Yeah I've got a red GTS in my AT garage as well. The £81,995 one at RPM? Having one in your AT garage isn’t what counts, I’ve got quite a few cars I could theoretically afford but won’t buy in mine!

These (and this looks like a fantastic example) hold a lot of appeal for me and have the required practicality to occasionally carry >1 passenger. Love the looks, sounds, sense of occasion & 'specialness' that I think is missing from quite a lot of cars despite other options perhaps being 'better' on paper. The interior infotainment is a weak point but not something that would bother me a great deal! www.richardgracecars.co.uk/for-sale/maserati-granturismo-sport/498Seriously tempted one day - but the timing is not right at the moment (and my sensible head says save vs. spend)

The sound they make is good compensation for the relative lack of performance and they do look fantastic.
Not for someone with any thoughts of being sensible!

The sound they make is good compensation for the relative lack of performance and they do look fantastic. Not for someone with any thoughts of being sensible! The performance would be plenty so that's a non-issue. I know there are far cheaper ways to go far faster but 0-60 in under 5s is still quick by most standards and as I've got older I find myself increasingly less interested in 'stats' and far more in the way a car makes you feel. My 125i is much slower than my 640d was but in the vast majority of driving it's fast enough and I don't often miss the performance in day to day driving. Regards sensible - having looked into these over the years it seems that as far as cars of this type go it's actually pretty reliable and not too costly to run (it's all relative of course) - owners, in general, speak pretty kindly about the overall reliability but as a daily driver (albeit not high mileage) I would certainly have concerns!

I've never driven one but know a few that have (and know someone that owns both the coupe and convertible in California alongside some more overtly sporting options) and the drive is meant to be pretty good. Obviously more GT than Sport (unless you go for one of the early MC Stradale 2 seater options) but a full on sports car wouldn't fit my needs the majority of the time which is why i find myself erring toward things like this (or a Jag V8 etc)

There's a thread in the Alfa section of Pistonheads about this car, nothing to worry about though. Have you bought it yet?

I'd love that. I made several Airfix kits of that plane plus this one is the same age as me..... shame I can't fly !

I've got a 3/4 built Revell (I think) one but it was a large scale, possibly 1/32, and the fit of the fuselage was atrocious. It's been sitting in its box for the last 40 years. Also have a 1/48 Tamiya that I did complete and recently bought the Corgi die-cast one, partly because it's a plane that was based at Leuchars so I would've seen it flying past.

SOme of the old Revell and Tamaiya kits have dodgy bucks and need a LOT of filler/adjustment. There is an Israeli guy who designs paper aircraft and his are bleeping good. Several have been made into flying versions with RC and all. FOC.

Airfix have made a lot of effort recently with re-tooling their kits and they're much better (I'm told).

Much better since Hornby got them out of recievership tbh. I like their large scale kits and always have over the 1:72 etc. A world without Airfix just seems wrong.

When you consider that the Spitfire for sale on that site is north of $3 million, that Phantom to seems a bargain. I don't think I ever built a 1/72 Airfix Phantom in my modelling years. Don't know why.
