A Ford Ka+. I wonder why someone there got the idea that what they needed was a car that went in between the Ka and the Fiesta? The actual KA is no more, the KA+ replaces it. I wonder who in Ford thought that the KA+, as it is, was a good idea, it's just so dull and meh, Ford have alienated first/younger buyers in one fell swoop; get them into the brand young and you've a fighting chance in keeping them.

An Alfa 156 with Israeli flags on each door. Not stickers, but those ones on sticks you see when there is a World Cup on. WTF! Well I've just seen an Alfa RZ pull up in the Gatwick short-stay. I think that's the closest into automotive rocking-horse-poo I'll see today. Truly awsome looking cars, there use to be one near me, I love the SZ too.

Generally I don't like the Up!. In white it particularly looks like a fridge with wheels. This reminds me of the original Cinquecento Sporting though - and I'm a particular sucker for the Gti tartan seats. If I was in my 20s I'd be interested in one. I'm a bit sceptical about the price though - if a Polo GTi is nearly £20k will this really be under £14k? A Twingo GT 110 is just over £14k, the Up! GTi will likely be alot more; £16-£17k.

Back in the day as a teenager I hated that my parents both had "Moggys", but I now look back with fond memories, both my mum and dad ran one each as daily drivers; a 3dr and a Traveller.
Most weekends my dad was fixing something on one of them but he did everything to keep them on the road; mechanics, welding, bodywork, spray painting etc all out of the garage, we shared the lounge with a full wood kit for a Traveller for a fair while; it never got fitted!
Then one day, my dad had, had enough and traded his Traveller in for an S plate Escort estate, it was a year old so he was using a "Moggy" as his daily up until around 1999, a few months later my mum followed suit and got an Escort hatch.
Over the years and up until his death in 2014 he still had his imperial tools and every so often, whilst rummaging for something in the garage or shed, you would come across some obscure Morris Minor part, a bit of trim or a workshop manual.
I wonder if PRX 64B (Praxton as my mum named it), is still about!

If I have an appointment on a specific car and it subsequently sells then I will always call the customer to let them know, as do my colleagues.
The vast majority of the time when it is suggested a deposit is left to secure the car subject to condition etc, as it is a very popular model etc and it is likely to sell between now and the appointment in a few days time or "my colleague has someone very keen on it aswell" you are never believed anyway.
It is amazing how some people are treated by other marques or franchises though, particularly Audi, yet people carry on buying from them and it is very hard to get a job selling a "premium" brand, there are so many hoops to jump through and yet all you hear about is poor service.

I suppose the only thing going for that, will be that it will be cheap; it'll have to be as it just looks so meh.
The original Grand Punto was a fantastic looking car, until it had a facelift.

I find the most shocking part of this story to be the time they reckoned it would take to have the car valeted. My experience is that cars that come in are usually done within 24 hours - unless there was a couple of transporter loads. At the very least they would be given a quick going over to make them reasonably presentable on the off chance that a 'walk-in' would want a look and test drive. Its not as if you'd seriously restrict the number of valeters because they get paid a lot of money................ All depends on how busy they are, used cars are transferred to us from our sister branch for us to prepare as they are too busy so can't get them done in a decent time frame, they are also badly organised over there too!

Your first point Chris regarding poor communication at Camberley and the sales guy there not knowing what was going on and the car not being cleaned is a valid one, I hear stuff like that all the time from customers and it frustrates the crap out of me as I do my best to make sure cars are ready, colleagues know what is going on etc if I'm not around and they are doing me a favour.
However a dealer selling a car on the morning on the day that you are coming to look at it, sorry that is fair game I'm afraid.
If a dealership "held" cars for people that were coming to see it then half of their stock would never be on sale and no matter that you are likely the kind of person who would let a dealer know that a problem had occured at home and you wouldn't be able to make the appointment, or had bought a car elsewhere the day before so wouldn't be coming to see the car, the vast majority of people don't do this, they just don't show up.
I have even confirmed appointments the night before and been told that yes they would be attending still and then they don't show.

According to some guy on Pistonheads who seems to know what he is talking about, that Alpina is 1 of only 2 RHD LWB versions ever produced.

I've seen a lot of TV ads for the new Megane, and quite a few for the new Tipo. Maybe it's the TV channels I watch? TV advertising for Megane has only recently started in the last couple of months. Saw a new Volvo S90 this morning, it's kind of an odd looking car, I like that it is different, however I don't think that it is a particularly attractive car, odd rear lights too.

I saw a GLA45 AMG today and thought it looked bloody awful. A nicer spot was an Alfa 164, which was far from pristine. My brother works as a Fiat salesman these days and has a Tipo Estate as his daily driver. It's their demo model and he isn't holding his breathe that anyone will be buying it! They've registered two, the second a hatch which is also a demo and that's it. Given that Fiat UK don't appear to have invested any of their budget in letting the buying public know if its existence it's not surprising. I think even Renault UK have put more effort into advertising the new Megane! Lol, we've got a fair few Meganes; pre reg and demos, rammed up our arses that we can't shift for love nor money and there is talk of Renault doing what they call a "pack deal" on stock Meganes (of which there are alot); essentially heavy discounting to get them shifted, if this happens it'll be even harder to shift our current pre reg and demo cars. Currently they are all up for over a grand less then they owe us. When Kadjar was launched, RUK put in milions into the advertising for it, they hit the ground running with agressive advertising, when Megane was launched, there was no advertising and no point of sale for a good few months after it appeared, I think that speaks volumes for what they thought about Megane and where it was heading. The Megane is actually a good car.

I reported it to the DVLA via their online thingy, about a month ago, I've reported it again this morning, I had a look on our councils website and it directs you to the DVLA. Normally I would't bother, but it is taking up a very valuable space. Report it to the police then. See if the local neighbourhood team will shift it. DVLA can't cope, hence they shove it out to other agencies. As for the council, tell them it's abandoned. They have a statutory duty. I've just reported it the council as abandoned.

Ah, after the dull spectacle that was Sochi, we move to the first race of the European season and a track that will offer exciting racing, wheel to wheel overtaking on every corner and a close finish across the top 6 or 7 cars. Oh.... hang on. Indeed! I think we’ll need to wait until Montreal to see some great racing. Montreal is a short layout with a distinct lack of corners....please, F1, repeat this! Honda needs the Mercedes-approach. Mercedes GP is made in UK, financed in Stuttgart. But Daimler doesn’t care because their brand gets the credit. Honda has always tried to treat their F1 programme as a learning exercise for their engineers in Japan. Whilst one can see the benefits of that, Honda needed to develop the powertrain directly in tandem with McLaren in Britain. Not only to have a more direct relationship, but to utilise the best human resource available in the industry. Don't Japanese business's have a really long chain of command too; all decision making has to be made through various people through the company as opposed to one main man on the ground making instant decisions. How long before Honda throws in the towel, I shudder to think how many 100's of millions they have spent already for absolutely nothing?
