The latter certainly applied, along with plenty of minds made up based upon external factors and experiences with others. Stupid.

It bothers me that there seems to be little attention to proper debate, learning the difference between ignorance, opinion and informed knowledge. I just stuck the idiot box on for the news and found myself watching "Goodbye, Mr Chips". Appropriate to this topic I think.

I've just subscribed to NowTV and started Game of Thrones. It has taken half a dozen episodes but I am starting to enjoy it.
Streaming stuff on demand is definitely the way to go. Since ditching Sky a couple of years ago, I am getting more of the stuff I want to see, when I want it on Amazon, Netflix and NowTV for the price of a basic Sky subscription.

I got into thrones and walking dead by binge watching them on Now TV. I'm currently getting through Black Sails on Amazon.

Black Sails or Bloodline will be my next try out. I've just finished season 2 of 19-2 on Amazon and they've annoyingly not commissioned season 3, which looks to be the last one accordingto IMDb...

We've only just got around to watching Little Boy Blue, the dramatization of events surrounding the shooting of 11 year-old Rhys Jones in 2007. Well-acted, mercifully bare in terms of background music and heart-breaking.

Binge watched 13 episodes of Bloodline over the last two days. Very good. Ben Mendelsohn plays a right nasty bit of work...

I was looking for a way to watch some of the Le Mans action now that we don't have Sky or Eurosports.
Apparently there are going to be a couple of live slots (about 90 mins long) plus some highlights on Quest if anyone is interested.

Well-acted, mercifully bare in terms of background music and heart-breaking. We watched this and yes, superbly acted and very challenging to watch. Did you watch Three Girls, Chris? The Rochdale child sex trafficking thing on around the same time. We only just watched that, and it was, if anything, even harder to watch but even better.

I think you can get Eurosport for the weekend streamed to you for something like £5, they did it last year. The picture and quality of service on the online Eurosport and the corresponding apps are abysmal. knowing how bad it is now I'd be pissed off if they gave me a whole year for that fiver!

Does it still have Roberto Montalban (the guy who played Khan in the Star Trek films) and Herve Villechaize in it?

I've just started reading the book of James May's The Reassembler. It isn't just a print version of the TV series, but runs alongside. Funny, informative and well worth the price.

Went to see Churchill a couple of nights ago. A good film from an enjoyment point of view and some great acting. But historically it is rather full of holes, methinks.

I kind of imagined from the trailer I saw that his story was being whitewashed more than a little, painting him as the saviour & hero popularised over past decades by those who really should know better.
It would be nice if his story could be told "warts and all" for once, rather than the Boy's Own pish that was 'Young Winston', for example.

I think you get a better view on reading books about the various battles that went on and his input to them. I recently read the Jonathan (?) Dimbleby one about the North Africa campaign and I'm sure the stuff about Churchill wasn't entirely complementary, neither was the stuff about Montgomery. Same general opinion in a book I read about Burma, although quite a few characters came out of that badly (including the guy that led the Chindits and Mountbatten).
However, he was clearly the right guy for the job.

To summarise, it makes out that Churchill was still traumatised by the Dardennelles landings (flashbacks and so on in the film) that he had supported. And that made him against D-Day as he thought that it would end in slaughter of hundreds of thousands of allied troops and be a disaster. But in the end he supported it and did his duty to support it publicly and aid the war effort. Historically, Churchill did support and mastermind the political drive for the Dardanelles compaign and when it failed he went off to France as a battallion commander - some day to make amends, others say he wanted to due, others that wanted to go back to being at the sharp end and so on. It is true that he sufferd from depression a bad mood swings a lot in his lafe after WW1, so he probably was badly affected by the campaigns failure and cost in lives. Dardanelles Campaign
Historical concensus now is that Churchill knew that a military landing in France was ultimately the only way to defeat Germany. But he was against it until the allies had sufficient resources to make it a success. By the time of D-Day itself, he was believed to be a strong supporter.

T2 Trainspotting. Garbage when compared the original. Really didn't see the point.

T2 Trainspotting. Garbage when compared the original. Really didn't see the point. Agreed on that. Nowhere near as funny as the follow up novel, Porno, that it was based upon.

Watched Le Mans on Amazon Prime last night, A 5 episode documentary of the 2015 race following the fortunes (and misfortunes!) of 6 teams. Worth taking the time to watch.

So G.o.T is back ...hurrah !!!!
WAtched the last 2 episodes of season 6 just to refresh the memory and have to say they make probably my favourite 2 hours of tv .
Also finished better call Saul season 3 and working my way through curb your enthusiasm which is just brilliant ,and weird because I really never got Seinfeld ,literally never laughed once at it.
