there that can match them, I've never heard riffs or drums like that before. I hope they never stop taking acid if this is what they can come up with.

Thoughts on this blarno? Your 2 favourite musicians have finally collaborated ! I once respected Liam Gallagher's opinion of Chris Martin when he called him a "fucking plant pot" Then the permanently-Parka'd chimp goes and duets with him. I'm not watching it, it'll only make me want to hunt both of them down and beat them to death with their own hastily removed limbs.

The first time I listened to 'Like Clockwork' was on the way home from my folks the day my Dad was diagnosed with early stage dementia. The song called 'I appear missing' seemed rather poignant and moving.
I can't stop listening to the band Skyharbor at the moment. It's melodic rock, possibly with an Indian influence (due to the main man being from India, surprisingly enough!)

A couple of years ago I probably would have agreed, but now I'm not so sure. I have a horrible feeling next season is going to be World War Z with dragons.

I think Lullabies is good in parts but a bit rubbish in others. Have recently bought the second Royal Blood album and the new Mark Lanegan album. Both are OK but not as good as earlier work IMO.

Speakking of the Royal Blood albums, I bought both a couple of months ago and the first one is definitely my favourite of the two.

Ditto on the Royal Blood stuff. Second album has riffs galore, but the songs are weak.

I've been watching Shooter on Netflix, but it has just ended part way into season 2. Turns out the main fella broke his leg and couldn't complete filming, so they just called it a day. Annoyyyyinnnggg!
