Add to the above several brand new Panameras, a current model 911 GT3 RS, and a 911 turbo on Irish plates from 1990. There was also a badly driven RR Sport that overtook us in the wrong lane in a residential speed limit zone.

Saw a Nissan GTR this morning, fairly rare sight here. There was a Jaguar XFR giving it full beans the other day too and it sounded good.

A load of classic Porsches and Jaguars yesterday with Belgian plates (I'm in Croatia) on the Roads and Stones Rally (at least I think that's what the stickers said).

Followed a VW T-Roc R through the local town yesterday. Wasn't aware of their existence so imagine my surprise when another one joined at a roundabout!
Do they have the ubiquitous 2 litre, 4WD setup?

I saw a facelift (?) BMW 2 Series Active Tourer last night.
Fuck me that's a hideous piece of shit. Shirt button wheels, tiny slit headlights and a MASSIVE grille. The black paint really set off the awfulness of the MASSIVE grille.
Thanks god it only followed me for a couple of hundred yards. If it hadn't been for the grille I would've assumed it was a new cheap Chinese make that I'd never heard of.
On the same subject I would really love to have been at the original planning meeting where someone suggested they do a poor copy of a Mk2 Zafira and everyone agreed. In addition I would love to have been at the sign off meeting where this absolute monstrosity got approved.
I really wonder how long BMW badges will still be seen, by the general populace rather than car folk, as something a bit better then the run of the mill competition

Black car and massive silver grill. Absolutely awful!

Last night as I was playing golf, I could hear an engine being run right to the red line. I probably heard it about 2 miles away and moved to where the trees are thinner to see what it was when it went past.
I was playing at Hilton Park Golf Club which has three holes which run down the side of the Stockiemuir Road. The road is relatively narrow with lots of dips, crests and blind bends and is normally very popular with high speed bikers and slow speed cyclists.
I positioned myself to get a good view as the sound got closer as a GT3 came screaming round a corner and quickly disappeared out of sight at warp speed, redlining all the way. He had a moment somewhere down at the bottom of the hill where there is a small bridge followed by a sharpish left hander before screaming off in to the distance past the old Carbeth Inn.
The sound was fantastic, the driving was impressive and the speed must have been supersonic. What speed does a GT3 do flat out in 3rd? (might even have been 4th!) There was a commitment to the driving that I would never dare get close to on that road but there was also a lunacy in even trying it. I hope he and everyone else got home safely.

Stockiemuir Road and its' environs have always been popular with bikers; including the Blue Angels, who were 'occasional regulars' when I worked there for a spell in the 80's! It was also well known as a bikers' graveyard - lost count of how many guys I knew came to grief on that road .. .. ..

Mk 1 Ford Escort followed by the last Focus ST. The difference in size between them was insane, especially considering the Focus replaced the last Escort. The Mk 1 looked fantastic. Also saw a caravan being towed in the middle lane, slower than the traffic in the other lanes. The tow vehicle was a Polestar. Don’t think I’ve seen an electric vehicle towing a caravan before.

Yes mine is Marina Bay Blue and I still love the colour.
When the colour came out at first lots of people were comparing it with San Marino Blue and parking cars side by side to show the subtle differences.

I saw one of those Chinese Ora things this morning (think it's a Great Wall product?)
I assume its trying to look 'cute' at the front but the rear isn't great, especially the way the lights are set out. Having said that it's not as much of a dogs breakfast as BMWs current efforts.

That would be a difficult task. BMW have studies long and ard to ruin their own design heritage and standings.

Flat out in 3rd about 110 ish fourth is about 145 at the redline .

It must have been 3rd, which if you saw the road you would know is an absurd speed but it says a lot about the car's and drivers capabilities. Most cars go through full extension and full compression when pushing on that road and when you throw in sharpish corners, stone walls one side and big drops the other it shows just how good a GT3 is. I have been in normal cars on that road where 40/50mph felt too fast over some of the crests, dips and corners.

See my comments about the damping on my previous gt3 posts ,although it’s the engine that is the pain in the arse because it makes all the turbocharged new stuff feel pretty crap.

That's my recollection from when I worked in the Carbeth Inn, driving my Mirafiori there 6 days a week! Great fun

Yesterday on the M3 I saw six Police 3 Tourings trying to perform a TPAC on an Octavia vRS which was weaving around through them and trying to wriggle free. They were on the opposite side of the road do I never got to see if they were successful in the stop but it wasn't looking good for the Skoda.

^ Was it a training exercise? Maybe we'll never know Don't think they'd do that on a live M3 Chris. They'd have a few questions to answer if it went pear shaped!
