You didn't paint the tub and doors whilst they were off the chassis?

No. Land Rovers are easier to paint as is and I'm not going to paint it yet anyway. If I can be bothered, it will be painted next year, probably with a brush and roller.

I've got one footwell sorted. I've riveted a panel in place which means it's fairly easy to remove should I need to. I need some steel to make up a similar panel for the driver's side.
I've also installed the seat box battery tray which means the passenger seat now fits properly and can have a lid.
PCV hose arrived so is now plumbed into the carb. I need a filter for the other side.
I also need a new radiator. The top tank on the existing radiator is incredibly thin and the fan switch boss will not solder properly. There is also a weep from the top hose. At this stage, it is marginally irritating, but it goes with the territory.
Just waiting for parts for the last push to get it MOT ready.

It’s a shame you can’t see all the work you’ve done on it.

That really is quite an achievement. Is the exhaust legal for the MOT??

How about a nice camouflage paint job ?

Not at all, I really admire your enthusiasm and abilities/skills in the work you have done, just wish I had the time, space and money to have done something similar when I was much younger. I was just wondering if instead of aiming for a "decent" or pristine paint job, it might be a bit of fun to decorate it with a camouflage paint job. My dreams will largely never be fulfilled but that doesn't mean that I don't want anyone else to fulfil theirs

Awesome! This takes me back 30+ years when my daily driver was something very similar, albeit not in such finely fettled mechanical condition.

Great job, Mark but I'm not sure if it's a trick of the light or the angle of the photo but I think the colour match on the passenger door might be off.

It looks worse now I have the truck cab and door tops installed. Chris, this hasn't cost a fortune and I've done bits when I have been able to afford it. The big splash out was the intake and carb setup. I really want to make it a full canvas tilt, but simply can't afford it at the moment and will live with the truck cab until I can. This is the beauty of a Land Rover project. It's just a grown up Meccano set. I have never dismantled a car or engine before, but the project taught me as I went along. It has been a hard road at times, but I have learned loads which is very rewarding.

MOT is booked for Tuesday afternoon. I've also had an email from Gaydon that my Heritage Certificate is on its way. If it turns out it was built before 1st January 1979 then it can be tax and MOT exempt.

I shouldn't have doubted myself!
It wasn't all plain sailing. It kept conking out on the way home. I think it is a fuel pump or coil issue. I'm going to change the coil and if that doesn't make a difference, I'll put a new fuel pump on it.

I had that with my V8 conversion and it was fuel vapourisation. Is yours on a mechanical fuel pump? If so, a new pump will help but an electric pump at the tank end of the fuel line will be the best cure.

I took a line off and the flow is feeble so I think it has failed. I blew back down the line and there wasn't any blockage. I've ordered a genuine Facet pump.

That's a great job and for a working vehicle it looks just fine. I love the way it sounds.
