..........but if like me, you found the last 14 or 15 series boring, then it was just a more lavish way of getting bored.
FYP
I didn't watch much of the last 10 years of the old TG with the trio because I was bored by that time. I've watched several of S1 of The Grand Tour and as others have said it is a big budget remake of the same old tired format.
The thing that I wanted most out of the whole series was access to my own personal dog-eared cold war era aircraft hangar of the type raced around on their test track.

I take it that some of you watch it just to have something to grumble about! I don't like new TG, so I don't watch it - simples.

That baseball player was such a wacky guy, right? I mean, such a wacky guy, with wacky clothes.
Then again, if I was a glorified rounders player named after a Beach Boy, I'd dress like a twat too.
They could at least use a V6 F Type. Clarkson calling the airline to downgrade Vagina and Bell End was great, that's the kind of thing I'd do.

I am a complete child when it comes to sweary words, but the fact that JC usually has May in his phone as Cunt, really made me giggle more than it should have done. 😂

I’d never heard of him, quick google showed he used to earn 10m dollars a year....crazy. The ‘downgrading’ was one of the most fake things on the programme! Wouldn’t have been possible, the Americans call it first class, the plane didn’t have anything other than economy (coach) seating...etc.

Laughed like a drain at clarksons ‘calls’ to the airline
I enjoyed it and look forward to it . Yes it’s been done before but it’s an hour of light entertainment

We’ve had Dave on for the last few hours whilst we prepare for the family to invade us, they’ve been showing the old TG Specials. So far all have been better than anything so far seen on The Grand Tour.

Just watched number 3. Excellent all round, even the bit with the bear owner. Minor point, Clarkson was on a yacht in St Tropez reading Nice Matin when clearly he’d have been reading Var Matin, that being the correct edition in the Var. Nice familiar road signs for me heading to Draguinan, but struggling to see why he came out of what would be Ste Maxim and go in the Marseille / Aix direction on the A8 when the road he took looked suspiciously like the way up to Dignes, which would have missed the A8 altogether.
Downloading number 4 for tomorrow.

Downloading number 4 for tomorrow. I seem to remember similar lack of appropriate routing being commented on in various TG episodes, by people who knew/k ow the relevant roads. Indeed, I made comment myself on the Isle of Man episode, where more than once Clarkson went from powering around the Verandah to thrashing along Marine Drive - the one many miles from the other, with the latter being a dead-end! Some things never change, it seems.

Having barely watched any of S1, I watched 1 1/2 episodes of S2 yesterday while Mrs ALF was out walking with our neighbour. For me, the sights/sounds of the cars in the alps, well filmed, with stunning scenery, are enjoyable - I fast forward the studio bits.
What amazed me was that Lu - on her laptop in the lounge at the time - said "put another one of those on Dad, it was funny" - so the "amusing" side of it clearly has broad appeal, which is what they go for...
If you basically want to see and hear the cars, there is much to like, even more so when you can fast-forward bits, which is very slick on Apple TV now (amazingly!) Amazon is on there.

I enjoyed the third episode.I only watch it for the humour.Theres enough car content on you tube to satisfy that area for me.

I enjoyed the third episode.I only watch it for the humour. +1 The cars and the scenery are a bonus. Much else of what's on TV, either broadcast or streamed, is utter shite which is partly why Football is so massively successful on TV.

I liked the first 4 episodes. Nice to see them back to being three middle aged British blokes in a tent in the UK, using British humour. No attempt to Americanise the show at all (which was what spoiled the first series at times).
However, I'm about 2/3rds of the way through number 5 and it is nowhere near as good. Let's hope they recover for episode 6.

I think the last two episodes have been better, very much the old Top Gear format and feel. Is it just me or does it feel like their budget has been cut back significantly? No carting the tent around the world, more features in the UK. I know Clarkson has a new woman so maybe he now likes to get home for his tea/shag after filming?

I loved the Farmkhana bit. Anything that take the piss out of the poncy show-pony Ken Block is a good thing. I laughed probably a bit more than I should with every 'thud' whilst hitting the 'sheep'.
It also reminded me how much I love the noise of an old-skool Impreza.
