Warranty! Yay!
Looks good. I think I would favour an auto (not driven this gem of L200 though).
I have been in a Ranger for nearly a year now and I will really miss it when it goes back. So useful.

Lindsey isn't a fan of autos and I prefer a manual in something like this. If it was a 200bhp Ranger I was getting, 10 speeds would be very nice.
I don't recall Mitsubishi autos being very good. That may have changed over the last few years, mind.

My driveway needs some attention if you can help? Mine genuinely does, the tarmac at the bottom is breaking up. You're going to have months of your year spare now!! That's a huge amount of chrome..... It's going to feel very luxurious after the LR, I hope it's as expected/hoped. Is it basically the same as the Pajero Sport underneath? I rented one in Thailand and it looks the same inside. I'm not sure. The old ones used to be. I am going to see how I get on with the sports bars and roller shutter. I can always get a canopy at a later date if I can't live with it.

Bright red. What a tart!
Don't get a canopy, I think pickups look best without them.

I have a mountain top roller and it is good quality but it steals space and it is obviously a big limiter to what you can carry as a civilian. I will order a canopy if I get another one as getting bikes in will be far easier.
For sheep/hay/anti aircraft guns a roller is ideal though.

That looks very clean and low miles for a 2-3 year old L200.
I am pretty sure that a Shogun Sport is based on an L200. But you've got to had it to Mitsubishi, if it ain't broken don't fix it. I recognise some of the switchgear and indicator lights from our 09 Shogun.

That looks very tidy and should provide you with trouble-free motoring.
The title of this thread hints at the Land-Rover ownership experience you were expecting and you were proven right. A shame, but that is just the way it is with them... and I write that as a one-time LR owner and someone who would consider going back down that troubled road again.
Edit: I would have the sockets out and be removing those chrome bars fromm the L200 while it was still rocking on the handbrake on my return home...

Ever since that Top Gear episode where they went to the North Pole in a red Toyota pick up I’ve always had a hankering for one. I’d never admit it in polite company of course.

Yes, I love my Land Rovers, and I like tinkering, but when something inevitably breaks requiring heavy duty spannering just to get it safely mobile again and it is the middle of winter when you need it the most, the time has come to part ways. I will be able to concentrate on the 110 project now, rather than having to repair my daily. I like the chrome bars. 🤣

Seems ideal, reliable (I hope) daily use and the 110 to tinker with when the mood takes you. A d the MX-5 for a blast every now and again.

Best of both worlds to have an unreliable old project as your weekend toy and a more modern reliable vehicle for your daily. Your not giving up on your Landies just accepting that they're not necessarily reliable daily transport, especially 25 year old examples! I do admire your initial bravery to go down that route especially as it replaced the vastly more comfortable E500.

It's not so much its overall age than the age of the design. It hasn't changed much since the Series Land Rover and the Defender is just a new name on a car that was born in 1983 when the Series 3 switched to coil springs.
Things like taper bearings that need constant checking and adjustment every 6k miles and cheaply made components holding it all together. The modern "Puma" Defenders aren't much better and you have electronics to deal with on top.
They are definitely an experience and a lot of fun which I am very glad and lucky to have had the opportunity to try, but I'm not getting any younger and I need to look after myself a little better!
Rolling around on the floor in the wet and cold fixing my daily car isn't doing me any good. 😂
ETA, the E500 was a lovely car, but hugely complicated and expensive when it went wrong.

At least red will make it stand out in the snow.....
Should we read anything into the radio displaying "Oh Lawd" as the track title ??

My E500 comment was more based on your daily driving experience which must have felt like you'd gone from a magic carpet to being inside a cement mixer!

I had an X-Trail in between the E500 and the Defender, but I see your point! 😂

Land Rover has sold to the first to view. Excellent news. Not a surprise with all the work you’ve done and great not to have to deal with a stream or prospective buyers.

Yes, the blue 110 is still ongoing and in many pieces.

I will miss it.

🤣 I start on the farm in a couple of weeks so not a lot will be getting done. I'd have been a lot further on if I hadn't had to wait so long for the conversion parts.

It's not true either. Bodies suffer massively from galvanic corrosion. I'm spending the money and having new galavanised bulkhead and fully galvanised doors on the Cummins build.
Friend of mine is getting a new tub from Land Rover warranty on his 14 plate due to his wheel arches corroding.
