Just reaching the end of 'The Crown' and love it.Which has inspired my next reading material,so any recommendations for a good Churchill biography appreciated. Read Boris Johnson's book 'The Churchill Factor'....not a total biography, more an examination (through Johnson's prism) of various events that involved Churchill, it was a pretty good read, Churchill was deeply flawed, yet it might be because of those flaws that he was the person he was, and was at times, needed to be.

I've seen DM twice. The first time made me want to see them again, the second time made me not want to see them again!

TG does seem to be going from strength to strength - it'll just get really good and that'll be the end of the series for god knows how long. Agreed. It has been getting better and is now worth watching and enjoyable. Something that could not be said of the Evans shouty / me-me-me series.

Great TG episode tonight. The Chiron is the ultimate in wily waving and I am glad it didn't win. Stunning to look at, mind. On TG-EG, they said that at maximum speed, the tyres are good for just 35 miles, after which they must (recommended that) be binned and changed for new ones, so you couldn't even travel for one tank of fuel (approx. 9 minutes) at maximum speed

I saw Depeche Mode at Newcastle City Hall in 1982 - just before Vince left and formed Yazoo. It was Ultravox the following week.
I've only caught "live" DVDs since but I'd love to see them again. That said, their new album is not all that.

But what a nine minutes that would be!

Unless a Chiron owner has also bought the Nardo test facility I don't think they'll have much to worry about. If someone can tell me where you can do 260 odd MPH for a mile without some arse sat in the fast lane doing 70 let alone 35 miles I'm all ears.

Same as the last few then. I think I saw them on the Violator tour and the Exciter one. The second time was at Wembley Arena and I couldn't have had worse seats. My mate failed to turn up and even the touts wouldn't buy the spare ticket off me!

Didn't it used to be the case with the Veyron that the wheels had to be changed every five sets of tyres, too? The amount of money these things cost to run is just mind blowing.

Yeah, something like that. The Chiron is in an even higher league again. Genuine money no object cars. Kind of disgusting yet impressive.

I imagine most owners can probably afford it and it's the sort of fact that they probably use to impress people "my car's so powerful it destroys its wheels every 10,000 miles"

Someone told me. He looks on Reddit a lot and apparently there's a subreddit for free films on pornhub. That one was linked to the other day...

Rio Ferdinand: Being Mum and Dad That's the Beeb license fee justified for another year, and then some. Only seen a couple of clips but it looks very much that way. Blimey.

I was curious about the Ky/Key/She-Ron, so I gave the last TG a go. My personal take is that it has every weakness that old TG did, it's just delivered by different people. If you prefer them, you'll prefer it. But a new kind of motoring programme it ain't. SIARPC goes on for way too long, and the cringeworthy scripting is still there by the shovelful. 'Which point six of a helicopter?' I can picture Hammond delivering the same line, and just as badly.
It's not for me.

Top Gear last night was excellent, probably the best of the series so far. Loved the Ford GT, genuinely drop dead gorgeous styling, and the suspension drop as it went into track mode just appealed to the kid in me so much.
The 4WD buggy segment at Hammertown was superb, that course was genuinely frightening and I think the fear on Harris' face was real. He did very well to finish 4th. The only slight negative was the reappearance of Eddie Jordan hamming it up (badly).
I'm surprised how good this series has been, for an old format it does feel much fresher. Hats off to the BBC - I didn't think they could pull it off but they have.

Still can't fully make my mind up about the Ford GT. It looks sensational but its launch means it'll probably be old hat by the time they start delivery in the UK. Chris Hoy in the Toy Yoda was pretty impressive too.

The more I see of the Toyota on Top Gear, the more I like it. Toyota are to be applauded for making a car such as this and defying the naysayers who said it needed more power, wider tyres. In a way they called the bluff of those people who said modern cars are too boring and wanted something more fun. It's just a pity the interior isn't a bit better.

Just a shame its not a bit more spacious inside. Now if the Supra can be put to market with a proper engine, I'll be all over it.

Another great episode and the TG Extra Gear episode was also one of the best ones I've seen, too. Only disappointment was that the GT didn't get lapped.

I wasn't even that put off by Eddie Jordan's appearance and he must be a pretty good sport to allow them to take the piss so much. If we have things like that Hammertown feature, give me driving skills over presenting skills any day.

Cancelled my Spotify sub. Kept getting silent tracks, kept reporting them, nothing was done about it, so they got binned!

If either of you have it to hand try Sundancer by The Fumes or Vehicles And Animals by Athlete. They've probably gone and fixed them now, just to prove me wrong!
Most annoying bit was that after a silent track playback would stop, too. I used the radio function quite a bit, so I know it wasn't my equipment/volume etc. It'd be playing one minute then silence...
